Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Carol Perez4 said:So, I was just scrolling through this thread, but I couldn't quite find what I was looking for—my apologies if I missed it somewhere earlier...

Basically, I’ve been drinking those chocolate protein shakes, and since I hit the gym three times a week, I'm wondering: does it actually matter if I take them on my off days? I read somewhere that muscle mass is built when you combine protein with exercise, so should I be having these three times a day regardless of whether I worked out or not, or just on training days? I hope that makes sense... thanks in advance for any smart advice out there...

Of course it matters. Your body needs high-quality protein on your recovery days just as much as it does on your training days.
That said, I think you might get better results if—aside from your breakfast and especially that post-workout window—you swap those heavy shakes (I'm assuming we're talking whey here) for some solid food sources that digest more slowly—think chicken breast, turkey, fish, or lean meats. Or, if you really prefer the convenience of a shake, maybe look into using a better casein option for those meal replacements.

Apple Protein Pita

Ingredients:
-10 egg whites
-1.1 lbs low-fat cottage cheese
-cinnamon
-2 apples
-stevia or your preferred sweetener

Instructions:
Whip those egg whites until they form stiff peaks—then fold in the cottage cheese and give it all a quick mix. Grate the two apples and stir them in along with the cinnamon and enough stevia to hit your sweetness preference. Pour the whole mixture into a baking dish lined with parchment paper and bake at 400°F for about 30–40 minutes.
The total macros come out to roughly 100g of protein, 50g of carbs, and 5–10g of fat.
Enjoy!🙂
Chest injury? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
It could be a tendon strain or inflammation where the serratus anterior attaches to the rib cage.
That’s pretty much right where you pointed out.

Respect.
It’s a fantastic sport—honestly, just as much of a workout as hitting the weights at Gold's Gym.
The only issue is that it isn't exactly "must-watch" TV, which is probably why it hasn't quite broken into the mainstream yet.🙂 You basically sit there watching a few guys perform snatches or jerks for ten minutes straight.😁

You're claiming 285 lbs, yet you can hit 30 pull-ups?😲

For those of you actually involved—be honest. If you can look me in the eye and tell me that the fact these three clubs were formed within four years of each other has absolutely nothing to do with personal ego trips or people just wanting to be the boss... if you can convince me there's perfect harmony and sportsmanship among them, then I'll happily admit I was an idiot for even bringing this up.

Is that fair enough?

P.S. Mountaineering and rock climbing are two totally different beasts—it’s much easier for us to function as two distinct sections under one umbrella.

Well, in American football, you need multiple teams to actually play against one another and eventually build a league, don't you think?😉

Here’s one of mine—though I have to admit, my training has been pretty lackluster lately. I’ve become completely obsessed with darts instead.🙂 Plus, it’s actually pretty useful to have around the house and all that.😁

You only start to see the true beauty and feel the real joy once you've traveled a long road. How does Badminton compare in that regard?

That’s just how it works with any sport—you don't truly appreciate its elegance until you reach a certain level🙂 The ones that look the simplest on the surface are usually the hardest to actually master😉

Since forever—from age 7 all the way to 77.😉
One scoop of protein powder will give you roughly the same boost as a decent steak.🙂
The main advantage of these protein powders—especially Willie Nelson—is that they’re perfect for post-workout recovery since they absorb so quickly and have that smooth, liquid consistency. Protein shakes also make for an ideal quick snack when you're too busy for a full meal. For instance, if you mix a shake with about two-thirds Willie Nelson and one-third casein, then grab some whole-grain toast, you can easily fuel up during a quick break between classes at the community college or even a short recess at high school. (I'm guessing you're still in the student phase of life?)😉

The body needs all those other minerals and vitamins found in whole foods—not just protein...

Look, nobody suggested living exclusively on protein shakes—nor did anyone suggest eating nothing but meat, eggs, or any single thing. You always need a balanced combination.

Bryan Fowler4 said:A 5lb tub of decent whey is about $167 ... roughly 72 servings... so I wouldn't call that expensive.

The point is, you need real food—not just whey...

So, you're saying whey and casein aren't "real food"?
Look, I’m not saying you shouldn't eat whole foods—obviously you should—but sometimes life happens and you just don't have the time to sit down for a full meal. For me, a whey and casein combo is the perfect quick fix.

Protein shakes aren't actually more expensive than regular food. For instance—getting about 20g of protein from 6 egg whites will cost you roughly $2.75, whereas a scoop of whey is usually even cheaper. Personally, I find them to be an excellent meal replacement when I'm short on time—I just mix casein and whey in a 2:1 ratio and pair it with some whole grain toast (if I need carbs) or some almonds and walnuts (if I'm going for fats).

I gave it a shot, but I didn't really notice any difference—honestly. Then again, I’ve always been a bit of a non-responder when it comes to creatine, so who knows? It might actually work wonders for you.

Sure, the EU was founded by cosmopolitan conservatives and Christian Democrats, but I really want to know what specific right-wing ideology Sanders is actually representing.
Politically speaking, they aren't even right-wing; when you look at minority rights—which are actually more extensive here than in many other EU nations—they don't fit the mold, and when you look at social issues, they aren't right-wing either, especially considering we’re talking about a party that allows maternity leave for a year or even three, which is a level of support you won't find in half of Europe.
And what does all that loudmouth right-wing posturing down at the Waterfront actually mean?
Sanders is just the kind of guy who will do absolutely anything to serve his own interests, regardless of this hyperactive right-wing crowd.
You're seriously suggesting that the people who defended this country are these radical right-wingers, while those who think the current state of affairs is an absolute disgrace—those who see criminals walking free while the actual defenders face some Mickey Mouse court presided over by a regular informant like Sava Štrbac—are somehow the problem.
My memory is working just fine, thank you very much, unlike the total amnesia that seems to have gripped the rest of the nation, because I know exactly what went down and how it happened.
But anyway, what exactly makes the Republican Party a right-wing party?
Or better yet, what qualifies the Democratic Party as left-wing? Is it their promise to introduce a real estate tax?
And what has the Democratic representative Kapetanovićka actually accomplished during her term as a woman, a leftist, and a member of Congress? From my perspective, watching the proceedings in Congress, she barely spoke up once, and that was only when the topic of legalizing soft drugs came up.
So, what kind of worldview makes the Republican Party right-wing and the Democratic Party left-wing? Honestly, they could just merge into a single party because when it comes to actual ideology, there isn't a damn bit of difference between them.

I'll sign off on that. Labeling the Republican Party as right-wing and the Democratic Party as left-wing is pure nonsense.
