To underground dance scene was absolutely brilliant.. 👋 I honestly wasn't sure if they could actually pull off those studio tracks live, but I was pleasantly surprised. The drummer was top-tier, and the girl was fantastic—she handled everything from the melodic parts right up to those heavy death metal vocals perfectly. 😍 My only gripe is that I expected a bit more of a surreal vibe; they looked way too casual for music this intense.
And what’s the deal with all those piercings? 😲

Susan Edwards3 said:well, she's got the Burzum piercing, not to mention all the rest of them covering her body 😲

As for Pere... I hadn't listened to him before, and after reading Laura Long5's description, I was a bit apprehensive, but he turned out alright. I wasn't a huge fan of the sound quality either; it felt a bit too heavy on the low end. 😬The bassist was actually quite charming, which was a sharp contrast to that moody, unapproachable Ubu. Honestly, my only regret was sitting there by myself outside the venue once it was over.
So you're all little fashionistas now? My non-punk friends and I are just going to grab a drink on a park bench somewhere near downtown. I've been waiting forever for the weather to actually turn decent, and now I’m expected to squeeze into some cramped, suffocating dive bars? I don't think so. 🙂 I've had my fill of that scene at the local club.
+ I’m actually pretty stoked about the news regarding the woman in the band; it wasn't exactly what I expected from a poster like that. Honestly, I'm looking forward to the gang gang Dance show even more, though I have this nagging suspicion they might be a bit too fond of the booze. If they're already stumbling through the studio sessions, imagine how much they'll be partying during the live tour. : nail biting emoji: As long as they don't pull a Liars act on us again... 😬
See ya out there!
Emily Thomas3 said:And who’s going to be the DJ? Seriously, anyone?! 😁
Well... I might just install some kind of wiring first, just so nobody accidentally takes a shot at me...

Just please, spare us the cheesy "Happy New Year" hits. I really wasn't a fan the last time you mentioned your playlist choice...
+ I already picked up tickets #117 and #118 at the Madison Square Garden box office from those perpetually rude clerks. Clearly, they haven't been paying any attention to our feedback on this forum. 🙄
Oh right, for anyone who missed that absolute train wreck on the blog a few months back..

You need it for a cabin in the mountains, for road trips across the USA, for funding an album, for diapers, coffee, vinyl, and all those little things that actually make life worth living. 🙂

... and for rent. 😉
Personally, Arcade Fire never really clicked with me. Every single track sounds like one long, drawn-out chorus from start to finish. If they want to sell out, let them. If Kings of Convenience could do it, so can they. But that James Blunt era? That was just daily psychological warfare. 😠 😠

😁 Fantastic. Honestly, this is the best thing I've read here in ages. 👍
redcrane28 said:Ugh, obviously. Now we just have to invent an acronym for it.

It’s never going to happen, like I already said... 😁
"What even is Studio 54?" Honestly, it’s a pretty catchy name... 😬
+ I've already told them that "Hardcore Punks" works just fine for me too.

The evidence:
1. No musical identity exists in a vacuum. 😍
2. Tagging is a pastime for everyone involved.
3. SS feeds let you glide over oceans of raw data—much like a bald eagle soaring over the Rockies, though thankfully without the federal protection status...
4. This particular RSS feed was engineered for machine consumption. You, however, are biological.
5. Even this requires a working grasp of Protocol1, which is a tall order. Honestly, anyone who manages to fuse these two documents together earns my absolute respect.

The absolute bottom-of-the-barrel musical disaster I’m planning to subject myself to today:

LL COOL J (or rather, L-L Cool-J) - Todd Smith

Heh, I caught him on Conan O'Brien the other day and had no idea his name was such an acronym: Ladies Love Cool James... 😵 He comes across as incredibly goofy and dim. Good luck with the listening session...

A strawberry and vanilla donut 😍

Oh man, is that from that new bakery opening up on the corner? I see their posters everywhere on my commute home. That strawberry one sounds great, and those apple cinnamon ones too, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet... Have you tried the others?

Honestly, he hasn't really changed all that much... or maybe you're just looking at him from the wrong angle. 🙂 Plus, he trimmed down the beard a bit.
I’m actually more bummed out that I couldn't make it, especially seeing how much fun you guys had. 🙂

Dammit, today is the day... and I’m stuck out here in Seattle instead of being back home in DC. I can't believe I let it slip my mind. 😢
I’m really hoping someone posts some decent shots of Robert Schlank later. Just please, no one play "Fare Thee Well" or "Suffering Song." 😢

Oh sure, David has been my hero since I was a kid... 👍
But the closest I ever got to his level of "nature documentary" immersion was sitting in a tree in my backyard with my hair looking like a bird's nest after a hurricane. 🙂 And naturally, my thumbs and index fingers were always covered in dirt.

We didn't have those fancy water balloons back then; we just used garden hoses to soak each other. There was always one kid everyone hated because he had a high-end Super Soaker—it gave him the longest range and the most terrifyingly accurate aim.😠

Kevin Chavez3 said:Look, man, the Misfits are easily one of the greatest punk bands ever, right up there with the Ramones, the Beatles, and even Steve McQueen. Watch your mouth. The real issue with the Misfits is they play without a frontman who actually possessed a voice, talent, songwriting ability, or charisma—just a bunch of three or four nobodies who don't stand for anything. If they were the real deal, we'd all be bowing down to them. :2up:

🙂

Google, Google... (I can only picture the cover)... It's the Famous Monsters album. I know they used to print lyrics in the liner notes, and one particular verse stuck in my head (copy/paste): If I cut off your arms and cut off your legs
Would you still love me anyway?
There's a spot on the floor where your limbs used to be
And I close the door on my fantasies
Why don't you love me anyway? 🙄
To me, that whole vibe is totally uninteresting, if not completely pointless. Say whatever you want, but honestly, (gentlepuma20 alert 😬 ) , I have never been able to wrap my head around those whole vampire-satanic-virgin-sacrifice-bloodthirsty tropes or the people and bands that obsess over them.

on topic: I got an album from the Misfits (like, thinking it was amazing) back when I was just a kid. It was given to me by some "cool" older guy, and we haven't really hung out much since then..

Narantxa said:I wouldn't call myself a tea drinker, per se. I mostly just stick to mint—and if you want to argue whether that even counts as "tea," image 😬 go ahead.

Fair enough. I wasn't paying close enough attention when this topic came up earlier to ask for clarification, but let me see if I have this straight: so, in your book, neither rosehip nor chamomile qualifies as actual tea? You’re strictly sticking to the stuff made from leaves, like green or black tea? I suppose I agree that those fruit blends loaded with artificial additives don't really count either, but chamomile comes from flowers and rosehip comes from berries—they bring their own flavor to the party without needing much help. But then again, mint is just leaves, isn't it?

🙂 With these types, there’s always that looming threat of reverting back to tea and trying to dig through the mess with your fingers or a spoon, just praying you don't completely fall apart...

@ Susan Clark10 - I’m not exactly thrilled about it either, but the alternative is "dive in headfirst," which frankly sounds even worse to me..

Laura Gonzalez44 said:I know you can make that happen with a key, but just like that? Out of thin air? You’re telling me they’re just sitting there on the table, minding their own business, and then suddenly they just... self-destruct? It sounds like something out of a low-budget sci-fi flick. 🤔
It’s the younger sister, without a shadow of a doubt. 😈

Ah, those younger sisters... they really are something else. 😬
I tried to pop that metal component off just once, and let me tell you, it required some serious brute force to get it loose. I get the logic—you want to prevent dust buildup or accidental scratches on the disc—but this feels like overkill. It’s a bit much.
One of my more irrational, somewhat absurd little whims is this urge to performatively snap a CD in half—just a dramatic, theatrical destruction of the disc. I can’t quite put my finger on why it hasn't crossed my mind to actually do it yet. I have a stack of old discs sitting around at home that are practically begging for a demolition derby, but every time I get close, I find myself hesitating. I just can't bring myself to destroy them. It's a strange sort of lingering sentimentality for something so obsolete. I realize I could just go out and pick up a pack of blank CDs, but that’s really not what I’m looking for. It lacks the substance I need. 🙂

Since I spent far too much time under the delusion that coffee was the only acceptable beverage for dunking, I’ve spent the last few days conducting some exhaustive research. Here is my official report:

The top 5 items for tea dunking:

1. Hostess snacks (especially with hot tea; you just have to time it right so the chocolate melts perfectly and the cookie softens just enough... 😍 ))
2. Biscoff cookies (the gold standard for ergonomics—you dip it halfway, bite off the first part, and then the second half is the perfect size for a single mouthful)
3. Those bright yellow, high-margarine cookies sold as "Grandma's Tea Cookies," even though we all know no actual grandmother has ever laid a finger on those recipes or touched a single one during production...
4. Chocolate-covered wafer cookies (the chocolate coating melts beautifully, though the wafers themselves tend to get a bit too mushy if you linger too long)
5. Gingerbread (the older they are, the better they get 🙂 ))

Deeply inspired by Joe DiMaggio from Seinfeld... 😁
