mistyjackal842 said:It’s definitely better if you can manage without a feeding tube. As for ostomy supplies, there’s a specialized shop called Stoma Medical—they used to be over at the Remiza area, but I think they’ve moved, so maybe check online. Also, I believe there’s a local Stoma Association that might be able to send a specialist to your house once you're back. Regardless, make sure to ask your primary care doctor about home health care services. The big question is whether that specific nurse will be trained for this. We worked with Dominic, and usually, if they aren't sure, they just send someone who actually knows what they're doing. That’s how it worked for me when my dad needed IV infusions at home. You can also get visiting nurses through your doctor; typically, the GP refers you to home health, and then they assess what kind of care is actually needed. There’s also Preradović's home care service—try checking who has available nurses, though keep in mind everyone is on vacation during the summer. And honestly, be careful with those random ads you mentioned; anyone could respond to those. Just stay vigilant. I'm pretty sure you're entitled to ostomy bags via mail order, so give Stoma Medical a call. They’re really lovely people. You should also be covered for adult diapers through mail order too.

Thank you so much—this is all incredibly helpful, and we’re going to start looking into everything right away. Honestly, I had some guy email me recently acting like an expert because his wife used to "care for politicians," and he actually tried to lecture me on communication etiquette—saying I should call instead of emailing! I just told him, "Look, we're the ones paying, so we decide how we communicate. Goodbye."🙄🙄🙄
Thanks so much for all your replies! I just got off the phone with the doctor—he mentioned that while he'll need to have a stoma for life, he'll be able to eat everything normally just like the rest of the family, so clearly the feeding tube is going away. He did say the tumor was at an advanced stage, but we’re waiting on the official results so the oncologist can figure out the next steps. Until then, we're essentially in limbo. According to him, he should probably stay in the hospital for at least another week.
I actually found a Facebook group called "Elderly and Disability Care"—they post ads there for caregivers and nurses, as well as people looking for help.
Hello everyone!
I never imagined I’d be posting here one day—life really has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them.
Here’s the situation: my mother-in-law just underwent surgery for a massive malignant intestinal tumor, and unfortunately, it has already metastasized to her liver and lungs. She’s had to get an ostomy bag installed—you know, the kind that needs regular changing. We’re still waiting on all the specific details, but the prognosis isn't looking great right now. She’s still at the hospital; they actually moved her from the ICU to the abdominal surgery ward yesterday. For now, she’s mostly getting nutrition through a feeding tube. What we're trying to figure out is if anyone here has experience hiring caregivers, as she’s going to need 24/7 assistance. Also, if any of you have dealt with a similar situation in your own family, I would truly appreciate it if you could share your story.
If anyone can recommend a professional, highly experienced caregiver, please send me a private message.
Thank you all so much in advance!

That concert at the Lincoln Center last Saturday was absolutely phenomenal!!!🙏🙏🙏

Thanks a million to everyone for all the helpful replies!

Now, I’ve got one more quick question—roughly what kind of damage am I looking at for the SSD, those extra GB of RAM, and a good deep cleaning? Also, could you

maybe shoot me a DM with a recommendation for someone reliable—ideally somewhere on the West Coast side of town?

🙏

Just run a scan with Malwarebytes, then open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type "sfc /scannow" (minus the quotes). Give the laptop a quick restart after that.

Where am I supposed to find this Command Prompt? I mean, I know it’s not tucked away in my refrigerator, but still...😲😲🤣🤣

When was the last time you actually opened it up and blew out all that dust? That’s likely your culprit here—though there's a chance you're dealing with some bad sectors on your Hard Drive.
The best move would be swapping out the optical drive for an SSD and installing Windows 10 on that; then you can just keep your current Hard Drive for all your photos, videos, docs, downloads, and music...

Oh man, what even is an SSD?🤦🤦
Is there anything I can actually upgrade in a laptop?🤔

The only thing I'm still wondering about regarding your title—since you mentioned moving folders to an external drive—is whether you did that just to free up some space? Like, maybe you moved them to an external drive and then plugged it back in whenever you needed to find something specific?

Yeah, exactly—I actually moved quite a few files over to an external drive.
Hi everyone!
I could really use some advice—should I just toss this laptop in the trash, or is there something else I can do?
Basically, it’s become an absolute nightmare to use; it’s incredibly slow and constantly freezes up. Here are the specs from Speccy:

No sound, but everything else seems fine? in IT Support ·
I could really use some emergency help here! I have a webinar scheduled for tomorrow, and my audio is acting incredibly glitchy—it’s just dead. Everything works perfectly fine during the testing phase, but as soon as I exit the test mode, I can't hear myself OR anyone else. My husband and I tried running a quick test over Zoom to troubleshoot, but no luck. I'm attaching some screenshots below; if anyone has a spare moment and the patience to help me out, I would be so incredibly grateful!🙂

Alexander Diaz4 said:All the pictures and stuff look great, but you forgot one thing—which program did you actually use? Was it Skype?

Actually, no—I was sent this specific link:

I tried troubleshooting my microphone issues through there (I'm using Chrome), but I haven't had any luck yet.🕺

Hey everyone—if there are any of you out there! I was supposed to hop on a call with the Americans today, but it was a total disaster; they could hear me just fine, but I couldn't hear a single thing they were saying. Apparently, I needed to tweak some microphone settings, but—well, I had no clue how to do that. So, I'm posting a bunch of screenshots here to hopefully make it easier for you all to see what's going wrong.
I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Driver Easy in IT Support ·
Hey everyone!

My screen suddenly flooded with a system error warning saying my computer needed a reboot—and once it restarted, this Easy driver program popped up.

Does anyone know much about this software? From what I can gather, it scans for and updates drivers—is it actually worth having on your machine? Thanks!

I really need some help here!

I set up a poll where I intended for people to pick five different shows, but whenever someone opens it, they're only given the option to select one single answer from the ten choices provided.
thanks so much in advance!🙏

To be honest, I’m just as confused as everyone else—I haven't come across anyone who does that either.🤦

Unfortunately, she doesn't. I've actually been to see her several times for various checkups, but she doesn't issue referrals, write prescriptions, or sign off on medical leave
the way a primary care doctor would
You can get quite a few tests done there—but despite what you might see online, she doesn't run a general practice office
I even gave them a call today just to double-check

Urgent, everyone! Does anyone know if there's a private family practice or general practitioner available in New York City? I've been scouring the internet but I'm coming up totally empty-handed.

Thanks so much in advance!!!
