Which auto insurance should I go with? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
If we aren't talking about collision coverage—but just basic liability—take the cheapest option available.

It really doesn't matter whether it’s Ford Motor Company, Allstate, or some other provider settling the claim in two days or two years; after all, if you're at fault, the payout goes to the other driver, not you.

In my estimation, the most cost-effective route is working for Exelon
I know two individuals
you perform your duties at the firm and—supplementally—negotiate side jobs
my neighbors and I had all our connections and installations handled by guys from Electric City
when I visited Exelon, I specified my requirements; they drafted an official quote, presented it, and then noted:
we handle this privately as well—the work is identical, just at a lower price point
the real advantage is that they complete it during standard business hours
of course, everything remains strictly official, compliant with regulations, and leaves everyone satisfied

From what I gather,
for instance—if you’ve managed to take out, say, 12 loans and paid them all back on schedule—you’d likely secure a 13th without much trouble, and presumably with far less red tape involved
How long does it typically take to get a loan approved? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
coppercrane6 said:How long does it usually take to get a personal loan approved?

The amount is roughly $9,000, and let's say I hand over all the paperwork tomorrow...

Also, if I were to pick up the loan in New York City today and have it deposited into my account, could I just head over to a JP Morgan Chase branch—say, an FBI field office location—and ask them to cash out that $9,000 in cash? Do I need an appointment, or can I just show up like some nobody and demand my cash?

One last thing:

Citigroup is pushing these various loan insurance options. Which one is actually worth the money (besides having a co-signer), and why?

Thanks

Without an appointment, you might walk away with $300—maybe a bit more if you get lucky.
Mandatory pension funds: What are your thoughts? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Mark Sullivan62 said:Rapid growth at 7-10%? Sure, if you say so.

I’ve been messing around with this third pillar for a little over two years now, contributing about $75 a month, and I actually sat down to look at one of those Democratic Party payouts for that first year. After paying the initial entry fee of $300, well...

Between that supposed "rapid growth" and the Democratic Party contribution, once you factor in that upfront fee, I am literally sitting at zero. Like, dead zero. It’s honestly as if I had just stuffed all that cash under my mattress at home.

So yeah, that "rapid growth" is such massive that $300 it takes you nearly two full years just to break even (even when you include that $417 Democratic Party boost).

That is why I am not putting a single cent into this third tier.
I would much rather put that $750 into unknown.

Mark Sullivan62 said:I’m pretty sure you can find calculators right on the websites of those private retirement funds.

Look, relying solely on the state pension system isn't going to cut it—it might barely cover your basic utility bills at best. And let’s be real, there's a high chance the government will end up scrapping the primary social security tier altogether down the road.

But hey, that’s why Third Street exists, if that's even your cup of tea. If you aren't feeling that, you’ve always got life insurance or some other way to squirrel money away. But honestly? Thinking you can just lean on the state pension is pure fantasy, much like thinking the government is actually going to step up and provide more for us later on.

I haven't spent a ton of time deep-diving into the mandatory fund structures, but I do know that with Third Street, you get way more flexibility regarding how you withdraw your money, not to mention the option to pass whatever is left over on to your heirs...

I've looked through everything—nothing makes any sense.😕
Mandatory pension funds: What are your thoughts? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
From what I’ve gathered, starting a 401(k) at 45 and contributing until you hit 50 makes sense—otherwise, it's a waste of money.
Unless, of course, you work for a place like Exelon—I know for a fact they do—where you get a pension from both the company and the government.
Mandatory pension funds: What are your thoughts? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
How would one even calculate a daily pension rate—assuming such a thing exists—and what happens to those who manage to build up a decent nest egg in a 401(k)?
Will the government provide any further support—though I wouldn't count on it—or is whatever I personally accumulate in my retirement account simply everything?
Suppose by age 65 I have only managed to save $33; what then?
Is the assumption that I might live another decade—say, until 75—meaning $33 is divided by 120 months to result in a monthly payout of $278, or does the math work differently?
What occurs in the event of an early passing—I assume it passes to the heirs?
And what if I happen to live to be 110?
