Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
If you look in the box right under the page numbers, there’s an option that says "Search this topic"—you can just use that to dig around.🙂 A few of the girls used to use it back in the day, but it hasn't really come up lately... so I honestly doubt any of us would be much help to you right now.
Wait, really? 😲
But why even go that route? Seems totally impractical to me—it’s not like they're gonna be sending you in for extra checkups every two months or anything...
Evelyn, yeah, it’s totally normal to take a break—you should probably expect your period within those 7 days anyway. 🙂

Dotty, I'm not really sure if your OBGYN would prescribe birth control for just a specific window of time. 🤔 In my case, I just got a recurring prescription and went back for a check-up after 12 months (plus, you need a regular exam once a year anyway, so you might as well get the refill while you're there). 😉
Extra protection can't hurt, but if I'm reading these instructions right—you only really need the backup if you miss a pill and more than 24 hours go by. In this case, she didn't actually forget anything, she just started her new pack a little early. I've never actually tried doing it that way though, so I'm not totally sure...
I think so, but doesn't it say somewhere that you might get some spotting while you're on the next pack, even if your period doesn't show up until the next break? Or am I just totally trippin'... 🤔
But hey, honestly, that’s probably better than dealing with an actual period anyway. 😁

And about extra protection—the instructions say to use it for 7 days (after you miss a pill), but since you didn't technically forget to take one, I'm not sure if you actually need it. Though, I guess it wouldn't hurt... 🙂

Has anyone actually ended up with a bigger nose after surgery than they had before?...

Are you asking if someone tried to get an augmentation but it backfired... or if it just somehow looks larger by accident? 🤔
Amy Brooks17 said:Hey everyone...
I honestly got so worked up today when I realized my surgery date on March 30th might clash with my period... my cycle is shifting around a bit, and since mine usually lasts forever, it looks like it’s going to overlap right with the procedure. Now I'm spiraling—if that actually happens, will they just push the surgery back until it's over, or what? My heart is racing because I can barely even breathe properly—my left nostril is basically non-functional at this point—and I'm struggling to breathe through my mouth too. Seriously, I just can't deal with this anymore...
How long do people actually end up staying in the hospital, and how much downtime is required—like, how long before you can even think about heading outside? I've heard a million different stories from everyone, so I’m just trying to get some clarity for my college attendance situation... specifically regarding hospitals in Miami—not private clinics, just the standard ones.

I went to a private clinic, so I can't say for sure if the procedure is exactly the same as what they do at the hospital—but they didn't give me any trouble regarding my period. Since my cycle is pretty irregular, I couldn't really plan things out too far in advance... but they told me to just let them know if I happen to be menstruating. If I understood them right, they'll just manage it by expecting a bit more bleeding during the surgery... 🤔And that’s really it. There wasn't even any mention of postponing the surgery...

Recovery is such a personal thing, really... honestly, everyone handles it differently. I actually had my surgery right in the middle of finals week—talk about bad timing—and I was already heading back to take exams after about 10 days. I felt pretty good by then, too, even though I was dealing with some minor issues downstairs... nothing crazy, just some light diarrhea, you know? So, if you ask me, you shouldn't need more than two weeks to get back on your feet... 😉
placidscout25 said:After reading what I wrote, I realized it sounds like I’m literally throwing up through my nose, hahahahahahahahah 🤣 Honestly, I'm just terrified I might choke. Who knows... total paranoia on my part. But thanks, guys 😉

Oh come on, at least we all got a good laugh out of it. 🤣
Nah, you aren't gonna choke. Everything is going to be just fine in the end... 😉
placidscout25 said:Hey everyone. After thinking about this for years, I've finally decided to go through with nose surgery. My nose is broken, which makes breathing pretty tough—plus, I want to fix up the aesthetics a bit too. Honestly, nothing scares me more than the anesthesia part. I've never been under general anesthesia before and I am terrified. The doctor said it'll be general, and my biggest fear is... what if I feel nauseous and start throwing up while my nose is all stuffed with packing?! I would really appreciate hearing about anyone's experiences waking up from anesthesia. Thanks!

Well... will you throw up? I mean, it'll just come out of your mouth, right? 🤣
Not everyone gets sick after anesthesia. If it does happen to you, it probably won't be fun, but hey, it is what it is—you'll forget about it pretty fast... 🙂
Ashley Smith82 said:Hey, I'm thinking about getting nose surgery with Dr. Glusac in Makarska—I've heard nothing but amazing things about him... has anyone here actually gone through it with him before?🙂)

He pops up in this thread all the time. Honestly, why not just scroll through some of these 488 pages? I bet you'll find exactly what you're looking for way faster than sitting around waiting for someone to reply here... 😉

Aaron Nguyen26 said:I stopped taking birth control back in May 2013, after about five or six years on it. Since then, I've been dealing with spotting during ovulation and both before and after my period. If I count all that bleeding as part of my cycle, my period basically lasts ten to fourteen days. It’s a weird pattern: I get some bleeding for a couple of days, then nothing for a few, then it starts again for a bit, stops, and repeats.
Is anyone else dealing with something similar?
My gynecologist told me everything seems fine, but I guess I'm wondering if anyone knows what might actually be going on.

I'm also curious if I can start hormonal contraception again. When would I even start if I'm not entirely sure which day is actually the first day of my period?

Thanks.

It felt kinda weird to me when my gynecologist said that was totally fine—like, honestly, I was pretty thrown by it... 🤷
Have you ever thought about getting a second opinion?

As far as birth control goes, I don't really see why you couldn't use them. You haven't been on them for ages—and, assuming you aren't in any high-risk groups—they should actually make things easier for you, especially when it comes to how long your period lasts... According to the instructions for the ones I take, it’s best to pop that first pill on the very first day of your period—that way, you're protected from day one. But I'm guessing you could probably start on a different day too, if you had to... 🤔

Anyway, you should probably go chat with a gynecologist just to be safe... 😉
Ryan Cooper37 said:Could someone please help me out? I need to know how everyone manages without breathing through their nose for a whole week after surgery because of the packing and all that... honestly, my biggest worry is just how I'm going to sleep...

I don't get why everyone makes such a big deal out of mouth breathing... like, what's the actual issue? Just try pinching your nose shut—you know, like you're holding your breath—and you'll see how reflexively you start breathing through your mouth almost instantly. It’s the exact same thing that happens when you're asleep... 🙂

Maria Castillo23 said:I actually lost some weight too—mostly because I didn't even feel like eating anything until they finally took those tampons out... I just had zero appetite at all... 😁

Glad you found that helpful... 🙂
Alex Cox38 said:Look, I really hope someone steps up soon who actually knows how to handle this.
Basically, I was supposed to start my second pack on Sunday—but I ended up taking the first pill on Monday instead. I also had sex the same day I took that first pill, just a few hours later. Out of pure panic, I finally took the missed dose today, Tuesday, at 6 AM. What do you guys think—is there any chance I could end up pregnant?...

Honestly, I’d say there’s probably no reason to stress too much. But hey, I'm definitely no medical expert or anything...😁

From what I was looking up on Google—it shouldn't interfere at all. 😉
Lisa Reyes58 said:I found this info about him online... honestly, with all those years under his belt, it sounds pretty promising....

Look, I'm pretty sure every doctor being brought up in this thread has decades of experience, but just because they've been around doesn't mean they're actually good—that's really not enough info to go on when you're making a call like this. 🙂>

I mean, I can set an alarm, but if I don't grab it the second it goes off, I basically just crash.😁
I always try to take it right when I'm getting the little one ready for daycare, and if I don't do it immediately, I'm done for.😛
So I asked at the pharmacy yesterday, and this old lady there was totally useless—just gave me nothing. Like, zero help.🙂
Whatever, I'll just finish the pack and call it a day. I've only got 4 left. Today's Friday, but my schedule says I missed the dose for Thursday.

Maybe you should look into using some extra protection for like... 7 days? Just a thought... 🤔
Maybe go see a gynecologist for a checkup later... or just hunt down a pharmacy with a cute young pharmacist behind the counter... 😁

P.S. I swear, sleeping is literally a lifesaver... 🧐 My phone goes off every five minutes until I finally get my drink—plus, my better half set an extra alarm just in case I totally blank out on it... 🙂

Hey everyone!
I was wondering if it's actually possible to just operate on the tip of the nose—like, specifically just reducing the cartilage?🤔
My nose is pretty straight and narrow, but when I look at my profile, I just can't deal with it... the tip is way too pointy and sticks out since I have a pretty small, short face. That profile has been driving me crazy for years, and honestly, it’s not even about vanity or deep-seated complexes or anything like that... it's just annoying. 😢

Who would you say is the best surgeon for this in Miami, and what kind of price range am I looking at?

Thanks for any help at all😉
Yeah, that's definitely doable. 🙂

As for which surgeon to pick, you might want to ask someone else... I don't really know much about the medical side of things. 😉

Harold Cook2 said:So, what's the move when you realize—like, days later—that there’s an extra pill just chilling in the blister pack? Do I just skip it or should I actually take it? Honestly, I totally blanked again. Last time it happened, it was within like 24 hours so I jumped on it immediately, but this time way more time has slipped by.

It probably won't affect you much. 🤣
Have you tried setting a daily alarm for the exact same time every day?

How many pills do you have left in the pack? Honestly, it usually works the same way even if it's been more than 12 hours since you were supposed to take it, but... maybe double-check with your doctor or someone at the pharmacy first just to be safe. 😉

Alex Gonzalez5 said:Raymond Gray2, neonstag63,

Thanks for being so understanding. It really means a lot to hear stuff like that...
Trust me, I’ve tried everything you guys suggested regarding my health issues—I'm constantly speaking up, and sometimes it actually works for maybe half an hour... but I can't just keep repeating myself over and over. That would mean doing it 5 or 6 times a day, 5 days a week. We'd end up fighting until we're both exhausted. Maybe that's where it's headed, honestly, I don't even know anymore. I wouldn't want that though, because I really value having good relationships with my coworkers... but seriously, since this morning, the room has been so smoky that the smoke is practically stinging my eyes.
I show up showered, in clean clothes, smelling great, and then I leave here smelling gross, with my hair feeling all sticky... I hate it, I feel so gross about myself, I'm almost too embarrassed to even walk up to the cashier at the grocery store.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. My lungs are taking a hit, my heart is struggling, I am truly at my breaking point!
Dammit, they're so obsessed with forcing that stench down everyone's throats! *their intelligence is non-existent!!!!!!*
Sorry, I just snapped 😢

I don't know, I get that you're tired of it, but would you rather be seen as "difficult" or deal with constant health problems? 🤔
I totally get how exhausting it is to constantly have to tell someone to stop doing something, but don't you think it's worth it this time? This isn't some tiny annoyance—it's about your actual health.

Isn't there some kind of law against smoking in office spaces? :don't get caught up in those things: 🙈
Health risks of secondhand smoke in Health ·
Man, I am seriously so sorry for everything you’re going through right now. I know how much smoke messes with me personally—I can barely handle it—so I honestly can't even imagine how you're dealing with this...

You've gotta keep calling them out on it. 🤷
Just be upfront and let them know it’s bothering you—tell them about your health issues and how much it would actually mean if they just smoked less or stepped outside to light up instead. If you ask them to be mindful and things just go right back to how they were, don't let it slide. When you see them slipping back into those old habits, speak up again. Just try to stay persistent... maybe if you become annoying enough about it, they'll finally give in. 😬
