Looking for the easiest way to overclock? Just grab ClockGen right here. It saves you from the endless cycle of rebooting every single time you're hunting for that sweet spot where your processor actually stays stable. 😉

So, let me get this straight—when it comes to your precious little forks, are we talking spicy or sweet?

What I was actually getting at was the difference between, say, an Internet Explorer 5 browser and Netscape Navigator 1.0—those are two completely different beasts.

Listen, a Mozilla browser isn't the same thing as Firefox; we're talking about two different things here.

So, I just picked up a new case with a side fan blowing directly onto my Cooler Master cooler. Between the six fans in the chassis, the two in my Corsair 353W, and the one on the GPU, I'm running ten fans total right now. 😁 Even when I throw Prime95 at it, my temps won't even break 42 degrees Celsius, and when I'm just idling, I'm sitting pretty at 31 degrees.

Here’s the hardware I'm working with:
Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Stepping D1
Gigabyte P4S800D SiS 655FX motherboard
2x256MB Micron DDR PC3200 400MHz
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900

I set the DRAM Frequency to 400MHz and tried cranking the CPU Frequency up to 240 MHz—which should hit 3.36 GHz—but no luck. To make matters worse, Prime95 fails immediately. And get this: it fails instantly even when the CPU Frequency is down at 210 MHz! The only way it actually passes the Prime95 test is if I drop it down to 205 MHz.

Is this really the ceiling here? Is the fact that it can't pass Prime95 a sign of something bigger, or am I just missing some crucial setting somewhere else?

It’s more than possible. It's absolutely a thing.😉

Maybe you should actually take what this doctor told you seriously for once.

Why don't you tell us how you're really doing? Do you feel like someone is following you? Do you think people are bugging your phone? Do you honestly believe you have supernatural powers or something? Just lay it all out right here. 😉

Good luck to you. 🙂

So, can anyone point me toward a decent mid-tower case? I’m looking for something without a power supply included since I already have an Enermax unit, but let's keep it budget-friendly, shall we?

Also, how much headroom am I actually looking at for overclocking this P4 2.8 GHz C? I'm running an Asus P4S800D with a SiS 655FX chipset and 2x256MB of 400MHz Hynix DDR. Can I push it while sticking strictly to air cooling, or am I going to be forced to swap out the stock cooler that came in the box? Is that even worth the hassle?

3.5GHz

And just so there's no confusion, I'm running liquid cooling 👍

If anyone is seeing temps climb above 131°F or higher, try using a paper towel roll against the heatsink to funnel cool air from outside instead of sucking in the hot air trapped inside the case (you'll have to leave the side panel open for the test 😉).

Look, I’ve got the exact same processor you do—the P4 2.8 GHz C—and mine isn't even overclocked. When I ran that same test, my temperatures shot straight up to 154°F! 😉

And how am I supposed to use some ridiculous paper tube to pull in cold air? My power supply takes up almost the entire space in front of the CPU fan because I'm working with a mini-tower. It's impossible!

PS: My rig spent 8 hours grinding at 154°F and actually survived. 😁

Sam Evans3, why don't you go ahead and download Prime95 (you know, the torture test)
? Then let me know what kind of temperatures you're seeing on your rig and whether or not the system actually holds up under pressure.

I know I sound completely unhinged, but honestly, I can't help it.
I had someone break into my house once, so maybe that's where this constant paranoia comes from? Who knows...

Forget the knives and the scissors—just go buy yourself a Glock 19 and slide it under your pillow.😉 😁
I was absolutely certain he’d be feeling better by now 👍

If the hospital is close enough, someone should just buy him a fishing rod and a box of worms so he can actually get some enjoyment out of this 😉
Kenneth Hernandez67, run as far away from Chase as you possibly can—I’m talking a hundred miles minimum. That is hands down the worst bank on the planet, and the second they get their hooks into you, it's game over.
Kenneth Hernandez67, hang in there—this is just one more temporary crisis that’s bound to blow over soon.
Sending my best to you and your uncle! 🙂

If this was a direct shot at me, I hate to disappoint you, but my hearing is perfectly fine and I don't even wear a hearing aid—even though I spent my entire service in the infantry.😁

The paperwork for PTSD and bribing the military pension board: $650.

Medical proof of hearing loss caused by combat detonations—basically paying $550 just to justify needing a hearing aid.

Neurological reports confirming something is "off" to satisfy the commission? That’ll run you another $220.

Faking a month-long psychiatric hospital stay just to secure a discharge paper: easy $330.

Documentation claiming mental health treatment since the early '90s related to combat trauma, even if you've never stepped foot in a clinic: $1,600.
