Who is to blame for how boring F1 has become? in Formula 1 ·
James Roberts87 said:You’ve got to be kidding me. Remember when Schumacher went off the track? There wasn't a single doubt in anyone's mind that he was taking the championship.

???
Are you serious?

If Rubens hadn't taken first place in that last race, or if Schumacher hadn't dropped down a spot—or maybe if he hadn't climbed one earlier—Kimi Raikkonen would have been the champion. It honestly feels undeserved. 🙂
Blackbird said:Correction... I can't really say anything until they're running roughly the same car... you're getting a bit tedious with this, man... even Elizabeth Hughes told you that, and she’s actually rooting for Michael, so at least she's being somewhat realistic...

Maybe... but at least it's grounded in reality, unlike that totally delusional anti-stance of yours....

but you know as well as I do that you can't really blame the drivers when the racing gets boring...

There isn’t really one right answer here.

Personally, I tend to point the finger at the FIA and the way they handle the rulebook.
If they weren't so restrictive, we'd see more overtaking and actual excitement. If things stay on this path and Ferrari maintains their reliability, the rest of the field is going to be stuck struggling to stretch a single engine across two races... plus there are all those other regulations I've mentioned in my previous posts.

Sure, you could say Ferrari is part of the reason things feel a bit stale, but I don't see it that way. They're just doing what any top-tier team does—aiming for the win. That's the whole point of being in Formula 1.
I used to think the competition was to blame because they couldn't keep up, and instead of stepping up, they just spent their time complaining about Ferrari.

And yeah, Michael Schumacher is part of why it feels predictable too. If he wasn't such a powerhouse, we'd have a lot more drama on track.

But... even if Ferrari and Michael Schumacher are making things feel "boring," they aren't actually at fault. They’re just doing their jobs.

The responsibility for keeping the races entertaining lies with Bernie and the FIA. Bernie focuses on the media side, the money, and the business, while the FIA manages the rules.

So, when you break it down, the blame falls on the FIA and Bernie. It’s their job to make sure Formula 1 stays exciting to watch.
James Roberts87 said:They won't. People who just can't stand Michael Schumacher will always try to pin the blame on him, but at the end of the day, he’s still the best driver in Formula 1. Not even someone like Juan Pablo Montoya or Fernando Alonso can change that fact.

Actually, let me rephrase that... they won't be able to touch him unless they manage to get a car that's significantly better than what he's running.
Charles Martin78 said:You think Ferrari might actually pull the plug? It’s probably for the best, honestly. Their strategy is all over the place and even when they have the fastest car, things just fall apart...

Yeah... I mean, look at how Rubens has been handled all these years. He's faster through the pits and keeps up in every single race, yet Ferrari just won't give him the edge. He's always stuck behind Michael Schumacher. I'm starting to get worried about where this is heading...
urbanmoose3 said:He’s got a point... why bother pretending to be friends when they clearly aren't?

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is.
Mr. Ex said:Yeah, they totally botched qualifying. With these engine regulations, they’ve basically gutted the smaller teams. They’ve scrapped some legendary tracks, almost tried to force manual gearboxes back in, and now they're talking about shrinking the engines from 3.0 down to 2.4...😲 😠

For God's sake.
Mr. Ex😁

Don't forget the new points system either... it turned the fight for first place into a joke...
Then there's the reduction in mechanical grip—which is exactly why we aren't seeing any overtaking...

There's an endless list of them...

Honestly, what have they actually done right? I can't think of a single thing...

Ivansa

Exactly, that's my point. I blame Michael Schumacher for making Formula 1 boring. Max Mosley & Bernie changed quite a few rules just to try and spice things up. You have to admit that.

It isn't his fault that he was the best. The only thing he could do to make people happy would be to stop winning... but then, is it even a sport anymore?
And please, let's skip the nonsense regarding Rossi...🙂

Can someone please just list one thing they've actually done to make the racing interesting?
ivansa said:Do you think Formula 1 is going to lose a lot by losing Max Mosley? Personally, I think they will.

And what about that guy who claimed Formula 1 was getting boring?
Now you're actually mourning one of the main reasons why people felt that way?

Or maybe Michael Schumacher is the one to blame here.🙂
mr. ex said:They’re dropping the engine displacement from 3.0 down to 2.4😲 😲 honestly, what a joke.😠

On another note, I feel for Ralf, but hey, my guy's situation is looking even worse...

Anyway.
mr. ex😁

At this rate, they’ll probably switch to diesel next... and start using BMX-ic tires.
wearyraven41 said:I honestly thought the worst thing that could happen during a NASCAR crash was just a little jolt...

As for those polls... once people realize there's a poll online featuring Jacques, they all flock to his page and start voting until he's sitting at the top of the leaderboard. It's predictable. 😁

Look, what are you complaining about? He’s fine. He's alive, he's walking... nothing happened.
Then you have these bullies over at Elizabeth Hughes claiming we need to slow things down... if they keep pushing this agenda, I might just stop watching NASCAR entirely once Schumacher retires.

I mean, what's the point of a race that feels like a bunch of turtles crawling along? I drive faster than that in my diesel truck on the interstate.
When I think about how much they're paying those officials... man, what a joke.

And another thing—everyone goes to vote... and then they go back and vote again... multiple times. 🙂

Ah.. 100 percent true.🙂
ivansa said:That’s a shame...

Yeah...

There's actually a poll going on over at the NASCAR fan forums asking who people think will take the most wins this season... and Villeneuve is currently sitting pretty at 70%...
It feels like wearyraven41 has had way too much free time on his hands since he finished that big exam....

Personally, I've always felt Gilles Villeneuve was the one... 🙂a true legend among legends.

Wait, are you maybe wearyraven41?

I can't even wrap my head around two people actually rooting for Villeneuve... it's almost hard to imagine.

Megan White4 said:His true talent would really shine if he were sitting in a mediocre car and still managed to pull off a win. Right now, it feels like he’s just winning because he has the best machine on the grid. Honestly, watching races is getting a bit dull when you already know who's going to take the checkered flag—especially after that whole mess where Brichello was ordered to let him through in the final stretch... 🙄
Take Schumacher out of the equation and the racing gets interesting again. It reminds me of those classic battles between Prost and Senna. Or Mansell against the field... At this point, it doesn't even matter who finishes first, because that top spot feels like it's already reserved for Schumacher.

That’s just not true... with a dominant Ferrari like that, Brichello would have been the one standing on top of the podium... honestly... he might have even lost a few...

I don't quite get why being first matters so much just to make the race exciting. I mean, if I were rooting for Kimi and McLaren (playing the angel here), I'd be happy seeing them improve, even if it's just small steps forward... or if I were pulling for BAR, I'd settle for a podium...

If I were running Ferrari... Brichello would be out of there every single time, or I'd probably just hire some rookie instead of him... the end justifies the means, right?

I hope you caught his time at Benetton and the early days at Ferrari, because back then, he was driving cars that were way worse than what everyone else had...
If you want a fair comparison—those three wins he had at Ferrari in '96 are like if someone drove a Sauber today but had the reliability of an early season McLaren... you're just ignoring all the DNFs...

Honestly, it’s starting to get on my nerves. I want to actually watch a race, not just stare at Schumacher leading the pack without any drama....

Hah... such brilliant insights...

First you claim it doesn't prove he's a top-tier driver...
Then you complain because he's too good and you basically want him to drive poorly just so you can be entertained...

See what I'm getting at here? 🙂

I see you only get creative when we're talking about Red Bull Racing and Schumacher.🙂

I actually dig the whole Schumacher being a machine or a computer thing...
It would certainly explain why he was just on another level compared to everyone else.

Damson - no offense intended... but looking at this just makes me think about how much of a baby face Villeneuve used to have 🙂
Montoya turns down McLaren! in Formula 1 ·
Anđeo said:Montoya is actually lucky he didn't join the team this season while McLaren is struggling. It’ll be much better for him to step in next year once they've found their rhythm again.😁 On another note, that move he made on Michael in the tunnel was pretty sharp—those Colombians really have a certain intensity about them, almost like they live by that old-school "eye for an eye" mentality.👎

Just hope the Germans don't try to settle the score like they did back in the 1940s.🙂
