restlesstiger49 said:I wasn't given any heads-up. Honestly, I think Michael Hill2 was right when he suggested that doctors prescribe Q-pin just to keep patients from hanging themselves from the rafters while they're off on vacation. My therapist actually took his leave and vanished. They told me to check back in this September, which is a total joke. You get handed these meds and nobody even bothers to ask if they’re actually working for you. They just head out for their summer break and leave you to suffer through it all alone.

fadedbear92 Asks:
It really all comes down to whatever dosage my doctor decides to prescribe.
I take my Q-pin three times a day every morning to help manage my anxiety. 25 mg.
How much did they prescribe you? Are you actually taking it, and what’s the dosage? I’m on Edronax myself, which keeps me wide awake—honestly, that's exactly what I need it for.

I’m taking a little bit of Fevarin right now, though honestly, I have no clue if it's actually doing anything for me. It’s just been added to the long list of medications I’ve tried that turned out to be a total wash.

How long have you been on Fevarin? If you just started, it might make you drowsy since it's in that anxiolytic class of antidepressants. It took about two weeks for my body to adjust before the sleepiness finally wore off.

restlesstiger49 said:Well, those "other uses" actually interest me. I can't shake the feeling that I'm being handed nothing but heavy sedatives just so my therapist can have some peace and quiet. I've dealt with antipsychotics before, and let me tell you, one single pill used to leave me feeling absolutely trashed for two whole days. Now I see that Q-pin is meant for sleep, yet they're handing it to me for a morning shift? It feels like someone is playing games here...

Well, it really depends on what dosage they put you on.
I take Q-pin three times a day at 25 mg to help with anxiety.
What dose did they give you? And are you on anything else? I'm on Edronax, which actually keeps me awake—that's basically its whole job.

But I suppose it’s all mental, isn't it? Over the last two nights, I managed to drift off using 5mg of Xanax. I thought it was a miracle at first, but then the physical pain hit me so hard that I think my brain just couldn't process anything properly. Tonight, I could barely settle down even after taking two Sanval.
Maybe I should try starting some meditation around 8:00 PM to unwind before taking the Sanval at midnight.🙂

restlesstrucker15—I can't quite recall if you’ve ever experimented with the Q-pin? You have the original Seroquel available, though I'm not sure if there's a cost involved. There are also various antiepileptics out there—for instance, Tegretol used to help me drift off perfectly fine back in the day. Honestly, what you're describing regarding sleep sounds more like sucking on Tic Tacs than actual medicine. You really ought to sit down and have a real talk with your doctor; I'm certain there's a solution out there for your insomnia!👋

restlesstiger49 said:I’m honestly a bit stumped—why on earth would I be prescribed Seroquel if I don't have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder? Any thoughts or ideas?

I take Q-pin for my anxiety and insomnia—it's actually pretty common to use higher doses for exactly what you're talking about.

Though, in my opinion, having a terrible reputation among patients is a harsher punishment. Frankly, hitting on a patient is the absolute bottom of the barrel. And that "women recommend him" line? Please. I actually decided a long time ago to work with a female psychotherapist because my previous male therapist didn't quite grasp my perspective. Perhaps it's just my view, but some neurotic disorders seem more intuitive to the female brain. Regardless, there is a wonderful sense of relief when someone truly understands the chaos in your head, especially knowing the psychiatrist isn't struggling with those same specific issues 🙂 if I may say so. Ultimately, the choice is personal, but for me, a female practitioner was necessary.

That one is actually pretty spot on, restlesstrucker15!!! 😍

Benjamin Martin65 said:I’ve been tapering off my Prozac for a few weeks now... at first, I was just taking half a pill, but lately, I’ve started splitting those halves even further, essentially taking a dose one day and then skipping the next
To be honest, about two months ago, I accidentally ran out of my Prozac for maybe three or four days, and let me tell you, it was absolutely miserable—just a complete disaster. Now that I’m lowering my dosage, on those days when I don't take anything at all, I still get these dizzy spells and this strange buzzing sensation in my head, especially if I'm walking around or standing up too quickly. But THEN, the moment I take my dose, everything seems to settle back down.
I’m just really struggling with how to actually finish this process... 🤷 My doctor suggested a much more structured schedule—like one week at half a dose, then one week at three-quarters, and just being done with it—but I think I’d much rather stick to this slower, more gradual approach of my own making...

You should drop it by 1/4 pill every 3-4 days, not by half

Frank King45 said:Hi everyone,
I started taking Effexor a week ago (37.5 mg—one in the morning and one in the afternoon). I haven't dealt with any side effects so far, except for the fact that I wake up at 7:00 AM every single morning, regardless of when I actually fall asleep. I feel exhausted, yet I just can't drift back off. Has anyone else gone through this? Is this something that eventually settles down? 🙂
Oh, and I haven't noticed any positive changes yet. Tomorrow, I'll be moving up to two tablets in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Effexor is just way too stimulating for me—it kept me wired all the time—so we ended up discontinuing it altogether.
Have you been dealing with this drowsiness for a while, or did it only start once you began taking Effexor?
When you're increasing the dose, you really ought to take it slow—maybe just a quarter tablet every three or four days. It's much better than jumping straight in all at once; that way, your body can actually adjust without feeling the shock.

restlesstiger49 said:I have a question for anyone who has used Fevarin in the past or is currently using it. Does anyone experience issues when getting out of bed in the morning—specifically things like dizziness or feeling lightheaded? For context, I take a 50mg dose in the evening.

I used to take mine in the mornings—it took my body a little while to adjust and shake off that grogginess, but once it kicked in, it worked perfectly fine. I stayed on it for quite a few months.
your dose is pretty low, btw

Don't be so shy—I definitely have that streak in me too, but... honestly, just push through it with everything you've got, just like I did

restlesstrucker15 said:Yes, I am aware of your usage. My point was simply that we all take much smaller doses because the antidepressants handle the heavy lifting, which makes it perfectly legitimate. If you weren't on those, you would likely be relying on Xanax constantly.
I don't quite understand why people are so afraid of medication. I get the hesitation, but if you choose to avoid it, you shouldn't complain when things feel difficult.
It is especially valid when the pills were prescribed by a doctor and paired with therapy. If someone prefers drugs or alcohol instead, that is their choice.
In my view, everyone here is actually quite strong because we are taking action; at least we are self-aware about what we are dealing with.

😍Exactly, restlesstrucker15!!! Even if we stumble sometimes, we always find our way back up.

restlesstiger49 said:It’s pretty clear Zoloft isn't doing anything for me, so I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has other recommendations. I'm looking for something for someone who's really struggling to find a reason to keep going, but I'd prefer to avoid Paxil, Effexor, or Wellbutrin.

You mentioned somewhere else that you were taking it for anxiety.
I was on Paxil back in the day—it's a specific SSRI that also works as an anti-anxiety med. During that first week, I was basically a zombie, sleeping through everything, but once my body adjusted, it was fine. I am just confused about one thing, though—do you think you could just walk into a doctor's office with a wad of cash and tell them exactly which prescription you want?😕

Zachary Stewart2 said:So, when does the fallout usually actually hit?

I've never actually gone through this myself—so I can't say for sure—but I have seen others post about it. There were people who decided to quit their antidepressants cold turkey while dealing with major depression, and they hit a much darker phase really quickly. I can't recall exactly how long after stopping the meds it happens, so maybe do a little digging through the old threads... someone here might have been through it.🤷

Zachary Stewart2 said:They aren't doing much. Plus, I was traveling and ended up leaving my meds back home.

Look, you're ultimately responsible for your own health here—I really hope things don't take a turn for the worse.

Zachary Stewart2 said:So, I’ve been off my meds for about three days now—just a little temporary break, nothing crazy. Honestly, I didn't feel much of anything... just a tiny headache that cleared up pretty quick, and that was basically it. Is that actually normal?

I highly doubt it’ll be that easy—and I'm honestly not sure why you'd even try that. Are the meds not working for you?
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Zachary Stewart2 said:I was wondering—is there any way to taper off meds without waiting for my psychiatrist's input? I’ve got about a month until my next check-up, but honestly, I just don't have the time to sit around and wait.

So, what exactly are you taking—and what's the dosage?
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
restlesstiger49 said:It’s definitely possible. My therapist actually had to cancel our session recently, so maybe they’ll suggest bumping up the dosage when we finally meet. Who knows, whatever...

As for the medication itself, I was on it a few years back. Those first two weeks were brutal—the nausea really messed with me—but once that passed, it actually started working. I was taking it for anxiety. It definitely made me hungrier, though. Eventually, I just quit cold turkey on my own accord, which was a mistake. I ended up dealing with a week of depersonalization and derealization. Seriously, take it slow when you're tapering off.

And just so you know, when you're increasing or tapering, you should do it by a quarter tablet every 3 or 4 days.

restlesstiger49 said:I’m actually taking it for anxiety rather than full-blown depression, though there's definitely a hint of dysthymia there. Honestly, I don't feel any relief from the symptoms yet. Maybe I need a higher dose? I'm currently at 50mg, but who knows.

That's a pretty low dose—honestly, you probably should have felt some relief by now if you were up at 100mg.
