Does Joe Biden shave his armpits? in Close to Politics ·
I’m not gonna name names here because I don't want to get flagged by the mods—you know how this place is—but I think most of you guys will pretty much know exactly who I'm talking about. What's the consensus? Does Joe Biden shave his armpits?

Bosanka said:I don't see anything wrong with dressing decently—even nuns cover up because Christianity finds modesty important...

🙂 Uniforms for different Christian orders really just reflect the ideology, the era, and the place they started. Like, take the Franciscans—they wear this late Medieval/early Renaissance Italian peasant style. It’s kind of like how Kerloz described it in those Glembay stories—that Angelika isn't a Dominican, she’s more like a court lady from the 1300s. And the actual Dominican nuns? That order popped up in the 13th century. Who knows, maybe an order starting today will be carrying Gucci bags in 200 years! LOL. Anyway, nuns aren't strictly obligated to cover up, and honestly, they often don't, but they definitely aren't out there wearing mini-skirts and leggings.
Bosanka said:Umpa, homosexuality is strictly forbidden in Islam, and like I said before, wearing clothes of the opposite gender is too... personally, in the post you shared, I don't see anything suggesting the guy is a devout Muslim...🙄

Well, one way or another! One poor guy found out right before the wedding that his bride was actually a groom. Can you imagine if they had actually tied the knot? Would he even dare admit publicly that he married a man? The guy lives in Egypt, which is a super patriarchal society...
Bosanka said:Also, I want to say that in the West, it's become totally okay for men with certain inclinations to camouflage themselves as stunning women... even in old soap operas, you could see "glamorous ladies" (read: cats) where a regular viewer would never suspect they were actually men... so, it's not just about ninja moves and wrapping things up to trick people.😬

That's a whole different story. In the West, it's a relatively small issue. But man, I've heard some horror stories from people who visited brothels in the Far East. Every second girl is actually a ladyboy, and they are so hard to tell apart that experienced guys sometimes have to check for an Adam's apple first. Brrrr... Gross....

By the way, one of the Bond girls was trans—Carolina Cossey, who was in For Your Eyes Only, one of the women in the bikini during that pool scene in Spain.
Bosanka said:Someone did a really good job editing that last photo in AdobePhoto... and it's perfect "proof" for those who claim humans evolved from monkeys.👍

Probably is—honestly, it’s just for show, the pic doesn't really have anything to do with what I'm saying.

First off, let’s get our definitions straight here.
Niqab:

Burqa:
http://watch.windsofchange.net/pics/burqa_afg_s.jpg
So, there was this wild situation where Tamera Shehat—a 26-year-old guy from Cairo—was actually at his own wedding when one of the guests realized his bride was actually a dude! When Tamer finally confronted him, the guy admitted he was really an 18-year-old named Ahmed Abo Zeid. Apparently, he tried to get gender reassignment surgery but the doctors wouldn't clear him, so he just threw on a Niqab and started pretending to be a woman. His whole plan was to marry Tamer and then reveal the truth afterward to convince him to go through with the marriage. Well, it backfired big time—he ended up Uhapsen and got slapped with 45 days in jail for fraud.

Thank God I’m not Muslim, seriously. I mean, when you see stuff like this:

how are you even supposed to tell if someone hiding under a ninja mask looks like this:

Ethan Perez97 said:Glad you brought up Cobra! Man, if only I could actually find a place to download it these days... 🙂

BitTorrent. Try searching IsoHunt—that's where I managed to snag it.

Also, looking at that poll about the 80s and the movies that basically defined the whole genre... they totally left out those 90s action flicks, which were honestly just cheap knockoffs anyway. And it doesn't even cover the 70s, so we're missing guys like Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood... oh, and I completely blanked on Chuck Norris. I didn't include all those various American ninja flicks or Karate Kid stuff because that's a whole different vibe—it's not that specific brand of muscle-bound Commando in a black undershirt dual-wielding M-16s.

Now, Commando might be total trash, but it was a massive hit! Just like Cobra. Actually, fun fact: Cobra was the first movie where I ever saw a laser sight used.

Nowadays, I’m just hunting for anything starring Bud Spencer or Terence Hill. I remember back in the day, we’d constantly go to matinees—you know, those movies you watch on a Sunday morning at 10 AM. Man, how I miss that! A rainy Sunday with absolutely nothing to do, so your choices were either playing games on the Commodore 64 or the ZX Spectrum (depending on what you lucky kids had) or heading out to a matinee to catch some glorious action trash. Good old childhood memories right there. :nostalgicui sigh:

So, over the last few days, I’ve been downloading a couple of movies that I used to practically sell my soul for back when I was just a kid... And honestly? At the time, they were these massive, high-budget blockbusters, but looking back now, they're kind of total trash... But hey, they're still super fun to watch! It's just pure nostalgia for me... Like those old-school matinee days at the local AMC theater...

That’s Rodriguez himself! Man, he's a total musician through and through. He actually wrote parts of the music for Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn too—like, all those original tracks on the soundtracks were his work.

I.L said:Just like this whole "democratization" mess going on in Iraq right now..." 🙄 Well, over here, things went a little... "smoother," I guess? But hey, hardcore capitalism definitely got what it wanted. Now we’ve got hospitals running low on basic anesthesia, while Eric Adams is out there paying—get this—paying ad campaigns to certain groups just to make sure those "vulnerable" folks show up... you know, just to pull at the heartstrings of the American public...

It’s honestly gross...🙂

So, what’s the move then, Eric Adams? Should he just hand all that anesthesia over to them instead?

Coming out day in the Arab world:
http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld...n/12857371.htm

A few wild highlights from this:
One guy’s mom actually used to drag him to psychiatrists just to get him slapped with antidepressants—and honestly, whenever she sees him now, she just grabs whatever's closest and goes to town on him. Talk about intense, right?

There's also this whole mindset where people over there view being gay as some kind of disease being spread by Israel and the US just to tear down Islam from the inside.

Hundreds have been arrested—yeah, actual police arrests—and the article mentions stuff happening in places like Egypt and Saudi Arabia (where they can literally sentence you to 2,000 lashes!). Plus, in Palestine, there are these legal groups that basically just target them with everything they've got. It's gotten to the point where a huge number of Palestinian gay folks have had to seek asylum in Israel, and the article doesn't even touch on the ones who were forced into those "atonement" situations where they end up blowing themselves up in some cafe. Just absolutely heavy stuff.

Battlefield Earth : a saga of The Year 3000 Scientology

It's basically Scientology served up as trashy sci-fi. Just pure uber-trash that cost like 70 million bucks to make. Honestly, if it had been a tiny indie flick, I wouldn't care so much, but for that kind of money? Yikes.
Karen said:John Laroche:Angraecum sesquipedale! Man, what a stunner! Seriously! Darwin wrote about this One. Charles Darwin? Evolution Guy? Anyone home? See that little nectar well tucked way down at the bottom? Darwin actually guessed there had to be some kind of moth with a twelve-inch snout just to reach it and pollinate the thing. Back then, everyone thought he’d totally lost his marbles! But then—boom—they actually find this moth with a massive twelve-inch proboscis. And just so we're clear, proboscis basically just means "nose."
Susan Orlean: I am perfectly aware of what a "proboscis" is.

turnip man: No thanks, I've already grabbed a bite.
Lady shopkeeper One: Would you like a chocolate ice cream?
turnip man: I'm looking for lilac house. I'm trying to get a hold of Grace Trevethyn.
Lady shopkeeper Two: I love Grace. I seriously, seriously love her. Her hair is just incredible... so soft and silky, kind of like an Angora rabbit.
turnip man: Right. So where can I find her?
Lady shopkeeper Two: In a lovely lovely house. I just love her.
turnip man: and how do I find the lovely lovely house?
Lady shopkeeper Two: up the uppity uppity hill.

Man, this is hands down one of the best scenes ever filmed.
The Right Stuff (1983) in Movies ·
This movie is 👍 👍 👍 hands down the best aviation flick ever made—not that there’s a ton of competition, I mean, you’ve got Top Gun, The Aviator, Partisan Squadron, Hot Shots!, and that absolute masterpiece called Stealth, so I’m basically counting down the days until Stealth II drops 😵.

Just to be super clear here, trying to fly a modern fighter jet is absolutely insane—those two scenes where Yeager passes out from the G-forces? Not even an exaggeration. I’m dropping a link to some MPEG documentary footage, cockpit views and all, showing the bombing of an Iraqi reactor back in '81 (featuring the late, great astronaut Ilan Ramon). It totally gives off those The Right Stuff vibes—like how Yeager just casually chats about the vibrations and how the plane acts right before everything goes black, or that heavy breathing when he’s fighting to keep the bird in the air (happened twice in the movie, once hitting Mach 2.5 and again when he hits the stratosphere and the engines cut out). In that sense, the movie is actually pretty spot on.

Maybe I just need to be from New Jersey to actually get what's going on here. 😁

But seriously, yeah—I lived in that exact neighborhood for a year, and let me tell you, if I’d stayed any longer than twelve months, I’d probably be on heavy medication right now. Man, forget South Jersey. The absolute dark side of living down there is basically just Harold & Kumar go to White Castle.

little wonder said:Has anyone actually sat down and watched this movie yet? And if you have, what’s the verdict? I don't think it's even hit theaters here in the States yet, so I'm mostly asking people living abroad or maybe those who already grabbed it online or whatever...
Basically, everyone seems to be raving about it—it even cracked the IMDb Top 250 all-time list! It stars Zach Braff (you know, Dr. John Dorian from Scrubs) and Natalie Portman.

P.S. Does anyone happen to know when it's dropping in American theaters?

It's like, totally normal and super bizarre at the exact same time. Kind of gives me Lost in Translation vibes. It's definitely a solid watch, but I wouldn't say it's in my personal Top 250 ever. Honestly, I don't think I'd even bother watching it a second time.
