brighthawk0 said:Well, from everything I've read here on the forum regarding antidepressants, some people claim they felt totally numb on certain meds. Then again, maybe the numbness comes from the illness itself... I guess that's something worth digging into during therapy.

Numb emotions? Please. It could be the illness, sure, but those feelings usually hit hardest during therapy sessions.😉

Zachary Stewart2 said:Has anyone else dealt with that total emotional numbness after taking their meds? I'm curious—how long does this usually stick around, and when does it finally lift? Any advice on how to handle feeling so flat?

Xanax—and honestly, most benzos—will definitely dull your emotions. It’s not quite the same with antidepressants, though. In psychotherapy, you actually work through those feelings rather than just masking them.

Gerald Torres2 said:I second that! It always hits the mark for me... unlike Benzos, where I feel like I'm constantly having to bump up the dose just to get the same effect.

So true!

Zachary Stewart2 said:I’m wondering if this feeling of being totally emotionally numb will actually lift if I switch things up—like, if I stop taking my current meds or swap them for something else I already have a tolerance to? I’ve got an appointment this week, so I want to bring up switching medications... or is my psychiatrist just going to suggest it herself? I really hope she knows her stuff, because I seriously can't keep going on this same regimen forever.

I’m also on Xanax at night. In the beginning, it was great for helping me drift off—I’d basically just collapse onto the bed—and I’d sleep through the night. But lately, the insomnia is back. It’s been like this for a few months now. I even tried bumping up the dose, but nothing. It’s pretty obvious my Xanax just isn't hitting the mark anymore.

Look, Xanax isn't actually a sleep aid; it’s for anxiety, and it's incredibly easy to get hooked on it. Your body starts demanding higher and higher doses just to feel normal. If you were ever dealing with a 20mg dependency, just imagine the absolute chaos that does to your system.🙄

It's actually an atypical anticonvulsant used in psychiatry to help stabilize mood and prevent those massive swings—plus, it has some great anti-anxiety properties.
It isn't even a benzo; it's clonazepam.

I heard something on the radio today on KROQ—that familiar voice, but wait, was she singing in Italian? It sounded just like Lady Gaga😲

brighthawk0 said:None of these benzos actually work for me. Not Ativan, not Klonopin, not anything... it’s almost like my own brain refuses to accept Valium. It just tells me that stuff isn't for me. But honestly? I still need something once in a while just to take the edge off.

Valium works wonders for me—I've been using it for years now.

When things aren't clearly defined—when I'm not leaning into being a pessimist or an optimist, but just hovering right in that gray area—time doesn't really feel fast or slow to me. It just feels steady. Like a middle ground.

The good days? They fly by in a blink. But those heavy, miserable minutes? They just seem to stretch on forever.

Hey, has anyone here actually tried taking two tablets of Faverin 200?

I'm pretty sure I was on a higher dose back when I was dealing with a GAP episode—it was ages ago, but I know we were hitting the maximum limit.

I didn't experience that personally—but it could definitely happen. You should probably check the patient information leaflet and definitely run it by your therapist.

I'm curious if you experienced anything beyond just nausea—which seems to be a pretty common side effect—such as heightened anxiety, intense psychomotor agitation (like being unable to sit still), trouble concentrating, or dizziness. Based on your experience, how long does this usually last? Everything hit me all at once, and honestly, it's becoming unbearable. I'd love to stop taking this medication as soon as possible.

I barely made it through three weeks on that stuff—it was brutal. I felt constantly drugged or lightheaded, so I finally told my doctor I couldn't deal with it anymore, and that was that; she switched me over to a different med immediately.😍

Paul Newman5 said:Thanks for the info, but when you can text your doctor at 9 PM and actually get a reply, that’s a privilege. Just stating a fact—not everyone has that kind of access, and they can't. That was just my take, or maybe a clumsy comment, but calling me stupid for it is unnecessary. It feels like you're calling me an idiot, which isn't nice, especially since I wasn't even attacking you directly.

Yeah, after 11 years of therapy, I know a privilege when I see one.
Look, I really don't want to get into a back-and-forth argument here—it's just not worth it. In the context of what I was asking, that comment felt unnecessary, but hey, we all process things differently, right? We're all a little sensitive sometimes—I certainly am!—and I have no desire to be
Long story short, the info is what matters.

You're talking nonsense here. What made you think I'm on a first-name basis with my doctor? Even if I were, what does that have to do with our actual topic? I was simply trying to pass along some information—if that's not relevant to you, then there's really nothing left for us to discuss.

Well, it finally happened—I just got the notification that I’m officially registered for anxiety treatment. Voila!😛

restlesstrucker15 said:To clarify, a primary care physician can actually face penalties from Medicare if they prescribe a medication for which there is no established diagnosis. Unfortunately, there are certain conditions that require treatment, yet those specific illnesses aren't included in Medicare's approved list of indications.
I have mentioned this before regarding my own experience with Lyric; both my psychiatrist for anxiety and my neurologist for neuropathic pain prescribed it, but then the doctor told me, "Look, I can't write this prescription for you because the guidelines state it can only be issued if you suffer from epilepsy."
One really needs to check the official drug formulary regarding Quetiapine. If I recall correctly, it is only listed for psychosis. If someone, like Rejica, manages to get it covered by Medicare, they are quite lucky, as it means their GP simply doesn't care what the insurance guidelines say.
As for the criticisms directed at psychiatrists, they are no different from the critiques leveled at any other medical specialists. I was on Sanval for a long time—perhaps it was a mistake on my previous psychiatrist's part—but after trying everything else live and feeling absolutely terrible, she referred me to the Sleep Disorders Center in Sparrow to see if they could devise a better therapy.
When I explained my situation there, they essentially told me there was no third option: it was either stay on Sanval or accept living like a zombie all day.
That said, the doctor there didn't seem particularly invested in my case, though I had only gone there seeking pharmacological advice anyway.

Furthermore, I disagree with the notion that anxiety can be cured without medication; rather, medication can assist in the healing process. These drugs are not prescribed just because we feel a bit uneasy; they are prescribed long-term when you describe physical symptoms to a psychiatrist, which then constitutes a valid indication for tablets.

Wait, restlesstrucker15, what on earth are you talking about?! Seriously, because of this debate, I’m going to shoot a quick text to my doctor—she already told me that Q-pin is now officially on the list for anxiety.

Jason Vaughn482 said:Well, thank you so much. She offered it to me once and I turned it down, but now that I’m heading in, I think I might actually agree to it. Between the lack of quality sleep and this lingering anxiety, I am desperate to finally move past the Sanval. So, just to clarify, you aren't taking anything else alongside it, like an antidepressant or perhaps some Rivotril? And tell me, don't those 25 mg doses in the morning leave you feeling drowsy or sluggish? I feel perpetually exhausted, and I suspect it could be the Sanval and Calixte, or perhaps the Xanax—it's hard to tell which is the culprit at this point.

I'm on Effexor, which actually keeps me wide awake during the day.
Klonopin helps keep my mood steady.
I don't feel tired at all—Effexor really "does its job" quite well.😍
As for Calixta, I've only heard rumors that it makes you super sleepy, but I don't have any real info.

Jason Vaughn482 said:In your experience, did you find more relief from taking Prozac or this Seroquel when it comes to tackling both insomnia and that constant knot of anxiety in your chest?
And what kind of dosage actually does the trick for both?

Prazin worked for a bit, but then I hit a wall—tolerance, or saturation, I can't quite recall the term—but honestly, I’d say the Q-pin is better.

I take it three times a day:

75 mg in the morning 25 mg
75 mg at noon 25 mg
100 mg at night 100 mg

In exceptional cases—meaning when I'm under intense stress—I'll take one or two extra 25 mg doses at night to help me sleep. So, my max dose for sleep would be 150 mg, though again, that's only during high-stress or anxious periods.

It's interesting, though—my doctor mentioned there isn't an addictive quality to Q-pin, or rather, that tolerance doesn't develop; I'll have to ask her why, because I'm genuinely curious about that.

What do you mean "high and mighty"? I'm just passing along some info—it's up to you whether you actually use it or not.

shadowbear9 said:My doctor wouldn't even write it for me... she claims she won't put psychosis in my diagnosis if I don't actually have it, and if she doesn't, then my insurance isn't going to cover it. So now I'm just stuck suffering through the Sanval and Xanax. 🤷 It’s incredibly frustrating because I can't exactly order this high-end American sleep medication online easily... three different types of hypnotics and all that nonsense. 😢 Honestly, I'm quite envious of people who have access to it.

Man, seriously, under the new guidelines, Q-PIN is prescribed for tension or anxiety!!!

Tell your doctor to get up to speed on the latest info. 🙄
