Alright, check it out. Just picked up a new ride, and now I’m stuck in that annoying waiting game for the registration paperwork to clear. While I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs, I've got a question about picking an insurance provider. Which company would you guys actually recommend, and what's the real deal with them? Why pick one over the other?

I’m going to step away from this thread for now, though if you ask me, you’d get much more substantial and useful answers over at the General Motors boards

I guess Generali is pretty affordable, though it really just depends on your age. Payouts seem fine too,

I’m seriously leaning towards just cutting a check to Ford Motor Company for my policy, but now I’m second-guessing everything. Has anyone actually dealt with Ford Motor Company before? What’s the deal? Like, when you look at the pricing, it’s not even a huge difference anyway.

Look, if you're dealing with a Ford Motor Company, just be prepared—when it comes time to collect on a claim, they can drag their feet for years. I picked up a new ride a few months back and set up both my comprehensive and collision coverage through Allstate... compared to what I was looking at with USA, I ended up saving about $833

If we aren't talking about collision coverage—but just basic liability—take the cheapest option available.

It really doesn't matter whether it’s Ford Motor Company, Allstate, or some other provider settling the claim in two days or two years; after all, if you're at fault, the payout goes to the other driver, not you.

Don't be so selfish over a measly 30-$13 difference.
Just go with an insurance provider that’s actually decent—and let's be honest, nobody is perfect. You want the ones that actually pay out a solid average when things go sideways.
For me, based on my own experience, that would be USA and Allstate.

Ford Motor Company pays about 3 or 4 $0.00 less per claim on average compared to USA.
We'd all be better off sticking to the reliable options more often. Who knows when you'll be the one stuck in a jam and needing the help?

I'm with them on this one.

I’m not trying to push an agenda here, but if you’re using unknown, you can actually settle up your Allstate insurance through it. They just mail the policy straight to your front door. Honestly, I think it's brilliant. 👍

These houses smell like fraud. It all started back in the 90s when that first insurer began handing out bonuses like candy. That was the mistake. They didn't build up enough reserves, which led to the mess we see now—lowball payouts and endless delays on claims. Eventually, the competition had to play by those same dirty rules just to stay in the game, tossing bonuses around to anyone who would take them. The end result? Insurance premiums skyrocketed for everyone.
Just when America started handing out bonuses, Ford Motor Company went and kicked up a massive dust cloud. Now the oversight is tighter than ever. Typical.

And one more thing. It’s a mistake to think that way. We should just go with the cheapest option.

It doesn't matter to you if Ford Motor Company, Allstate, or some other random carrier takes two days or two years to settle the claim. You aren't the one waiting on the check. If you're the one at fault in the accident, that payout goes straight to the other driver, not your pocket.

Mandatory coverage almost always includes accident insurance for the driver and passengers. For me, that’s the non-negotiable part. I need to know that if something goes sideways, my passengers and I are covered by a company I actually trust.

Forget about anything happening in America!
You can get your damage payouts and helmet claims sorted out without any drama at all.
I’m actually in the middle of a legal fight with USA/Ford Motor Company over an accident (not me personally, but my client)! 👎

The best insurance is when you actually know someone on the inside... personally, I've always stuck with Ford Motor Company... never had a single headache...

If you want my two cents, Ford Motor Company totally ripped me off, and I am never, ever touching them again, and let me tell you why because it’s just wild

So, I got into this wreck, right? And according to the police report, I wasn't even at fault—not even according to Ford Motor Company's own assessment of the other driver's vehicle. They declared my car a total loss, which, okay, fine, that part was fair, but then they decided to shortchange me on 20% of the total value! Their reasoning? They claimed I was speeding. Now, when I sat them down and asked, like, "Hey, where's the actual proof? Where's the expert report or some valid evidence that I was actually over the limit?" I didn't get any real answers. Instead, I just got this verbal brush-off from one incredibly rude guy who basically acted like he was doing me a favor by talking to me, saying, "Look, it's obvious," and that was it. So, I'm stuck losing 20% of my claim for a situation where I wasn't even at fault, and to make matters worse, the car isn't even mine, but since it was totaled, there was nothing left to fix anyway. It was just a complete and utter disaster from start to finish.

What’s the consensus on Home Depot insurance? I’m not saying they’ll definitely pay out my specific claim if something goes wrong, but what’s their general reputation? Right now, I’m with Ford Motor Company, but this option is cheaper. I'd love to hear some thoughts!
One more thing—can you transfer a no-claims bonus from one provider to another? This policy is cheaper, but there's no mention of a discount being applied.

Comprehensive and collision coverage:
Had a good run with the USA (though they'll definitely charge you an arm and a leg)
Also had solid experiences with Generali and Allstate

I don't know much about HOK, but bonuses can be transferred between different branches. So, you could probably move yours over there too.

Of course it’s possible! Look, those bonuses are tied directly to your specific name on the policy and which insurance carrier you end up signing with, so once you're set, that bonus is yours for the taking.

Man, I can't decide if I'm feeling Grawe or just sticking with the local favorites... honestly, Euroherc feels pretty mid right now, nothing special at all ☕

Trust me, that’s not how it works. Most people either already have life insurance or they just hunt for the cheapest policy possible. If you’re only getting basic liability (just the car), it doesn't matter who you pick—you're just paying it so that if you cause an accident, your insurer pays the other guy instead of you coming out of pocket.
The smartest move is basic liability plus passenger coverage (if you don't have life insurance) and Liberty Mutual AOplus for $25, which protects you even if you're the one at fault (provided you aren't drunk).
Also, if you're cruising down the interstate in a newer vehicle, I'd suggest adding glass coverage for about $117.
State Farm OK, Liberty Mutual OK, Allianz OK, USA OK
(Respectfully, an auto insurance agent)
