Aaron Wood2 said:How long do I actually have to pick up my package before they send it back? I'm staring at this tracking info and wondering if I have a few days to get my act together or if I need to drop everything right now—honestly, these shipping companies can be so unpredictable sometimes.

Five days. That’s all it takes, isn't it? Just five little days for everything to spiral—or maybe just enough time to realize how much has actually changed since last week. It’s funny how time works like that—one minute you’re coasting along, thinking you have all the breathing room in the world, and then suddenly, you’re staring at the calendar realizing the window is slamming shut. I was sitting there this morning, sipping my coffee—the good stuff, none of that instant swill—just thinking about how quickly things move once they start moving. It’s relentless. Truly.

I don't even know where to begin with this—it’s just one of those things that gets under my skin if I think about it for more than five seconds—but honestly, there are some days when you just have to vent. It feels like everything is moving at such a frantic pace lately, doesn't it? Like we're all just sprinting toward a finish line that keeps getting moved further away by some unseen force. I was sitting in my kitchen this morning, staring at a cold cup of coffee—which, mind you, was already lukewarm because I got distracted reading an article about the local school board's latest nonsense—and it hit me how much unnecessary friction we deal with daily. It's exhausting. It really is. You try to do the right thing, you try to follow the rules, and yet it feels like the system is designed to trip you up at every turn. Anyway, I'm rambling. I know. But sometimes you just need to get it out of your system before you boil over. kaže:
I’ve been sitting here staring at my screen for twenty minutes just wondering how one actually goes about selling shoes through the mail without getting absolutely fleeced—because, let's be honest, sending a pair of kicks out to some total stranger via USPS feels like a massive gamble. I mean, you package everything up, you drop it off at the post office, and then what? You're just left praying that the buyer doesn't pull some shady move once they have the goods in their hands. It's a legitimate concern, really—that fear of being scammed by someone you've never met is enough to make anyone hesitate. You want to make the sale, sure, but you don't want to end up empty-handed while some random person is walking around in your inventory. There has to be a way to protect yourself, right? Some sort of buffer between the transaction and the shipping so you aren't just tossing money into a black hole.

Just send it via COD—cash on delivery. That way, the buyer actually has skin in the game because they have to cough up the cash before they can even touch the package. It’s the only way to protect yourself, really. I mean, look, there is always that one person who’s going to screw you over—you know the type—who just refuses to pick up the box when it arrives at their door. And then? You’re left holding the bag. The whole thing gets shipped right back to your doorstep, and you end up paying for the shipping twice. It’s infuriating, honestly. I dealt with something similar last year when I tried to sell some old gear through an online marketplace—ended up losing money on the return postage just because some guy decided he didn't want it anymore. Just stick to COD; it's the only way to ensure they're serious.

I don't really deal with those kinds of issues—not that we even have JGP over here in the States 😂

Alex Hill86 said:it’s honestly useless, man.

If you just send it off as a certified letter with the buyout amount due by $6.75, then that's all you get. That's the end of the line for you.

So, the shipment just conveniently vanishes into thin air—along with your cards and your cash sitting in the cookie jar... 🙏
Selling via mail order in Miscellaneous ·
Look, if you're shipping cards with a high buy-back value, you really should be using a service like UPS with insurance included... it's basically like sending a package with a declared value.
Sure, the shipping costs a bit more upfront—it’s definitely not the cheapest way to get things moving—but honestly, when you're dealing with anything worth a decent chunk of change, you don't want to take the risk. I remember once trying to save a few bucks by using a standard mail service for some vintage collectibles, and let me tell you, watching that tracking number go dead for two weeks was enough to give anyone a heart attack. Using a premium carrier makes it almost impossible for them to just vanish into thin air.
Linda Chavez14 said:She should probably just send the keyboard and mouse via USPS. I was looking into it, and it seems like using HP ex would be the best bet. I haven't actually used that service before, so I'm wondering if the packaging process is the same as a standard parcel, or if there are specific rules to follow? How much extra effort does it take to "protect" the items, and do I need to explicitly label it as fragile, or does the service itself imply extra care compared to regular shipping? Also, does the price include insurance for the shipment and the fragile handling, or is that an additional fee?
Thanks in advance for any help 🙂

You pack it just like anything else—you have to specifically flag it as fragile yourself, otherwise they won't slap that sticker on it immediately (which, by the way, adds a few cents to the cost)... The shipping rate for HP ex is a bit higher, thank goodness, but it’s honestly the most secure way to go because they deliver right to the recipient's doorstep, and you can even schedule it—same day or next day by a certain time (next-day delivery by 8 PM ends up being the most economical option, costing around twenty-something bucks)... When you get to the counter at the post office, just tell them you want to use HP ex, and they'll hand you that orange form to fill out; you can choose whether you're paying the shipping or if the recipient covers it, and whether it's COD or not... If you have more specific questions, just ask... I know I've rambled on quite a bit here, just giving you the general rundown... 😉
Olivia Green46 said:Maybe try FedEx?

That’s exactly what my aunt suggested to me on her post too... so, yeah, I sent it. 🙂

Hey there. Just checking in.

I really ought to be sending out a little package of value—something substantial, you know? Just one of those things that stays on your mind while you're staring at the ceiling at 2 AM, wondering if you've actually contributed anything meaningful lately. It’s funny how we spend all this time talking about big ideas, but the actual substance... well, that's a different story entirely. $40 So, I’m looking at this shipment going from Washington, D.C. all the way down to San Diego—quite the trek, really—and the whole thing is supposed to be a cash-on-delivery deal. Just a straightforward COD arrangement.
I’m looking for some advice here because, frankly, I don’t know the first thing about shipping stuff—I’m a complete novice when it comes to this whole process. I need to send out a few things, including a high-value letter with COD (cash on delivery), a priority letter with COD, and a few other variations. Since this is my first time navigating the logistics of it all, I’d really appreciate any guidance on the best way to handle this without making a mess of things.
Could someone please—and I say this with the utmost respect for everyone's time—direct me back to the very first post in this thread? I’ve gone through it once already, but honestly, I feel like I missed the forest for the trees. I didn't quite grasp the full step-by-step process, and I'd rather get it right the first time than go stumbling around blindly. Thanks.

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d be sending every single COD shipment through FedEx without a second thought. It’s just more reliable—it gets there the next day, and you can actually pick your delivery window. If you aim for a slot before 8 PM, the shipping rates are actually pretty reasonable. The process is straightforward enough, too. You just head down to the local FedEx office, walk up to the counter, and tell them you want to send this out as a cash-on-delivery shipment via FedEx. The clerk will hand you a form to fill out, and that's really all there is to it. I don't know the exact technical jargon they use, so you might have to let them walk you through the specific lines on the paperwork—but once that's done, you're good to go. 😉 Look, if you just pay the shipping costs upfront, then fine—it’s handled. But if you don't? Well, they just slap a label on the package stating that the recipient is responsible for the postage... which means he ends up footing the bill. $40 And then there's the shipping costs... honestly, it’s getting ridiculous. Every time I try to order something online lately, the price of getting it from point A to point B seems to jump up just because they can. It’s like a hidden tax on everything we buy. You think you've found a decent deal, you get to the checkout, and suddenly—bam—you're staring at an extra twenty bucks just to have it sit in a FedEx truck for three days. It really throws a wrench in the whole budget, doesn't it?
What’s actually the best way to mail important documents? I really can't afford for anything to go missing—it's just not an option for me right now... I'm more than willing to shell out for the premium shipping rates if it means having that 100% certainty that my papers will actually hit their destination safely...
It’s just not how it works... first you have to actually pay for it and pick it up—only then can you decide what to do with it, whether you want to open it up, toss it in the trash (kidding, mostly) or whatever else comes to mind... 😉
Crispy Pops in Miscellaneous ·
I tried it once and honestly? Never again... I nearly cracked a tooth because that thing was unbelievably hard. It was supposed to be crispy, but it was more like biting into a brick. :/
Linda Chavez14 said:By the way, it looks like one of my packages went missing. It was shipped on May 15th, and the tracking just vanishes after being processed in Indianapolis—even though, according to the website's own delivery window, it should have arrived by now. What I’m wondering is, am I jumping the gun if I go file a claim today? And how long does the whole investigation actually take before the carrier finally decides to reimburse the value listed on the box?
Thanks in advance.

I'd say hold off until at least Monday (personally, I usually wait a full seven days before I even think about filing a claim)...
Basically, they make you file an inquiry first, and if they can't find it—in my experience, they call me by the second day—then you fill out those reimbursement forms. You sign them, then they send everything over to the recipient's local post office, the person who didn't get the package signs off, then it all gets routed back to your home branch, and eventually, the money shows up at your door... if memory serves, the whole ordeal takes at least a week.
At my local USPS branch, those little slips for package info are kept tucked away behind the counter by the clerk... one time I walk in, looking for one (I’d left a package back there—we have these little standing desks where you fill out the forms and pack things into envelopes...) and the lady at the counter is basically rolling her eyes at me like, "Uh, where's your package??" :-/
And honestly, if I wanted to grab some of those certified mail slips, they're just sitting right there on the counter facing the customers....luckily we have this one incredibly decent gentleman working the window (he actually recognizes me now since I'm such a regular at the post office..) so I figure he wouldn't make a scene about it...

Sarah Martin41 said:You know, I hadn't actually checked 😁 I think I'll head over there to run the numbers myself. My plan is to stuff it into one of those larger bubble mailers... you know, the padded ones... maybe send it via certified mail... But honestly, $6.75 the shipping cost seems way too steep for something so trivial :P

It’s going to be sent back after five days... just give the post office a call and ask them if your package actually showed up yet....
Sophia Harris34 said:Okay, look, I need to ship a phone using a cash-on-delivery service. If the value is set at $2,700, how much extra does the buyer actually have to pay in shipping fees—or whatever they call those surcharges—to the carrier??!?! 🤷 I just don't want the whole package getting sent right back to me... 🙄

shipping (not the COD fee) really depends on how much the thing weighs and which service you choose....
Personally, if I were handling something like this, I’d use FedEx Priority—I mean, heaven forbid the package gets lost if you just send it via standard USPS certified mail—so it arrives by tomorrow evening at the latest (it’s usually the most reliable way even if it isn't the absolute cheapest)... just head down to a local UPS Store or the post office, and they'll give you the exact breakdown... it should probably be around $25 or $30, though it might end up being more depending on the insurance you pick...

Olivia Hernandez45 said:I am completely lost in all this information—can someone please just give me some straight instructions? Between the fact that I don't usually ship things via mail and my own tendency to be a bit clumsy, I'm terrified I’ll end up making a total 😁
mess of things. Anyway, I'm trying to send two t-shirts from NYC to Miami... Should I pack them in something I have at home, or should I just grab packaging at the post office? The girl specifically asked if I could send it via mail with COD (cash on delivery). The value of the package is $33. Please, give me some guidance because I can already see myself showing up tomorrow and just generally screwing everything up at the post office 😁. All I know is that the recipient's info goes in the bottom right and the sender's info goes in the top left, and I cross out my own details...

1. Head down to the USPS and ask for the largest padded bubble mailer they have... make sure those shirts actually fit inside properly...
2. Pack it up nicely, write down both the recipient and the sender info (the lady at the counter will cross out your info for you)
3. Tell her you want to send it via certified mail with COD (cash on delivery)...
4. Since you've never done this before, ask her to help you fill out that yellow form for the COD service... she'll ask how much the collection amount should be—just say $33 plus whatever the shipping cost is, and ask her to write that total under the COD section... you'll pay the shipping fee upfront, but you'll get reimbursed once the girl picks up the shipment and the package itself....
I think that would be it... something along those lines....
Christian Rogers97 said:How much would it cost me to ship a package from, say, Austin over to Houston using FedEx? It’s a small one—nothing crazy—so it shouldn't be too expensive... Or, if I just go through standard mail, can I have it sent to a local post office instead of my house so I don't have to wait around for the delivery guy?

Just grab a shoebox, tape it up, write the value on there, and head down to the post office to send it as a parcel... Usually, the whole thing works where you get a little yellow slip left at your door and then you have to go pick it up at the station—you can't really just send it via regular snail mail and expect it to work that way.
