My philosophy is pretty simple—just eat and drink whatever your body tells you to. If I'm hungry, I eat; if I'm thirsty, I drink. No stress.

My body is basically demanding six miles a day—no joke—so I’m wondering... is that actually healthy?

I’d love for someone to actually define—or maybe just drop a link explaining—what exactly counts as an "abnormal" amount of water? 😉

Look, I know someone who thinks half a liter is way too much—but then you have other women I know who’ll polish off an entire case of water in just a couple of days. I'm talking two-liter bottles, six at a time... just gone. 😁 )

But I’m constantly thirsty 😁... I mean, I'm not dying or anything—I just find myself needing a glass of water every hour or so, I guess.

It actually got to the point where a few years back, I went in for some tests because people were convinced my health was off 😉. Turns out, everything was fine. The doctor basically told me, "If you're thirsty, just drink."

I'm actually doing everything you suggested; I'll have about two liters of water, plus maybe a liter of milk, some kefir, maybe a little broth, or some watery fruit... looking at it written down like that, it sounds 😲 a bit much, but it really works for me.

What’s the actual difference between mineral water and isotonic drinks? It would be great if someone could explain those isotonic ones to me—is that basically just Gatorade or something along those lines?

Look, I’ve always been a big water drinker—mostly because of my blood pressure (though I’d drink it regardless, since my BP isn't even that bad)—but I know I'd pass out if I only stuck to a liter a day.😁

I really don't think this is going to help me lose weight, 😁 either. Or help me "flush out toxins." There's no way I'm low on potassium, especially since I'm drinking plenty of mineral water anyway.

I agree that drinking excessive amounts of water isn't ideal—but honestly, 2 liters a day isn't exactly some extreme outlier 😎

shadowfalcon33 said:Back when I was living in Germany, this was my biggest—and honestly, most frustrating—issue. I’d spend days just daydreaming about getting a real Turkish coffee...
Now that I'm back home, I've got a drip machine, so I only make the Turkish stuff every once in a while. It's just not really my vibe anymore.

Look, finding decent Turkish coffee in Germany isn't actually the struggle it used to be 😉

There are more Turks living there than there are in Turkey itself 😁

The topic came up at the Food Expo
Sunglasses in Health ·
So, I’m currently rocking two pairs—my standard prescription glasses and my prescription sunglasses.

Same here.

I usually only break out the first pair when I have to pull an all-nighter at work—otherwise, I'm pretty much always forgetting them on my nightstand. 🙄

I actually had my sunglasses permanently tinted—did it at a boutique in Chicago—so yeah, it definitely isn't cheap, you weren't kidding. 😉

There are certain antibiotics that are okay to take during pregnancy—Zithromax just isn't one of them. (I actually asked about this back when I needed one right after giving birth; I managed to dodge the antibiotics in the end, but honestly, I'd rather forget that whole ordeal)

I ended up with an inflamed elbow joint and had to get a steroid shot injected directly into the muscle—which, if you ask me, felt way worse than labor 😲.

If you want to dig into pregnancy meds (or steroids), there’s more info over here—there's a German site that really gets what you're going through
.

link 1 At the end of the link, there's a chart showing which drugs (like Voltaren, for example) pass into breast milk and in what percentages. For some, you aren't supposed to nurse for at least four hours after taking it.

I didn't take anything while I was pregnant. A few times I was dying for something for a toothache, but I held out. Acupuncture helped me get through, though I know not everyone is into that kind of thing.

Go ahead and look for an alternative medication before things get out of hand. Don't make the mistake I did—I waited until the absolute last second (until I couldn't even wipe my own butt, let alone handle everything else... breastfeeding required outside help, too). Then the baby blues hit me like a freight train. I was stubborn, too—if I hadn't gotten professional advice in time, I wouldn't have even made it to the injection stage.

Man, I used to have such a massive crush on Daniel Biffel... seriously. I actually spent my days listening to his band while they were still practicing away in some tiny apartment in New York City 😁

Hopefully, they've leveled up by now 😁

You won't know until you try.

Well... if you actually read my post earlier in this thread, you'd see I did try. Twice, actually. 😁 The second time worked—had much better motivation.

So yeah, not everyone can kick the habit that quickly.

*****...(I just don't get Germans who drink it black without sugar or milk.

Me neither—it’s honestly pretty gross.

It just hit me—I forgot to pick up black tea this morning!

😂 👍

Maybe someone currently struggling to quit might find your way of doing it helpful.

Sure, you could add milk, but then it isn't really Turkish coffee anymore. Just saying.

nimbledriver81 said:Not really. I actually quit Starbucks in just three days. Now it's just tea—just enough to take the edge off while I wake up. It took me way longer to kick the cigarettes.

So you're basically a rare breed, huh? 🙂

And a man of principle—I'm being serious here. Most people can't pull off a detox that fast.

Karen Brooks, thanks, but I doubt four-year-olds should be sipping Starbucks constantly (assuming things balance out later)—though honestly, I shouldn't really weigh in on your business.

You don't put milk in Turkish coffee. 😁

I've been drinking coffee since I was four years old.

Wait, coffee actually stops vomiting?

People told me the same thing about diarrhea and coffee—though I never actually tried it because I couldn't stand the thought of skipping the ritual of a sugary soda. It’s almost unavoidable, really. 😁

But seriously—did your parents actually let you drink Turkish coffee once you hit four (after things settled down health-wise)? 😕

urbanseal6 said:Ah, I see! So maybe you've just gotten hooked—Nescafé can definitely be habit-forming. But why quit? Having one cup a day is standard, though if you're crushing about five, I don't think it's dangerous either—so I don't really see why you'd need to detox. Just enjoy it, girl!☕

I actually tried to kick the habit once and totally failed after a month—mostly because my coworkers at the office were constantly swapping out my 😠 with the exact same spoon—but I finally managed to quit successfully while I was pregnant. You aren't supposed to have caffeine then, anyway.

People say green tea is a solid substitute for Starbucks; it worked wonders for me.
Caffeine addiction? in Health ·
Of course caffeine is addictive. It’s just as hard to kick as cigarettes or whatever else you're hooked on.

And since Nescafé has caffeine in it, the same rules apply.

I used to work with someone who would get these brutal headaches every single weekend—she couldn't even function until noon, just totally groggy.

She didn't want to believe it was because she'd down nearly two full cups of black coffee—the strong stuff, no milk—before 5 AM 😲 but she'd skip it all weekend. So, yeah, she was basically dealing with withdrawal juice every Saturday.😉

It’s really about how we treat animals.

Honestly, seeing this bothers me way more than all those chemicals found in mass-produced processed food.

I mean, once I saw what the chickens actually look like—the ones providing those "delicious" chicken breasts you see at the local Kroger—it changed everything. They're pumped full of hormones just to bloat their breasts, and they end up stumbling around on wet concrete floors because they can barely walk under their own weight. They're practically featherless 🙂

My solution? I’d much rather pay double or even quadruple the price for my own chicken if it means seeing a bird that actually had a normal body, looked up at the sky, and spent its days roaming through grass.

I can tell you right now, I wouldn't touch a single piece of meat if it was produced in that kind of inhumane way.

For me and my budget, that just means eating less meat overall—but when I do eat it, I want it to be quality stuff.

Thanks, 🙂 I was actually leaning more toward a medical explanation for that statement—but since I’m no doctor, maybe we should just let it go.
My physician actually told me something different; she suggested pills were a solid solution for anemia, especially given my heavy cycles. For me, they actually stabilized everything—instead of eight days, my period lasted four, I felt way better, and the flow was much lighter... so from that perspective, her point made sense.
But then I read a few guys on here who gave up on the pill for various reasons... does anyone have another method? (Besides abstinence, which was the "expert" advice I got). Does anyone know of another option for birth control?

I wasn't exactly thrilled while I was on them, and honestly, I'm not exactly loving my current method either.😁

Total joker... honestly, maybe I shouldn't even respond to this—I am a respectable woman, after all.😁

But if that guy wanted to sweep me off my feet, he could... and I might just be closer to him than ever right now.😉 🙂

After I stopped taking birth control, my iron levels finally stabilized—it was such a relief. Mind you, my diet is already loaded with iron-rich foods, but the pills were just nuking my levels to impossible lows.

Could you explain that a bit more? I’ve been fighting an uphill battle with iron my entire life—honestly, a glass of dark blackberry juice did more for me than any supplement ever could. My mom used to bring me iron tablets and syrups almost every month since I was a kid, and on top of all that, I was on the pill for ages.
