Chapped lips/dry skin around mouth help? in Health ·
Amy Moore38 said:I've got a bit of an issue... the skin on my lips is super dry (not cracked, though). I use Burt's Bees all the time.

Are you sure that stuff actually works for you? Personally, those kinds of products just mess with me. They make my lips feel dry and flaky.

Honestly, I think some of us subconsciously crave the sadness. I catch myself spiraling, worrying about what my life will look like if my boyfriend leaves me—and yeah, it would be devastating, but it isn't the end of the world. Instead of looking at the silver linings, I find myself stuck in this loop of "what if he's gone," and it just feels... wrong. We all need to realize that pain is an inherent part of being alive. It’s always going to be there in some capacity; the real trick is finding a way to walk through it with our heads held high. So, to anyone out there feeling like their ship has sunk, or like you're completely broken and beyond hope: you're wrong. There is always hope, and brighter days are coming. I know this because I’ve lived it. The hardest thing I ever went through was last year when I lost my absolute best friend. He wasn't just a buddy; he was like a father and a brother rolled into one. He was the guy who stood by me when everyone else walked away, the person I spent every single day with. When he passed, my whole world lost its meaning. I couldn't eat—I actually dropped 22 pounds in a single month—and I didn't leave my room for two months. I didn't want to talk to anyone; there was just this heavy, suffocating silence. It felt impossible to bear. Slowly, I started trying to make peace with it. I began going outside again, even though I felt guilty, like making new friends would somehow be a betrayal to him. It's taken a year, and while the ache hasn't vanished, I’ve learned how to carry it. I still find myself listening for him or hoping he might suddenly reappear, and I miss him every day, but I also realize that my life didn't stop moving just because his did. If you feel like you can't get over someone, or that happiness is something that's permanently off the table for you, please believe me when I say you're mistaken. It is never too late to find joy again.😉

I don't really buy that. Sure, some people struggle more with bad news and end up grieving longer than others, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a "desire" for sadness.

People get used to everything, including being sad. It sucks, but that's just how it works.

I only clicked on this because of the title 😵

nimblepanther23 said:Bananas actually worked for me.

What’s the deal with the banana? Let's see if it really has to be bananas or if something else works too... 🤷 😁

Maybe it's a potassium thing and helps with water retention, but half a banana sounds way too small to actually do anything.🤷

Edit: Just saw it says half a banana over two weeks—okay, that's actually a decent amount of fruit.🤔 I'll give it a shot.

There’s actually a whole thread about this here:

It’s not about the warmer winter weather, it’s actually because all the skiers are coming back, just like every single year.🙄

I'm not sure what "plumber's gel" actually is, but I've heard those kinds of cleaners can eat right through your pipes. If that happens, you’re definitely gonna need a plumber and then some.👋
Sensitive skin issues in Health ·
I think I’m dealing with something similar... though for me, it’s not just about that "synthetic" lingering scent. It’s way more about what the clothes are actually washed with (her, 🤔 and me too)... here’s my take—I never touch fabric softener. Everything gets washed with powder detergents and rinsed out thoroughly. I don't even touch liquid detergent (not sure why, but that's just how I roll)
Same goes for shower gels—they drive me crazy, and bubble baths are even worse. But since I still want to stay clean ( 😛 ), I’ve realized that the least harmful things for me are soaps. Not those cheap ones you grab at the local CVS, but the old-school, dry kind you usually find in high-end boutiques 🙂

Also, whenever I see something labeled "hypoallergenic-anti-allergy-whatever," it actually makes my skin feel worse than just using regular stuff (and no, don't ask me why)

One question, though: I see some people here thinking anything labeled "baby" is better. Why is that? I’m not saying it’s totally different from adult products, but "baby" doesn't automatically mean it's gentler 😉 (we probably need an expert to weigh in on what's actually going on there)

Exactly—I feel like "simpler" products work better for me, just with way fewer additives
Do you drink tap water? in Health ·
I haven't touched tap water in 11 years. In all that time, I’ve maybe taken two sips from the sink by accident 😁... Honestly, I don't care what city I'm in or how good the local water quality is supposed to be—I'm just not drinking it.

We still use tap water for cooking, though I've noticed people are even starting to buy bottled water just for that.

Hypnosis: Yay or Nay? in Health ·
Kyle Nelson2 :
That’s just plain wrong.
Hypnosis is actually a natural state of mind. If you leave a "client" in that trance, they’re either going to wake up on their own or just drift off to sleep.

Sure, if you say so... honestly, I don't really care.🥳

🤔But can someone hypnotize us without us even realizing it? Let me clarify... without us asking for it. Like, could you hypnotize an acquaintance while you're just hanging out and talking, without them being aware of it, making them go through the whole process without ever knowing?
Hypnosis: Yay or Nay? in Health ·
Kyle Nelson2 said:The whole idea is just focusing your awareness on specific body parts, relaxing, stuff like that. You hit that alpha state by level 6 of hypnosis (out of 30).

hehe... anyone want me to hypnotize them??

Since it’s obvious you know your way around hypnosis, I gotta ask you something: I’ve heard from some pros—actual experts in the field, not just randoms—that there are people who never actually "come back" after hypnosis. So, let's see what your experience and knowledge tells you about that... 😛
Dealing with Anemia in Health ·

Just wanted to double down on this... pretty sure it works.
allegra said:Exactly. If you serve a steak with some fresh bell peppers or sauerkraut, you're getting both iron and Vitamin C. And kids can eat all of that at this age.👍

Sure, they can, but do they actually want to? Plus, where are you even going to find fresh bell peppers right now? Trying to get a kid to eat fruit this time of year—like finding decent, organic citrus locally 😢—is a nightmare. Good luck trying to squeeze juices or whatever else they'll demand.

Gregory Turner71 said:What am I even supposed to hope for? 🙄

Look, whatever they end up finding, you can "hope" ( 🙄 ) to spend forever hunting down the right shampoo, soap, or whatever else won't wreck your skin. Maybe some diet tweaks or switching up your clothes will help too...

But honestly, it all depends on what the actual issue is. I'm just hoping you don't have anything serious going on, or if you do, that it's something easy to deal with so you don't have to "hope" for much at all. 🙂
Gregory Turner71 said:Anyone have any clue what this could be or what I should do about it?

Seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, an allergic reaction... honestly, it could be anything. My advice? Don't try to DIY this. Don't go slathering random stuff on it. Just get to a doctor ASAP:
You don't need to tell me to see a doctor. I've already got an appointment with a dermatologist next week.

Brittle, peeling nails: any tips? in Health ·
Karen White13 said:I've got Essie and L'Oreal hardeners, and honestly, the L'Oreal one is awesome.🙂

But my nails are actually pretty tough, they just peel.🙂 Even when that top layer flakes off ( 😲 ), what’s left underneath is thin, but still strong enough... I can't really grow them long, but I can manage about 2-3 mm, which works for me, but still...

🙂I need something specifically for peeling, not just hardening. And I don't want anything I have to eat or drink—just something you apply directly to the nail. Any ideas? 😎

Also, one more thing: could peeling happen because I'm using a nail file wrong? 🥳

I've got "peeling nails," but zero advice.😁 🙄

This just happened a few days ago, probably the first time ever: my right nails just started peeling ( 🙄 ) all over the tips, so now they look totally uneven... and looks like it's starting on my left hand too. 🙄

Honestly, I don't usually have issues with them. I'd even say they're pretty solid. 🙄
Warning: Harmful cosmetic products! in Health ·
Karen Brooks said:I think this list is just based on how often certain product allergies pop up. Honestly, there isn't anything out there you can't be allergic to.

Exactly... someone just gathered some data on what triggers reactions for certain people.
I don't think there's a single product today that at least one person isn't allergic to. We're just seeing more and more stuff that doesn't sit right with us every day.
This is just a handful of examples... price, quality, or how popular a product is has zero impact on whether it'll trigger an allergy for someone.

The stuff that messes with my skin ranges from super cheap to high-end "quality" brands.

Ultimately, this list doesn't really mean much for any of us individually. 🙄
