My computer was flagging Trojans just yesterday...

you're definitely not alone on this one.
I really need to start keeping my Betadine in the fridge...

A couple of them actually melted on me the other day...

Amanda Garcia25 said:Honestly, I’m terrified too. I’m scared of what’s going to happen when we finally see what’s heading our way. This is the future we're stuck with, whether we like it or not. Dealing with panic disorder makes things even worse—the heat and the lack of air usually trigger my attacks. Plus, I’m on Paxil, which makes me sweat even if it were freezing outside, and I don't even want to get into what I'm dealing with right now. Throw in some low blood pressure and, uh, digestive issues, and the whole situation just feels unbearable. Everyone handles stuff differently, sure, but this kind of heat hitting a massive crowd of people is a total psychological nightmare. And once your nerves are shot, your body just gives up too.
I can't tell if today was harder because of the heat or because of the suicidal, high-strung people trapped in an unventilated train where you can't even crack a window open...

The Amtrak train from NYC to Philly, why was it just sitting there in New Jersey?

Honestly, this weather is driving me insane. At the office, the AC is cranked down to a freezing 75... but now that I'm back home, it's sitting at a stifling 80.
The absolute worst part is that constant temperature shock when you step outside. I spent the day running errands—hit up the IRS, the local utility office, the post office, you name it—and you know how brutal it is constantly bouncing between ice-cold AC and the outdoor heat.
Once I'm done with work, though, I basically hibernate indoors until evening. I won't even think about stepping out until it's time to go for a bike ride, because trying to do anything during the day is just a lost cause.

Just tell your parents that if you actually manage to pull this off one day, you'll be thanking them for it..

But seriously... I'm not making any promises here...
Or acting like I'm playing God, thinking I have the power to fix everything for you..

You could test the waters first to see how they react—if they play ball, great. If not, then you just go ahead and tell them, no matter how shady it feels. I know it sounds stupid, but if we're talking about someone just smoking weed or whatever, fine, we can let it slide. But once things get more serious than that, I feel like taking drastic measures is totally justified...

That is hands down the worst advice anyone could possibly give...

Nice job, really top-tier stuff right there...

That way, we won't be unfairly blaming everything on drugs.👍

Honestly, I don't think that's the case either, but let's be real—if you're chasing a high, you aren't exactly focused on your career goals.

Look, I’ve met plenty of people who struggled with addiction, got clean, and are living totally normal lives now. Some are still hitting up a rehabilitation center periodically... and I actually hang out with some of them...
And I'll tell you, they are genuinely great people—smart, hardworking, and solid...
It’s just a shame you couldn't say that about them before they got their act together. That's just how it is.

And then you plan on using the profits to pay off the debt while spending all your cash on junk and shooting up ten times a day? Nice.

Dude, you're so blinded by these outdated stereotypes that you can't see reality.

Maybe go hit up a local dive bar instead.

Go ahead, buddy... just keep dreaming.

Don't stop at ten times a day—since you're such a big-shot "entrepreneur," I guess you can afford to go all out...

p.s. You really think things are just going to be sunshine and rainbows the second you open your doors?
I just hope we don't run into each other in a few months when you're drowning in debt and looking for advice on how to fix it.

Harold Flores4 said:Oh, man, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried! I had a brother who was an addict... Are you even listening? He was!
We went through hell watching him spiral right in front of us... we were constantly having to deal with his "dealers"... dealing with the police...
Just picture this: ten SWAT officers in full gear kicking down the door, screaming at everyone to get on the ground face-first, including a six-year-old kid. Just imagine that level of terror... the sheer shock of it all....
Okay, so we somehow managed to pull through, but it definitely left its mark.
Then one day he ends up in the ER... diagnosis comes back as a tumor. Emergency surgery. And go ahead and guess where? His liver, obviously. The disease spreads fast, metastases everywhere... and before long, my brother is gone.
I spent two years on disability leave. It triggered a depression that had actual physical symptoms. I couldn't function normally, and I had two kids at home to look after. Can you imagine what they were going through back then? Thank God I'm doing much better mentally now than I ever have.
But... even today, there isn't a day that goes by where my seven-year-old girl doesn't cry for him. I see my little guy suffering through it too. And the grandparents?
So, now you tell me, was he only destroying himself? Did he only have responsibility toward himself?
I can see you think you're pretty smart, but I honestly don't get your perspective on any of this. I know and believe that addiction is a nightmare and getting clean is incredibly hard, and that addicts will come up with a thousand excuses, which is why I read your posts the way I do, but I’m afraid you're giving the original poster a totally warped view of reality—even though she knows it herself, she just found one person who thinks like her and it makes her feel less alone. If someone refuses to get clean, they need to realize their child won't have a future with them.
Sweetie, I am sending you so much strength, willpower, and love, along with a huge amount of support.

Honestly, there's no point in offering support (even though everyone would)... unless she shows some actual willingness to change.
You shouldn't be nice to them (otherwise they think everything is fine and that nobody minds what they're doing)...
And whoever wants to get mad at me, go ahead. When an addict actually shows the drive to get clean and starts working on themselves, then I'll offer my support... otherwise, no chance. I'm not going to coddle them and beg them to do something, only for them to grab a needle the second I turn my back...
No way. Help yourself first, then I'll give you my help and support.
They aren't "outcasts" because society kicked them out... they pushed themselves away from society with their own actions. They can earn their way back into normal society when they decide to act right.

Only junkies care about themselves and how they're gonna get their next fix....

And that's the whole damn secret...

slywolf45 said:I have my doubts about Sakoman... I know a girl who tried mixing Heptanon with God knows what else, and it didn't do a thing for her... much like how it fails 99% of other addicts.
I watch them walk out of Dr. Sakoman's office after he recommends they take 15 Heptanon tablets a day... then, after two or three years of steady usage, they go back for a check-up and the good doctor bumps them up to 20 tabs... and so on. I mean, hello?? How long does this cycle go on? And of course, it’s an open secret that besides consuming Heptanon in every possible way—crushing it, injecting it, you name it—they’re also selling it on the side, usually getting into scraps with local dealers in the process. No one here can tell me otherwise because I see it playing out every single day (it's my profession). They show up at the clinic, making a massive scene, trying to convince us they haven't received their daily dose yet... and it just goes on and on.

Then George Ramirez11 suggests that rehab isn't for everyone... Well, sure, it isn't for people who lack a serious intention to get clean and just want something extra to wreck their bodies with. Can someone please explain to me how taking 20 or 25 Heptanon tablets a day for years on end is considered "healthy"?

You’re never going to be able to explain that to an addict who has no desire to quit...

quiethound45 said:They can ruin themselves, sure, but then they shouldn't have kids.
Because if they do, they drag them into all of this, and those kids don't have a choice.

Random thought: I actually just got back from a trip to the coast... they found this local guy there. He was on leave from the military for seven years already. They found him after two days, just lying there in his house. He was bloated and practically green from the heat, and apparently, a stray cat bit his finger and scratched his face.
Only four buddies from his unit showed up to the funeral (they were also on leave).
His elderly parents basically disowned him, though word is they're still paying for the service. They had been in the house to do an inventory check in case things went south, especially since he had some debts...
Aside from an old radio, a beat-up table, some plastic chairs, and a mattress, they couldn't find anything else. I really wonder where it all went.🤔
Is that really what life is?
He was only 32...

Some people realize how bad things are when they hit rock bottom, while others—like the author here—just keep hunting for excuses and justifications...
She doesn't need to justify anything to us; she needs to justify it to herself and her kid...
If she actually gave a damn, she’d be making an effort instead of digging for excuses..

My cycle used to be clockwork—like, seriously, never an issue,
but now? I have no clue if I'll actually make it to July 12th on schedule...
Man, if only we could get a heads-up on this stuff ahead of time...

George Ramirez11 said:Look, if social services had actually suspected for a second that my kid was unhappy or that I wasn't doing a good job, they would have snatched them away. Instead, they just believe me blindly—they assume I'm clean because the kid is smiling and happy and I look totally normal. So, please, don't jump to conclusions before you know anything.
Second thing: Everyone keeps talking about "slowly dying." My dad died from throat cancer—smoking, obviously—so I guess it's all my fault because he didn't have enough guts to just quit due to some "stupidity or weakness," right?? It’s awful; I watched him literally starve because the chemo burned his throat out. Maybe they should have taken custody from him then!?
Or... if I had AIDS, would it be my own fault for not telling my partner to use a condom?? And now I'm slowly dying... do I need to lose my child again???
Let's be clear, I've hit rock bottom more times than I can count. Like Noah Sanchez7 said, I seriously ran out of veins to use; even now, during pregnancy, they were pulling blood from my toe because they couldn't find a vein in my arm or neck. Now I use my nose, so I can't overdose easily, though sometimes there are days when I just take some Hep or Sbtx. So, this is a far cry from those days when I didn't even care if I woke up in the morning. You might think I'm just venting, but I know how I feel now compared to back when I used to take Prozac and Xanax and beg for the crying to stop like I was in an Ariel commercial.
Also, the state basically gives me permission to take whatever pills I want. Seriously, my social worker told me: "Go see a psychiatrist and let them cocktail you; if they have to prescribe 15 different types of meds just to make you feel like you're flying, so be it. You aren't pregnant anymore, after all!" Isn't that just hilarious and hypocritical?
Third thing—rehab isn't for everyone, and a therapist once told me that exact thing. I've already mentioned that unfortunately, I see more and more people sliding back into their old ways after years in recovery. Because what comes after? Don't underestimate the role of the state. Not everyone has the luxury to "change their environment," move away, and whatever else. I don't live in a massive metropolis where moving to a different neighborhood means nobody knows you. Hell, I have problems with a landlord who blames me for every single lightbulb that burns out in the hallway. Apparently, it's my fault because of some "sick or deviant" reason I have!!! It would be lovely if I could volunteer and help others, or if I had the money to start my own business for people like me... but I have to work to survive.
Fourth thing—my kid cries so hard on the other side of the door when I go to pee—which takes maybe a minute, bless them—that it takes me another half hour just to calm them down afterward.
And finally, the fifth thing—I'm sure you'll all have another thousand pieces of advice, but everything is so much easier in theory than in practice. Besides, rest assured, I have heard everything. Every single thing. I KNOW all of it! That's why I said at the beginning that I'm looking for support and encouraging words more than advice, because I doubt any more tips are going to help me much.
I'm not ungrateful, and I always hope someone will just pull a magic wand out of thin air and make everything easy, but... I have to do this myself. I wanted to be honest and feel a little bit of outside love because, like everyone else with problems, I am alone. At least for now, while the little one doesn't realize anything, and I won't let them ever feel my struggles.

Just excuses on top of excuses...
Jesse Flores842 said:Look, I hate to be the one to break it to you... but even that "pulling out on time" method isn't actually contraception—it’s more like playing the lottery. 😳
If your cycle is textbook (say, 28 days), you still have a little bit of breathing room. Based on yesterday, you were likely around day 11, and ovulation usually hits around day 14... obviously, nothing is a 100% guarantee, but you're in a much better spot than if you had missed it by three or four days.
Fingers crossed for you...

So, looking at my ovulation calendar, I'm technically in my fertile window right now, even if I haven't hit that absolute peak yet.

Keith Thomas11 said:Why don't you just go grab the Plan B pill?

Look, I’m not exactly thrilled about the idea of getting pregnant, so I'm definitely not looking to make that happen right now.

Charles Ramirez59 said:Actually, she's in a worse spot.
Sperm can live inside the body for about five days just waiting for an egg. An egg only lives for about 24 hours, which is why the fertile window includes the days BEFORE ovulation, the day of, and maybe the day after.

So, she basically hit the jackpot. 🙂

(By the way, the "pulling out" method has a 20% pregnancy rate. That is NOT contraception. If you end up pregnant, it wasn't bad luck—you just did exactly what happens when you use that method.)

If only Coca-Cola could just hand out babies... honestly, I wouldn't even mind.

If you ask me, he could've just finished the job since he already had his hands in the cookie jar.
Morning, everyone..

So, my man got a little too carried away yesterday and we didn't exactly wrap things up on schedule..
It turns out I was right in the middle of my fertile window, since my last period started back on June 15th..
Now I’m just sitting here playing the waiting game to see if I’m actually going to be a mom...

And what about the addicts???
Nobody asks about them and nobody advocates for them either; they just toss them onto the street like trash, leaving them zero chance at a decent life.

Look who’s talking about how nobody stands up for them...
If someone actually ran up to you offering help... if you were honest and actually wanted it, you’d see it isn’t quite like what you’re claiming...
I don't hate addicts, but I hate what they've chosen to become and the way they consciously wreck their own lives while refusing to help themselves...
Every day I’d see addicts who couldn't even hold a conversation because they were so high on heroin; they couldn't even keep their spit in their mouths, just constant drooling...
And the end result was him and his mother—who was in the exact same boat—lying there with a newborn... who pays the bills? There was one potato in the fridge...
So tell me now, who am I supposed to feel sorry for? I felt for that baby... I couldn't wrap my head around them. Their grandparents ended up taking the child away...
They took them to Sakoman a hundred times... they tried every therapy under the sun, even those blockbusters... and you know what happened? It didn't work. The craving was just too strong...
Then came the moment when the debts piled up (they sold half their stuff, thousands in unpaid bills... the parents finally split them up. First, the cousin agreed to go into rehab because he had no other choice...
As for the young lady, she kept using secretly for another 6 months while pretending to go to detox (the old folks believed her and kept giving her money), so when everything finally blew up, things got ugly for her too, and now she’s stuck in rehab herself...
The kid is wonderful, though. After 4 months, he went to join his mom in rehab, and that's where they are now...
Come on people, addiction is a disease, sure, but it's a disease that can be treated. So put in some actual effort instead of just whining about how society won't accept you...
