Stupid excuses are probably the easiest way to ignore how incompetent our diplomats, politicians, and business leaders actually are. Nice job gaslighting us. 🙄
silentcrane11 said:Gays might be parading now, but it won't be long before those Sharia types shut them down hard.

If anyone keeps making noise, I guess those Sharia groups will start killing once they gain enough power.

America managed to shake off feudalism, Nazism, fascism, and communism, so maybe we'll deal with Islamofascism too. ☕

The topics won't even exist because people probably won't be publicly declaring homosexual (or "lesbo-peder" as darktiger12 puts it) inclinations or demanding those "rights." In two generations, we'll likely be seeing a referendum in Europe to introduce Sharia law.

Those Sharia wet dreams fight gay parades pretty effectively, I guess. 🙂

It’s a bit like that old joke where a guy tries to teach his horse not to eat. He almost pulls it off, but then the horse drops dead!
😂

Exactly—this whole debate over same-sex marriage is probably gonna be, as Americans say, beating a dead horse in about ten years. ☕
Lisa Green7 said:There was a Pride parade in Paris this year along with 16 other cities; in Paris alone, about 1 million people turned out, all celebrating the introduction of marriage equality.

Marriage equality was legalized via referendum in US states like Washington, Maryland, and Maine—they’re our neighbors to the north, after all—so why aren't we following their lead?

A referendum on marriage equality would likely pass by a majority in France. Meanwhile, in Ireland, there is talk of holding a marriage equality referendum (and a Pew Research Center survey from August 2012 showed that 73% of Irish people agreed that "same sex marriage should be allowed in the Constitution"). In Ireland, civil unions were already legalized back in 2011.

I guess I'm just glad that in maybe ten years, this won't even be a debate anymore. It'll just be normal—kind of like how we don't sit around debating the morality of slavery or why women shouldn't vote or own property.☕
Independence Day and Anti-Fascist Struggle Day in Close to Politics ·
hiddensurfer17 said:In my view, there are two dates that truly define our journey toward sovereignty: January 15, 1992, and August 5, 1995.

Ideally, those would be the days we actually celebrate, rather than focusing on the specific moments when certain decisions were pushed through in Congress—not to mention how people conveniently forget which representatives walked out in protest at the time.

Independence Day: Jan 15th.
Victory Day: Aug 5th.

I guess I agree. Honestly, if you ask me, one of those two dates alone should be a day off. It’s probably about time we cut down on all these legally mandated days for slacking off.

Honestly, miracles really do happen on this forum! I swear, Communists have practically started appearing out of nowhere!
I wonder, do they celebrate some kind of unholy holiday or anything like that?😁

And that bit about sexual orientation is freaking brilliant!!! I'm changing my mind—there are definitely some guys out there who could pull off some real wild stunts while working abroad. Especially in the film industry, particularly in those segments that start off in the adult film world...

If our fresh-faced "expatriates" popped a Viagra and showed Hollywood producers just how much they were reacting, those producers would be absolutely stunned!🤣😂

Morning. Looks like you slept through the last twenty years. Most of the true believers here are just ex-communists, anyway.☕
Raymond Bailey said:They’d realize just how "irrelevant" we are if we actually let the Chinese or Russians take over our ports. We'd be getting heat from the entire West and end up looking exactly like Iran—it’s that simple. To say something like that is just plain foolish.

If you want to know how important our ports are, just look at the numbers—our neighbor in Koper moves more than our Port of Rijeka, which is basically all our ports combined, and Trieste handles three times what Koper does. Plus, if you add up all the ports on the eastern side of the Mediterranean, they're almost insignificant globally. If I were a Chinese shipper sending goods to this part of the world, I probably wouldn't even bother messing around with anything outside of Rotterdam or Antwerp.☕

Honestly, when I look back at the absolute clowns we've had running this show, even a traveling circus troupe might be an upgrade. ☕

It's either these extreme feminists who seem to spend every waking second complaining and performing for the cameras, or those radical religious extremists who just want to strip away every single right we have left.

😳

Honestly, I think most people would agree this isn't even a hard choice. ☕

Robin Hernandez4 said:I honestly don't get how people don't get bored of it. They used to act all brave back in the USA, claiming capitalism would just fail on its own. But it’ll only crash when there’s nothing left to take;

Capitalism is an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.

Even translated, it won't happen because you can't just stop private ownership anywhere. Right now, individual ambition is basically the ultimate weapon.

Yeah, maybe. But not too long ago around here, they were busy seizing private property and giving owners a bullet to the head.

Major American holidays in Close to Politics ·
We should probably just scrap all those statehood holidays and whatever else, since most people don't even know what they're celebrating anyway. Instead, maybe we could just declare a massive ten-day festival from August 5th to August 15th—from Independence Day through the Assumption of Mary. Just ten days of non-stop partying.

And let’s be clear: strip away any sentimentality about leaving loved ones behind or causing grief; assume instead that this disappearance includes being wiped from their memories entirely, leaving them with no trace of your existence and no capacity for sorrow.

If the answer is yes—what is the motivation? If it is no—what holds you back?

What even is a "botun"? This whole non-existence contract thing smells a bit like marriage to me. ☕
Why did Jesus die? in Religion ·
Alex Ramos91 said:Look, others who were raised—like Lazarus—just ended up dying again eventually. He isn't 😁

The whole point of His resurrection is that it proves His sacrifice was actually complete, perfect, and acceptable to God for the sins of the world. It’s the ultimate proof that He is indeed the prophesied Messiah who was meant to suffer and then rise again, the one who will "strike at the serpent's heel and crush its head."

... By doing this, He stepped into the fray to overcome through Death the one who held power over death—the devil—thereby freeing those who spent their entire lives living in bondage because they were terrified of dying. (Hebrews 2)

Which means He can now say:
"Do not be afraid! I am the First and the Last, and the Living One! I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I hold the keys of Death and the underworld." (Revelation 1)

I guess I remember stories about Jairus' daughter and that widow's son from Nain, right alongside Lazarus. Maybe there are others out there? 🤷
As for whether he actually died or not—prove to me he’s alive, then maybe I'll believe you. 😉
Why did Jesus die? in Religion ·
Casey Jackson17 said:Look, death isn't even the point; it’s all about the resurrection... if the resurrection hadn't happened, Christianity wouldn't even be a thing. Jesus would just be some con artist that nobody even remembers, there wouldn't have been any first Christians, and instead of walking straight into death with a rock-solid faith in God, they would've just scattered in fear like they did when Jesus was caught and sentenced to that shameful death on the cross..
Jesus died so He could rise again, proving that God isn't just above every struggle, problem, or sickness, but actually stands above death itself—showing that anyone who puts their trust in Him can be resurrected too. The resurrection completely flipped the world upside down from Adam's time all the way into eternity. That one event totally wrecked everything we thought we knew about life and its purpose. It brought meaning to places where there was none before Jesus Christ—into sickness, into suffering, into grief, and into the darkest Fridays of our lives. Through the resurrection and believing in Jesus Christ, fear stops being this soul-crushing monster... that's why the apostles were ready to die and let go of their physical bodies for eternal life and fellowship with God. For a true believer, suffering stops being terrifying because you know death isn't the end of the line..
And Jesus says—whoever believes in me will live even if they die..
And the same goes for—whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day..
The whole thing hinges on the resurrection, not on death for death's sake.. but to get to the resurrection, you need faith, even if the resurrection has more proof than half the stuff in history textbooks that people just take for granted... honestly, most of what we think we know, we either believe or don't, but we actually know very little...

Looking strictly at the New Testament, there are resurrections everywhere. Why would Jesus' be any different?

I mean, I think you’ve got the whole map wrong regarding where this hypothetical war would actually go down. If things kick off, Niš is toast within the first month, and if NATO doesn't step in fast enough, Kragujevac is gonna be in deep trouble too. ☕

🤣
Maybe we could take a little stroll over to Zemun while we're at it? ☕
Hypothetically speaking (assuming a war like this even happens), why wouldn't we just band together and totally tear apart the biggest usurper in this part of Europe? 🤷

Of course they should. I’m talking about Zemun and Banja Luka. 👍
