It's hitting 105 degrees...

I was doing alright until last night, but this humidity absolutely killed me. I stepped outside and almost passed out—probably because I haven't eaten a single thing since 3:00

my blood pressure is low and I handle the heat pretty poorly...
so when they forecast 105 degrees like this... I just freeze up...
but hey, look on the bright side—I'm a natural-born worrier, so I usually spiral way before anything actually happens, yet once the shit hits the fan, everything goes surprisingly smooth...
so... I need to vent my panic here a bit (just so my husband can get a break...), and then we'll face that 105 degree heat head-on...

why don't you just stand under the AC
or stick your feet in a basin of cold water? 😬
casualsurfer said:Just to be clear, "to slip up" and "to crash" aren't the same thing. In plain American English, "to crash" means you're dead, not just that you fell...🤣
casualsurfer said:🤣 🤣 🤣 where exactly did you feel insulted?
unbelievable..
Back to the main point, I've got training tomorrow and need to be downtown by 9, which is about an hour commute on public transit.😠 I think I'm gonna wither away... it's already hitting 77 degrees tomorrow morning, but hopefully it won't feel this humid until later.
casualsurfer said:The topic is still: how to stay sane and survive the upcoming heatwave.
So what was I supposed to post? Something about the economy?

Don't you read the news? We're looking at a global catastrophe by 2070 if we don't fix things, and then it's straight to the apocalypse. For starters, we'll deal with total droughts because precipitation is going to plummet. People will obviously die from the heatwaves. The ozone layer will be gone.😲 There will be wars over water and oil... I read all this in the Globe; some scientists conducted the research.
Why does this bother us..? Oh Bo...🙄

And they’re actually planning to head out to a friend's cabin for the weekend... her place is always a furnace because she doesn't have AC...
I have no idea how anyone is going to survive when the temperature spikes over the next few days...
Honestly, we're all just gonna drop dead like flies.

As for the ER (assuming we're talking about an urgent care clinic): there isn't much more they could actually do for you. Personally, when I'm on call in the ER, I perform a clinical neurological exam to try and diagnose whatever I can through physical assessment—things like vertigo that don't necessarily require a specialist. But honestly, from what I know, these clinics just don't have the diagnostic tools they need, so you can't really expect much more from them. That's just the way the American healthcare system works. Though, I'll admit, you find all sorts of doctors in the ER because medical school doesn't teach us anything about emergency medicine. You either educate yourself if you're interested in ER work, or you get thrown into the deep end without warning 😁
