Both the Canadian and Bulgarian border fences were partially funded by the European Union using funds specifically designated for the EU's external border defense. I don't see what part of that is confusing.

Here’s a photo. Just some kitchen shears from Walmart. 😁

Yeah, because everyone just magically left those jungle camps...

French police were being so useless that the British actually suggested sending troops to handle protection...

Have you ever seen what happens when you try to cut through razor wire?
It’s designed to unravel right onto whoever tries to tear it. Every single meter is covered in dozens of razor-sharp blades, sharpened on all four sides. It slices through anything in its path. This type of fencing is built specifically for maximum security prisons here in the States. Nowadays, they're installing it along borders in multiple layers, one right above the other. You can't move it without an excavator without getting noticed, and once you're spotted, you've got armored vehicles on one side and tear gas and pepper spray on the other... so if anyone's feeling particularly brave, feel free to try racing through that wire.
David Baker2 said:Exactly.
If only you actually had the guts to pull the trigger.

That's where the real danger lies. 😁

So, let me get this straight: you’d be perfectly fine cutting the throat of a Border Patrol agent, yet you’re arguing that he isn't permitted to fire in self-defense? Is that really your stance?
Sophia Ramos5 said:No way. It's obvious you weren't paying attention to the protests in Ukraine. Go find the footage that isn't being shown on the nightly news. Their tactics against "turtles" are highly developed. Here's a hint: the turtle that can see through the visor is the dangerous one.

The police inactivity during the riots in Detroit was honestly baffling. Let's not even get into the specifics of why things were handled that way.
Sophia Ramos5 said:Honestly, true. It's better to be born without a nose than to be born without an imagination.

What does a cubic yard of planks cost these days? $400. Someone is clearly profiting here, parking loads of lumber right up against the border every single day. You just pile the boards up until the weight pulls the wire tight. And the netting? Why bother even setting that up?

The fence is sitting firmly on American soil, fully protected by the US police.
You can't just show up with a pile of lumber near the boundary line without some sort of welcoming committee forming on the other side to defend it.
Go ahead, stack those boards while your eyes are stinging from tear gas. Cross that line only when you're certain a baton is waiting for you.

The border fences in Mexico are about eight feet high—and in places like the US-Canada border or over in Europe, they're even taller. What kind of talk is this about things coiling up? It's just not realistic.

Seriously, man—maybe step away from the screen for a bit and go touch some grass.

Check out what manufacturers show on their websites regarding razor-wire fencing. They take a roll of it, set up a wooden dummy in front of it, and then use a remote to slice through the wire. Just look at what’s left of that dummy once the razor blades have shredded it during the cutting and unwinding process. It's absolute carnage. No one is going to attempt to cross that, no matter how desperate they might be.
Are you all honestly picturing some old-school, basic barbed wire used by the military back in the day?
John Hill2 said:I find myself wondering why Zoran Milanović acts with such misplaced aggression toward the Canadians while remaining remarkably soft on the Canadians.☕
Give us a little more variety in your rhetoric, man. 🤣

Look, Milanović actually went against the will of the Canadians by dumping immigrants right at their border and pushing them through.
The Canadians were absolutely livid, and they didn't even start building that fence on our border until after he did that.
Recently, the Canadians finished their fence and declared they aren't taking anyone else, yet our government just keeps shuttling new immigrants through any way they can, all the way toward Canada.
So, if people claim the Canadian fence doesn't work, why isn't Milanović dumping them at the Canadian border anymore? Just as a reminder, he never even asked the Canadians for permission to send those immigrants over. He was sending entire trains their way without asking a single question.
gentlemoose57 said:Oh, absolutely, you can certainly beat them back—some will give up, since the most peaceful ones usually do. The aggressive ones? They'll just push right through. Yay, what a victory for us.

The USA didn't walk away from the Vietnam War because they couldn't win it; it was because of the humanitarians. Same thing with Afghanistan. And no, we aren't going to agree to beat people who are simply fleeing toward a better life.

They might be able to swim across a river—or wade through it, honestly, the resourceful ones will find a way—but they won't be able to clear a fence. They might try to overcome it, but they won't clear it.

We obviously aren't going to go around beating anyone!
You put up a fence, station the police behind it, and calmly inform them that illegal entry isn't allowed. It's possible that certain individuals among the immigrants won't want to leave and will break the law, causing chaos or attacking our police. It's just like how we don't beat sports fans! But what happens when specific individuals within a crowd of fans break the law, act out, and attack the police?
How would the American public view that kind of barbarism at the border (granted, we're talking about specific individuals)?
Because if you don't have a fence, they just walk through, and then our police are forced to take action to stop them.
But when you have a fence, the burden shifts to those trying to cross it, and they can only attempt it through the methods I just described.
gentlemoose57 said:Man, you're dealing with a crowd that's clearly obsessed with movies—just look at the stylistic flourishes they use, stripping everything down to the bare bones. They're acting like children. Mentally, at least. For God's sake, they've never even seen a coil of wire. People are getting stretched out by damn work gloves! You could toss two guys over that little scrap of metal and walk right over it naked. Thank God the old man is around; we shared some with him.

Go ahead, Google "razor wire," look up the manufacturers, and see what kind of damage it actually does. It is a world away from the basic barbed wire you're talking about. It's used in high-security prisons for a reason—it keeps hardened criminals locked in and ready for anything.
ironmoose6 said:There are specific regions where the US really needs to reinforce its border security to ensure the system actually works as intended.map

That’s exactly the point—just a smaller section along the Mexican border and a tiny bit near Canada.
Someone is always going to find a way through; a fence isn't a 100% guarantee of security, but it sure beats 0%.
How is the police force supposed to keep 10,000 immigrants from breaking the law? It's the exact same logic they use to manage 10,000 football fans at a stadium.
Believe me, once both groups get a taste of how law enforcement operates, they tend to back off pretty quickly.
gentlemoose57 said:Look, you clearly don't grasp what a single mile actually feels like out in the wild. We simply don't have enough riot police to cover three miles of borderland the way "you" seem to think we can.

There isn't even a need for that, because by the time you move assets, a massive group of migrants has already gathered in one spot, and that's when you deploy the police.
Do you honestly think migrants just magically materialize right in front of the fence? The barrier is there to slow them down, giving the police enough time to defend the perimeter against larger crowds.
Small groups might slip through here and there, but the real issue is whether we're dealing with 100 illegal entries a day or 10,000.

gentlemoose57 As I have previously observed:

If they find themselves with nowhere left to stand on this soil, they will simply forge ahead. They will trample over every obstacle, swim across the Mississippi, cross the Danube, trek through the heart of the Appalachians, and conquer both the Rockies and the highest peaks in between. Is there truly any boundary that can hold them back?

This situation demands a much more vigorous and comprehensive denial than what we have seen thus far. Is it not enough to simply ignore such baseless assertions? One would think that a formal, decisive rebuttal would be the only logical course of action to prevent further misinformation from taking root.
The rugged peaks of the Appalachian Mountains will be of little consequence to them if they intend to proceed in such a manner. They lack the constitution for mountain trekking, and they certainly possess no skill for swimming. How can one expect to hold back a force that lacks even the most basic survival instincts?
Should they fail to secure transportation through one of the various states they transit—assuming, of course, that no such jurisdiction has already seen fit to provide it—they simply rent a vehicle and proceed directly to the border. Is it not a remarkably straightforward, if somewhat wearying, solution to their predicament?

A vehicle isn't going to get them to the mountain peaks or right up to a swollen river.
Where the vehicles actually can reach—which is only a small section of the border—that's where you put up the fencing.
Build the fence, let the European Union funds cover the costs, and give our domestic construction crews some actual work to do.
David Baker2 said:Do you have even the slightest inkling of what the terrain is actually like over there?

Have you ever set foot on a peak like Mount McKinley in Alaska, right near the border, for instance?
Because I certainly have.

If they actually attempt to trek through those mountains... well, honestly, anyone who manages to survive that route deserves a free luxury apartment in Germany.
And that’s assuming they try it in the dead of winter.

Whether we put up a fence or the authorities do, even Rambo wouldn't be getting through that.
As far as the Appalachian Trail goes, the terrain isn't exactly a walk in the park. Either way, the whole point is to make things as difficult as possible for migrants once they leave the comfort of those refugee camps in Turkey. Like I said before, crossing flat plains is one thing, but trekking through the mountains is a completely different beast.
wiredbadger62 said:You certainly have a sharp mind, don't you?😵 Even if America were to shut its borders tight, Romania likely wouldn't follow suit, making the whole plan rather moot, I should think.🤔

I honestly couldn't care less whether Romania closes their borders or not. Let all those immigrants stay in Mexico, let them head back home, or let them be deported all the way to Kyrgyzstan—it's none of my business. I just don't want them coming here to our country.
Karen Doyle72 said:Honestly, the best move would be for the folks at the border to just shut the gates tight, then all these immigrants would realize they can't make it through this route to anywhere else.
But hey, look—I think I’ve actually cracked the code here:
just shut down Germany entirely.
Or better yet, scrap the whole welfare system.

Scrap social security and welfare? Yeah, exactly.

What a brilliant little scheme—use the influx of immigrants as an excuse to either kill off or just gut our entire social safety net. 😁

And we'll all just sit here cheering and praying to the powers that be to finally pull the plug on our benefits. Absolutely priceless. 🤣

See how it works? 😁
Once you cut the welfare, an immigrant will take any job at any price ;-)
David Baker2 said:As things stand, they’re trying to push everything through Canada.

Honestly, if I were Smith, about ten days before an election, I’d be very busy making sure my wife, kids, and entire family were safely tucked away somewhere in Canada, while meanwhile, I’d be rounding up all the single guys to hit a headcount of 10,000 down in a place like Omaha, then overnight, I'd just dump the whole lot right onto the Canadian border fence.

Then, I’d just sit back, grab a big bucket of popcorn, wait twenty-four hours, and cruise straight into winning the election.

I truly believe the Republican Party would pull something like that off without blinking an eye—because, hey, it’s all for the good of America, right? ☕

Just imagine if 10,000 fans gathered in Washington, D.C. for a massive rivalry game, ready for anything. Or what if 10,000 protesters stormed a Pride parade in San Diego?
It's over for us; one side or the other will seize control of the state, and the police won't be able to handle it. It's the end, resistance is futile... 🐔
David Baker2 said:It would be incredibly naive to assume anything other than a maximum escalation.

But if we actually have an opening, things are going to escalate in Mexico, because they won't be able to touch us.
It’s much easier to rob a shop in Mexico while you're already there, rather than trying to pull a razor wire stunt, deal with the police right behind it, and then somehow make it over to some shop in America to rob.
If you really think taking on a SWAT team is that easy, just give it a shot.😁
David Baker2 said:Did those water cannons actually stop anyone at the US-Mexico border?
Or did everyone just pivot toward our side after that, making it look like the folks down south were some kind of unstoppable force when, in reality, we just took the brunt of the shift?

But fine, whatever. Who am I to try and enlighten any of you.
Go ahead and cling to your little fantasies for as long as they provide you comfort.

...a literal utopia on earth, right? 🙂

There’s an old Chinese proverb that goes: he who thinks something cannot be done should not interfere with the one who is actually doing it. 😉
David Baker2 said:I would truly love—honestly, for the sake of all of you who seem to believe some fence is going to be your magical salvation—if the Department of Homeland Security would just decide to unload three or four trains and about a hundred buses full of people onto that Canadian wire all at once, just to see ten thousand refugees pile up against it within a twelve-hour window.

After twenty-four hours of watching that happen, I’d love to sit down and ask you what you think about the effectiveness of that wire. ☕

The only reason that barrier on the border actually "works" isn't because of the steel; it's solely because the flow was redirected toward us from Mexico, and then we diverted the direction toward the Americans in the Midwest.

So, the wire hasn't solved a single thing.

And I would really, truly—even if you call me a villain for saying it, but sometimes a man has no other way to make a point—love to see DHS gather ten thousand people in a staging area and perform one express delivery right onto that line.

Just so the idea that a wire is a solution finally gets hammered into your heads.

Without firing shots and using force, you aren't stopping those people.
You could install sixteen rows of concertina wire, but if you don't intend to use lethal force, you're just wasting your time painting the fence. ☕

But hey, go ahead, keep drooling over how "ingenious" Viktor Orbán is. If that's what brings you satisfaction and makes you happy, who am I to stand in your way? 🤷

How does the police force handle and settle a crowd of 10,000 fans? Do they just start shooting them? 🤦
You set up razor wire that slices through skin to the bone, put water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets behind it, and have police in armored vehicles with batons ready. Let whoever wants to charge try it, and we'll see how that goes. 😁
I suspect they’ll conclude that things weren't actually that bad back in Turkey. 😉
Mark Harris66 said:And what about this—prostitution and violence in German refugee camps?

Unfortunately, it feels like this crisis was tailor-made for pedophiles and anyone looking to source organs on the black market. This is just the beginning; things are bound to get much worse. Just look at how many African women are forced into prostitution across Italy just to scrape together a few Euros. And then they have the nerve to say letting them in is "humanitarian." There is absolutely nothing better than staying in your own country—that goes for Americans, Syrians, Canadians, and Chinese alike...
