But honestly, yeah, Johnny Depp is pretty solid in almost anything he touches 🙂

Yeah, actually—I can't even think of a time he was truly bad. He was just kind of mid in Traffic, you know? Like, his acting was fine, but he really hits his stride when he gets to play those totally bizarre, weirdo characters.

Sandra King86 said:🙂 man, if that's the case, you definitely don't want to check out that L4yer cake thread.
😬 😁

I did peek at the thread, but hey—I'm not a movie buff, so I haven't really got much to add to the conversation!
Sandra King86 said:I had no idea! 👍

Since like half of those bullet hits and blood splatters were all added digitally anyway, there's a pretty good chance that the scene where [see spoiler below] was totally improvised and they just slapped the blood effects in later.

Sandra King86 said:Oh, you better believe it! It goes without saying! 😁 Man, it’s pretty obvious you grew up in the States if you feel like you have to walk on eggshells with your word choice like that! 😁 Don't go hating on me, but honestly? That whole macho vibe actually turned into something kind of cute—mostly because I don't exactly get the chance to run into him that often anyway! haha! 😘

🙂 Look, I gotta protect myself here—you know that certain type of woman... I just had to sit down and watch Speed! 🙂 I mean, let's be real—it's mostly just because Keanu Reeves is such a total hunk! 🙂

I feel like it would be totally awkward as hell to bring it up today—like, seriously, I don't want to be *that* guy—but man, we haven't actually crossed paths in... what, ten years? Yeah, at least a decade! So, honestly, I don't even have the chance to rub any salt in the wound, haha! 😢
Sandra King86 said:Possible spoiler alert—don't say I didn't warn ya!

I mean, come on—Sands is such a legend! Honestly, they should've just gone with the whole plastic hand thing instead. That would've been killer! 🤣
Look, I’m just saying—$10,000 isn't even that much money to take someone's life over... I mean, seriously, that is just straight-up terrifying. Like, wow. 😬

Look, I’m not even trying to spoil anything here—you can literally see that whole thing happening right in the opening credits!

So, get this—there’s all this buzz floating around about a spin-off, like a whole movie centered on Sandsov! And get it this good: Rodriguez actually dropped a hint in a recent interview that they’re already deep in development on a Sandsov game for PlayStation! It's wild, right? Also, just thinking out loud here, but those Sandsov scripts? They're basically 90% pure Depp improvisation. Honestly, the guy is a total genius whenever that spark hits him—he just goes off the rails in the best way possible!

Sandra King86 said:If we can even use a word like "sophisticated" to describe either of these two guys, I’d say Rodriguez has always been the more "refined" one compared to Tarantino. 😁😬

Oh, sure, you totally can—if you're being sarcastic...

Man, that scene with the guitar that somehow acts as a guitar, a leaf blower, AND a machine gun at the same time... 🤣
Sandra King86 said:Tarantino is just straight-up bizarre, whereas Rodriguez actually does his thing with a certain style. That's just how I see it. 🙂
OUTIM is a great flick (even though I’m not really a fan of Depp, I gotta admit he was a solid choice for the Sands role 👍 ).

Look, I love Depp (not just because of the looks—I'm not a total creep, obviously!—but because of the acting) ever since I saw Cry Baby in theaters—you know, that Waters parody of the greaser era. He's got some bad roles, sure, but he also has some absolute gems. Like, he was brilliant in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

But that part where Depp shoots the chef? Man, that totally floored me... I almost fell right out of my chair...
The Outsiders trilogy in Movies ·
Is Rodriguez just messing around? Like, for real?

Or is he actually being serious here? I haven't seen his first one, but I caught Desperado and OUTIM, and man, I was absolutely cracking up... It’s just—I can't tell if Rodriguez is a total clown (doesn't seem likely, given how he killed it in Sin City) or just a really great jokester?

In OUTIM, that scene on the plaza—as soon as it starts, you've got like four motorcycles jumping all over the square, everyone’s pulling weapons... right in the middle of the day, in the main plaza! It feels like Johnny Depp is definitely playing for laughs, but with Rodriguez, I'm just not 100% sure what the vibe is...

Ivory said:Man, I just can't get these books to download. Seriously, could you please just upload them again? Every time I click the link, it just opens this exact same thread in a new window instead of actually grabbing the book file!😠 😁 👋

It works fine for me—just right-click and hit "save as..."

Give it another shot. If it’s still being glitchy, I'll try hosting it somewhere else. Honestly, I don't have the energy to set up yet another free hosting site, and the one I usually use is undergoing some kind of upgrade or whatever.

Sandra King86 said:Look, it's your movie, 🤣 but saying that Cate is some predictable actress 😲 just isn't the truth at all.

Cate has this face that film screens just absolutely love—seriously, she has these incredible eyes, super expressive, almost poetic...😍
Compared to Tilda Swinton, Cate feels way more feminine and sensual. Tilda’s whole thing—whether you call it an edge or a drawback—is that she has this totally androgynous vibe.

You need someone who can actually pull off roles like:
1) Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct
2) Livia in Julius Caesar
3) Gary Oldman in Dracula

Honestly, Tilda Swinton seems like the better pick to me. Though, man, it's super tough to find an actress who is that versatile—someone who can be a total bombshell and a seductress, but also a master manipulator running an empire, or even a witch/vampire type.

Oh man, I just stumbled onto this—turns out there's a movie based on those crazy true events from Cuckoo's Egg:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0126765/

It’s called 23, and it basically retells everything from the perspective of the hackers themselves. If you haven't seen it, Cuckoo's Egg is that wild story by Cliff Stoll (check out those posts a few threads up)—he was this physicist/part-time sysadmin trying to track down hackers, but this flick focuses on the bad guys. I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet, so I have zero clue if it's any good, but now I'm totally obsessed with finding a copy.

That whole saga was huge, though—like, seriously important stuff. It basically kicked off modern computer security policies, things like "don't use dictionary passwords" and setting up those email lists to blast out security patches, all that jazz.

I haven't caught the movie, but I've read the book a bunch of times! It starts off pretty slow—just some new guy at a computer center dealing with a glitch in accounting and stuff—but once it really gets moving? Man, you cannot put it down. Definitely gotta grab this movie.

Anyway, it isn't exactly a "hacker movie," but I bet most people don't even realize this one exists:
[fanfareupozadi]Pirates of Silicon Valley[/fanfareupozadi]
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168122/
The main crew: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Steve Ballmer, and Paul Allen. And get this—John DiMaggio plays Steve Ballmer! Yeah, the same guy who does the voice for Bender in Futurama 🤣

I haven't seen this one either, but it is definitely going on my list... I see they have it on DVD on Amazon, so it's definitely getting added to my next binge-watch session

ironcrane7 said:Just write the script, and I'll play casting director. 😁

Ugh, if only I actually had any writing talent... or, you know, any connections to a big-shot producer... lol. Just imagine—a wild mashup of Basic Instinct, Dracul, ja Klaudije, and Rosemain, except it’s all based on a true story, and all the craziest, most intense scenes take place right in the heart of Chicago and New York! 😲

And then at the very end of the movie, the screen fades to black and it says:
Based on a true story. Most of today's European royal families are direct descendants of Barbara celjski.
Female serial killers? in Movies ·
I was doing a little deep dive into Barbara celjski online and man, I stumbled onto some seriously wild stuff... I mean, I already knew the basic legends and the bare-bones biography you get in history class, but turns out she had a freaking fascinating life.
According to this site:
http://www.carantha.net/slovenian_nobility.htm
it looks like Barbara was super educated, incredibly sharp, and a total political mastermind—like, she basically spent 50 years playing chess with the Habsburgs to block their expansion into the South and East. And get this—Tilda Swinton actually looks just like her! Of course, this one foreign site mostly sticks to the politics and the power plays, but apparently, Barbara was also really into alchemy and occult stuff... plus, word is she was quite the player, though honestly, most of those rumors probably came from her enemies trying to smear her name.
The original Barbara:

Tilda Swinton:

So, here’s the connection: Barbara, sex, lesbianism, vampires, and Count Dracul:
http://www.blooferland.com/drc/image.../03McNally.rtf

Motherfuck !!!!! WHY HASN'T ANYONE MADE A MOVIE ABOUT HER?!?!?! Seriously, she sounds like one of the most interesting women from the late Middle Ages... way more interesting than some boring old guys like King Arthur, Richard the Lionheart, or William Wallace.

Sandra King86 said:Oh, really? Is we talking actual voodoo vibes here, or just some dramatic flair? 😁
I'm actually hearing about Barbara for the first time. Like, give me the tea!

People say the Queen's tooth is named after her—basically, she was *the* Queen, had her own summer estate and everything.

Wait, how are you just hearing about this now? The Black Queen? That's legendary stuff! You clearly haven't been reading any noir novels lately...

She’s totally wild—honestly, I find the whole Barbara Celjski saga way more gripping than the stuff about Vlad the Impaler. It wasn't strictly voodoo, but there was definitely some dark magic and occultist craziness going on...

Right, because Wikipedia obviously leaves out all the juicy bits like her love life, the killings, the black magic, and the Satanism... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_of_Cilli

A high-budget horror movie based on her life would be insane! But man, who could even play her? Sharon Stone? Nah, doesn't quite fit the vibe... Juliette Lewis is totally unhinged, which is great, but she feels a little too "all-American" to pull off an imperial European royal. Who else? Angelina Jolie? She definitely proved in Georgia that she can handle that kind of intensity... We need someone incredibly sexy, but also someone who looks like they might actually snap.

Sandra King86 said:Mad respect for the effort. 👍

The only thing popping into my head right now is:
Elizabeth Bathory

😱

And what about Barbara Celjski? Legend has it she lived to be 150—totally wild—had a massive string of lovers, and ended up killing most of them! People say she stayed alive that long because she was out there doing some ritualistic sacrifices with young girls or some weird voodoo stuff... She even spent part of her life chilling at a castle outside of Philly 😱

The production scale of porn, though! Seriously—how big of a crew do you think Buñuel had running around when he was filming Viridiana?

quietdriver3 said:The numbers jump up a bit if you’re actually paying for licensed software instead of pirating everything.

That amount would basically just get you one decent three-chip camera setup,

I mean, HDTV camcorders aren't exactly breaking the bank... relatively speaking! But then you've got the real snobs out there swapping lenses constantly... we're talking about video releases here, not some big Hollywood blockbuster production.
quietdriver3 said:I mean, people...

I'm talking about the Badave crowd—you know, those hardcore enthusiasts.
quietdriver3 said:But you've gotta feed all that stuff...

Like, a quarter loaf of bread and ten ounces of venison.

Streetcar.

silentpuma9 said:Office Space is such a killer satire on office life, but it doesn't really have much to do with hackers...
I mean, maybe a tiny bit, but that’s not even the point of the movie, right?--not even close!

Anyway—it's an absolute classic. Highly recommend it to everyone out there...

Office Space

👍

Actually, it totally does! Most of those guys bragging about being hackers are exactly like Samir and Michael. I mean, Robert Redford can only be a hacker in the movies, haha.

Mind you, not everyone is gonna vibe with it. If you haven't lived through that corporate grind yourself, you won't get like 90% of the jokes. It's kind of like when I tried showing people that old cop show *Dragnet*—if you haven't spent your life stuck in those cubicle mazes, they just find it super boring.

Hey, I already said this isn't exactly bedtime story material! 😠 😁

Man, you actually inspired me—I went ahead and fired up my emulator to start grabbing everything. But, you know how these emulators can be... sometimes they just sit there spinning, so I might not actually get through the queue for another week or so. Still, books are tiny files, right? Once the download actually kicks into gear, a whole bunch of them will fly down in no time. As soon as they're all sitting on my drive, I'll toss them onto a web server and drop a link for everyone here.
