hollowmason64 said:Look, let's get one thing straight—I am not being difficult. I already mentioned that I’ve never actually complained about the cardboard packaging before. Honestly, I haven't even complained about yours, even though I sent you a pretty direct message in your inbox explaining exactly where I stood on them.
I don't really bother arguing with the mods about bans or warnings. I already touched on my reasons for that in my very first post, but honestly, it just feels like a losing battle. One day you get hit with a penalty, the next time you slide by unnoticed, and everything seems fine. At the end of the day, this is just an online forum. It’s not like someone is going to show up at my house in Chicago and beat me over the head with a ruler because of some digital slap on the wrist. There's no physical danger here, so there's really no point in fighting to "defend" myself. Besides, every moderator seems to have their own version of the rules anyway, so you can explain yourself all you want, but you're probably just talking to a brick wall.
I honestly don't doubt for a second that you’ve got a perfectly valid excuse ready to go for everything, but since you asked, I’d actually be really curious to hear your take on that last thing.
I was thinking it might be fun to dive into why you felt like that was directed at you and why it hit such a nerve.

Look, I honestly don't care how many warnings or bans you're handing out to people, and frankly, that’s the kind of answer you're going to get from every single moderator on this site. At the end of the day, what happens with someone else's disciplinary record isn't your business.
At least try to be consistent for once instead of making excuses like, "Oh, look at how much I gave her..."
I can only tell you this much—and it’s an easily verifiable fact: in all the ten years or more I've been hanging around this Gossip thread, I don't think anyone has ever been shut down or kicked out quite as fast as you were. It’s pretty unprecedented, really.
It’s pretty wild to think about—you’ve managed to rack up four bans and 160 penalty points on me in just about two months of posting.
I mean, looking back at the last ten years and all those dozens of mods who have come and gone... I’ve definitely had some run-ins with people where things got pretty messy. I remember dealing with Tupelo once, and honestly, nobody has ever shut me down quite like that. It was so blunt and happened so fast. When you get ghosted or dismissed that hard after such a short interaction, it really feels like one thing—it feels like you were just targeted.

Regarding the whole situation about removing you from the moderation team—honestly, I don't really have a horse in this race. It doesn't affect my life one way or another, and I truly don't care who ends up holding the reins. To me, it’s all pretty much the same.
What I’m really getting at is that I want you to just... lose it a little bit. Go off the rails. Get a little "unhinged."
Look, that PDF was around long before you showed up, and it’ll still be here long after you're gone. Same goes for this thread. Just like every other moderator who held down the fort before you, you're expected to respect the rules we all agreed on years ago and maintain the same style of communication we've used with each other all this time.
Look, I don't think you were brought on as a moderator just because we’re all being difficult and need someone to clean up our communication style. Honestly, if that were the case, they would have handled things differently. It feels more like you were stepped into this role simply because someone else moved on, and they needed a steady hand to fill the gap.
Look, you really need to stop killing the PDF uploads and sanitizing the thread just because something doesn't sit right with you. If the rest of us aren't having any issues when we're calling each other idiots or getting heated and talking trash during a debate, then you definitely shouldn't be stepping in to police it either.
We always managed to find our way back to the line and just settle down together.
Look, if you’re planning on actually respecting—I’m struggling to find a better way to put this, honestly—the way we all used to communicate and handle things before you showed up, then I don't really have an issue with you staying on as a moderator.
Look, if you’re going to keep jumping down my throat like this... honestly, I don't have the energy to go back and forth with you anymore, whether it's here or anywhere else. I've got much more important and interesting things to do with my life. I'm heading off to finish up some paperwork on my laptop, so you can stay here and deal with those few people who actually enjoy your attitude. Have fun talking to them; I'll be back once you've moved on.

And just one last thing—it’s actually pretty wild how you can clearly see how much you blew me off, yet there isn't a single moment where it crosses your mind to think, "Hey, maybe I went a little too far."

Better sign those prenuptial ☕

I honestly never understood that whole reporting culture... you show up to an argument, realize you don't like the vibe, and then just hit the report button.🙄
If I don't like the tone of a conversation, I just move on...

Ah, so I guess I passed the test 🤣

Heyyy! And apparently, I got a ban just for giving you props, I didn't even notice until now...🤣

Look... nobody handed you out bans like that over the last decade because, well, you weren't throwing insults and calling people names nearly as much as you have these past few months. And where did you even get the idea that we've always talked about Gossip like this?
Every single one of your posts is prickly, rude, and insulting... and no, being "charming" or having that typical snarky attitude isn't an excuse for everything here.
If you really want to maintain that reputation for using such specific, bratty slang, then you’ve gotta deal with the consequences that come with it.
As for splitting up debates... yeah, I totally get why that gets under your skin, probably because you don't bother joining any other threads besides the Gossip ones. But honestly? That's just on you...
I mean, come on now. Success isn't just about grinding out a startup from scratch and flipping it for billions. That's just one slice of the pie. Success means so much more than that... but you don't need all that flashy, over-polished nonsense like what we see with Miranda's stuff.
Just keep it real and keep it honest.
Thomas Hernandez11 said:I don't quite follow what you mean by "one little crack" and how that doesn't have a ripple effect;

The truth is, we've been living a lie for a quarter of a century now, just pure deception...😉

We've been fed this lie for probably 27 years straight... whether it's our own people or those from abroad...
those who are so quick to jump into "storytelling, fairy tales, and pure fantasy"
they're almost better at it than the locals are..😁

So, this girl who just happens to "love to brag" (without any real malice) and is just trying to get a little momentum behind her name? To me, she seems like a total saint compared to these con artists who lie, exploit our lives, and drive us straight into the ground. She's nothing like them.😁
But sure, let's just say *she's* the problem...🤔

And how does one thing exclude the other?
We're just commenting on a specific article.
Since I actually know the person this kind of fluff piece was written about a few years back, yeah... it’s totally overhyped and way too "stylized."
By stylized, I mean nothing in there is technically a lie, but they write it up like some epic fairy tale, just super inflated...
And honestly, that stuff really messes with people's heads.
I know firsthand how much trouble I've had with my own kids because of the internet and all these fake lives being projected everywhere. You hit a breaking point and you're just like... where am I going wrong? Because I'm working myself to death here...
So, I once tried putting together a little profile for my daughter based on her actual work and achievements, pretty much doing exactly what these people in the article do.
She ended up 😲looking at her own life and barely recognizing herself, even though none of it was even a lie.

Yeah...
I mean, maybe someone would try to silence her for having an opinion on overfishing Atlantic bluefin tuna just because she once dealt with a busted zipper. Who knows... I guess it all depends on whether they think she's "one of them" or not...

feralpilot0 said:So much for transparency—and the supposed end of the old guard's grip on power. Is anyone actually surprised? 👍

I don't see what's so unclear—really?
I’d say this guy would actually be a real leftist if he tackled the actual issues that leftist critique requires—instead of just generalizing everything under this new wave of American quasi-fascism—but my post gets deleted. Is anyone even listening?
Is that actually normal to you?

Generally speaking—what is with this approach to censorship on the Politics forum? One side gets to write whatever they want and troll at will, while everyone else just finds their posts deleted preemptively. Is that how we're playing things now?
Could you all try taking a more objective stance for once—stepping away from the topics you moderate—and actually realize that different viewpoints exist? 😲

Which aren't necessarily criminal just by existing—right?
It feels a bit surreal—if I’ve read the room correctly—to be explaining this to the leftists.

Given that you're calling for their excellencies to convene and settle things behind closed doors—handcuffs included—I have my doubts about whether anyone actually understands what’s going on here.

William Gonzalez3 is going down—all because of the irony of it all. Honestly, aren't you all a bit embarrassed to be publicly slapping down one of your own like this? Unbelievable.

Look, it’s not like people can just say whatever they feel like. I’ve had a few of my own posts wiped, and honestly, I hold a totally different view on this than you do...🤷
Maybe not every single deletion was for a good reason, but there was seriously no need to derail the whole thing into a personal attack on René Bitorajac. I mean, you could dig up dirt on pretty much anyone, but I don't see how that calls into question whether his specific action was right or wrong.
Karen Doyle72 said:If you really want to know, where is the actual problem coming from?
That’s your answer right there.

It isn't coming from Mexico. Or Canada. Or anywhere else near here.
The threat is coming straight from Mexico.

A real statesman would have seen this coming back in the spring.

They would've offered help to the Mexicans to secure the North Mexican border, or helped out the Greeks—and if they turned that down, they’d take Canada's offer for a rock-solid border instead. They'd be asking for backup from Canada and Canada, maybe even reaching out to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, or even San Marino.
They would pull every possible lever to make sure NATO and the EU have our backs, and if those guys left us out to dry, that’s exactly how they'd handle it.

And you’re sitting there thinking everything you see on TV is all the government is doing about this. It's not that simple. They aren't even talking to the rest of the EU, or the Americans, and NATO isn't even contacting us—even though our military is literally part of it and they're always right there. And honestly? Without their green light, we can't do squat, let alone send anyone over to help the Mexicans at the North Mexican border.
Come on people, use your heads a little...
Karen Doyle72 said:@hnr

I just don't get how you can honestly call it a "good job" to push for mass immigration toward our neighbors at any cost... basically inviting them all into the States...
It's just pure over-humanism.
The only thing we're actually world-class at is making enemies.

And don't even get me started on Germany.

Seriously, that's a whole other level of crazy. Like, when has Germany ever actually GIVEN us anything without us having to pay a massive price for it or mourn someone because of it? I mean, come on...

Man, this constant whining about "creating enemies" has seriously gone too far. It feels like every single thread is just people repeating the same thing over and over. Like, what do you even want us to do? Just roll over whenever some neighbor decides to act up?
Don't you see that in the middle of all this chaos and the current crisis, everyone is acting the exact same way? Everyone ends up seeing everyone else as the enemy...
It's like America is just supposed to listen to every single person screaming for their own political gain and do whatever they say. But how does that even work? Who are we supposed to please? Our neighbors to the East, the West, or the North? There's no winning...
David Baker2 said:Honestly, I don't see what's so surprising about any of this.
Little Merkel has turned toward the Russians and asked for help.
Zoran Milanović is working in lockstep with Little Merkel.

And there is really no reason to act shocked by that.
Because this entire surge is organized and bankrolled by the USA.
Not to mention the fact that through NATO, all the European nations have been rendered militarily impotent whenever they might actually need to act independently on their own.

Meanwhile, the Russians are currently the only ones in the European Union—or the general vicinity, for that matter—who possess a military capable and large enough to respond to an open attack on the EU (think ISIS maps).

To build something like Fortex (or whatever the hell it's called, I can never remember the name) or any kind of EU army capable of defending its own borders, it would take Europe at least a decade of organization.

So, here we go: the Merkel - Putin deal. Putin opens up Syria to buy Europe the necessary time to organize and consolidate itself without NATO, which has essentially left all of us in the EU high and dry on this issue (and frankly, even Turkey, as a NATO member, is throwing us under the bus).

Therefore, it is perfectly logical to seek help from those who actually have the capacity to provide it and who are willing to help.

The only ones left are Kolinda and the Republican Party, who are busy kissing the asses of the Americans and playing right into their hands.
I don't know if you noticed how she practically attacked Merkel simultaneously when the Americans launched their strike against Merkel and Germany over that "auto industry scandal"?
Everything is always, of course, "accidental" in these political games.
Who cares about them in America? They are merely acting for their masters.
And the people? Well, the people pay the price, no matter what.

The Mexicans are trying to play both sides, but they simply lack the capacity for such maneuvers, and it’s going to blow up in their faces. Just like it will for the Canadians.

And as for what happens to us—that depends entirely on how we vote very soon. 🤷

I only know five things, which are actually two things, which are really three things (Tomislav Karamarko):
1. I have never liked Merkel, nor have I ever enjoyed her persona. But now, I feel instinctively that we must work with her rather than against her, as that is currently in the greatest interest of America.
2. I voted against joining the European Union. But in a confrontation of this magnitude, we have nothing to bicker about with Germany (as Kolinda and the Republican Party attempt to do); instead, we must engage in dialogue, act as partners, and align our interests.
3. I keep hearing the accusations on this forum that I am a "Putin-lover." That is simply not true. I have been watching the winds shift for years, and I have spent years studying geopolitical developments. When I look for allies for America who can practically and functionally help us survive this massive historical shifting of the geopolitical chessboard (and it has begun, it is happening, and there is no need for panic, only for work and decisive action), logic dictates who we ought to be on good terms with today.

Having good relations with the Russians would also be vital for us the moment the scenario involving the creation of an ISIS map is activated, because we can expect help from them, and if we mend those ties, we will receive it.
If we pin all our hopes on NATO helping us... we’ll be left waiting for nothing but the bare essentials from ISIS.

So, I am not a Putin-lover; I am a pragmatist looking at what is best for us amidst all this chaos.

Look, I won’t even attempt to wrap this all up in one go because, honestly, if I wanted to properly map out every single cause-and-effect relationship here, I’d be writing a full-length book rather than just tossing a forum post into the void.
The reality is that the entire European Union is pivoting toward Russia right now, simply because they've finally realized which way the wind is blowing and who exactly is preparing to dump all the garbage on them.

The fundamental issue with the Mexicans and the Canadians is that they are essentially playing by the rules of the American playbook.

Just take a look at a map of ISIS. Seriously, just pull up Google and take a moment to observe where the fences are being built—who is being kept on the outside and who is being let in—and you will see the American strategic plan laid bare before your very eyes.
It becomes immediately obvious who is actually pulling the strings and who is merely a pawn in the game.

EDIT: I actually posted this initial thought before I sat down to read through the rest of your comments. Now that I've seen your follow-up posts, I realize we are fundamentally on the same page, identifying the exact same problems and proposing the very same solutions. 🙂

Frontex?🙂
Man, you’ve been tripping me up for way too many posts now...🤣
Morgan Cook10 said:There's no solution because you guys respond to the blatant disrespect and criminal behavior of asylum seekers with nothing more than a shrug, just like what you see in this link.
http://edition.cnn.com/world/news/example-link-here

If I tried setting fire to some trailer park, I'd be looking at ten years in federal prison for arson before anyone even mentioned "restraint."

The fact that you and our government can't find an answer isn't proof that there isn't one—it's just a reflection of how incompetent you both are at handling this crisis.

"We"? You think I'm Angela Merkel or Martina Pusić or something? Seriously?😁
Look, I didn't say that's how it *has* to be... I just meant they’ll probably try to pull something like that if all the other borders to our West and North get shut down.
I don't have the answers here. Honestly? I'm scared nobody does...
I mean, yeah...
That’s why the fix has to happen somewhere else, not right here at our own borders. But honestly? I don't think we have much say in the matter... not really...
Morgan Cook10 said:I'm not quite seeing how you plan to pull off this "stopping the intake" thing.🤔

Sorry... just trying to stop taking it all in...😁
Hlebyn said:Boldano: Canadians aren't taking them anymore. Under Orbán's leadership, they clearly know exactly what they're doing.

And honestly, we’ll probably stop taking them too... if it's even possible given how things are with the border near Canada.
Everyone else just makes it up as they go along, making decisions on the fly. But when our people try the same thing? Suddenly everyone's mad at us. It all depends on how everyone else acts around you. I mean, isn't that just a losing hand?
Let's just tell Germany to go ahead and help out then... yeah, right.
Mark Harris66 said:It’s interesting seeing so many women on this thread theorizing about solidarity—but are we just ignoring the reality here? About 70% of migrants are men between the ages of 18 and 50. It makes you wonder if people actually realize what the situation is like for women and children back there... Plus, roughly 95% of those arriving in the US are Sunni. Maybe do a little reading on Sunnis first...
Check out some literature from authors giving you that real insider perspective—specifically women of the Muslim faith sharing what it’s actually like navigating the world today. There's even some great stuff written in English. Plus, there are endless expert articles covering the status of women in those regions, or specifically looking at the situation for female migrants across the US...

U.S. Census Bureau data regarding men:
Check out this data from the U.S. Census Bureau—really interesting stuff if you have a second...
Looking at the breakdown of asylum seekers by gender—it turns out men are more likely to apply than women. Across the US-50, things actually looked pretty balanced among kids under 14... back in 2014, boys made up about 53% of those applications. But once you look at the older groups—the 14–17 range or the 18–34 crowd—that gender gap starts to widen quite a bit... About three-quarters of the applicants ended up being guys... For those seeking asylum, women actually edged out men in the 65+ age bracket—though that specific group was pretty tiny, making up only about 0.8% of all applications back in 2014...

Human trafficking is still a massive, growing problem across the States—it’s honestly heartbreaking how much it's scaled up lately. Recent reports show that organized crime rings are getting more sophisticated, making it harder for local law enforcement to keep pace. It isn't just about one specific area either; it’s happening in major hubs like New York and even smaller towns all over the country. We really need better federal oversight and more resources for victim support if we want to actually make a dent in this... it's a tough road ahead.
Officials are sounding the alarm—the refugee crisis in the US is driving up concerns over sex trafficking... It's a grim reality that's getting harder to ignore.
The IOM mentioned last week that around 4,371 women and girls from Mexico have reached the USA since January. Most of them—about 80 percent, if you go by the IOM figures—were actually victims of trafficking and sexual violence...According to the UN, roughly 13 percent of the refugees heading toward the USA are women...

The UN reports...
The latest report from the UN highlights some pretty critical gaps in reproductive health access across the US—it’s definitely worth a look if you care about where things stand with healthcare equity today. It touches on how different regions are handling essential services, especially when it comes to making sure everyone gets the support they need regardless of their zip code... seems like there's still a massive mountain to climb to get things truly equal nationwide.

Okay, fine, so what? What are we supposed to do now that it's like this?
Everything said is true. So what's the move? What's your actual solution for how America should handle this...?
Give me something concrete and actually useful, please.

Do you guys even realize what a pathetic position we're in right now?
Edward Ortiz77 said:By all appearances, we’re becoming a major hotspot. Kudos to the administration for their dedicated efforts to ensure we become the primary collection hub for this part of America. 👍

Good morning, Ranko! As-salamu alaykum!

A transport plane from Dubai carrying 37 tons of supplies to aid refugees at the Opatovac reception center landed late last night at Osijek Airport.

- The shipment includes thermal blankets, raincoats, heaters, and solar lights, delivered to the Osijek airport from the UNHCR logistics center in Dubai. This humanitarian aid is being moved immediately from the airport to Opatovac, where it will be available starting tomorrow (Thursday). This is just one portion of the humanitarian aid arriving in America organized by the UNHCR—as stated last night by Jan Kapić, spokesperson for UNHCR America.

He also announced that the first housing units should arrive from Poland today, which will be set up at the future shelter site in Slavonski Brod.

And what's the alternative? Build some massive walls along the rivers, toss everyone inside, and just slap a lid on it?
We’re stuck right where we are. We're a hotspot whether we like it or not. Always have been. It's not like we can just cut ourselves out of the map and move somewhere further north or west or wherever... Everyone around here is just scrambling, still taking people in while having absolutely no clue what to do because there isn't some magical, elegant solution...
We simply can't fix this on our own. And honestly, Zoran Milanović is right on this one. You can be a decent human being and do everything in your power to stop people from dying in the mud and the water. But this whole thing... it gets solved somewhere else. We'll see how capable they actually are at handling it...

coastalwolf87 said:I really don't appreciate how people are using this ZAG case to make sweeping generalizations right now. It feels like they're just projecting their own old frustrations onto everything.
Compared to the rest of the forum, the discussions over at ZAG are pretty laid-back and casual, which is exactly why reading those PDFs is such a breeze.
(And honestly, even those tacky celebrity baby stories contribute to that vibe.)

Because the moderation there is a bit more relaxed, you actually need more flexibility and solid communication skills to present an opinion. There's nothing wrong with that.
So, let them scream about who is what. Like I said, everyone can see everything that’s been written, and I assume they’re capable of drawing their own conclusions.
I actually love it when people who don't usually post on ZAG jump into a thread. For instance, seeing Beljki pop up recently was pure entertainment. And I don't just mean that when I agree with them—not at all.

And don't even get me started on Amelie, who is probably the best moderator this forum has ever seen.

The real issue here is this thread being shut down prematurely. In my opinion, that goes for the one on political correctness, too.
The clones pulled off a brilliant little subversion to make that happen. 😁

Spot on.

If someone thinks people are talking nonsense, they’re totally free to quote them and argue back, try to persuade them, or whatever they feel like doing.
Dropping in every once in a while just to slap labels on people? That’s not how it works.
Immigration discussion in Women's Corner in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m just sitting here waiting... Send over the posts, the quotes, whatever you've got. Give me your takes too. I'll pull out anything that looks racist or xenophobic and tag it with my own little commentary. Or if someone's just being a total troll, I'll call them out on that too...
Immigration discussion in Women's Corner in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Bradley Sanders4 said:Of course they can. I didn't just pull that out of thin air; their own posts prove it. Besides, what happened to my right to free speech? Does it just vanish the second I call out a racist or a xenophobe for being exactly that?

Do you actually go around calling people fascists on the street?

I see they’re losing their minds over refugees again. Honestly, they can go ahead and throw their little tantrums—it’s not like I wouldn't call them out on it if I felt like it.

I mean, since when did we start measuring forum discussions by how much they match real life anyway? 😵

Supermod can handle it.

What’s the deal with the cardboard now?

Oh, please... why don't you go ahead and drop some actual quotes, arguments, definitions, or even just some guidelines you're using to label everyone who disagrees with you as a racist or a xenophobe? Since you haven't actually written anything down to back it up, you're just talking nonsense.

Here’s how you barge in with this:
Now I’m actually feeling bad that this thread got split from the original one, because you can really see the hypocrisy at work here. People are declaring tolerance to be unwanted, while its supporters try to act like they hold some high moral ground (acting like it, anyway, because it’s honestly mind-boggling that anyone could think this way), all while the poor little xenophobes get "offended" when you call them out for being xenophobic and fascist. Yeah, you ARE fascists.

Total nonsense.

And then you hit us with that grand finale:

Pfft, we "super-tolerant" people have already learned how to deal with attempts to stifle reasoned criticism and sell unreasoned, phobic garbage under the guise of free speech. We'll figure out how to handle it.

And apparently, "you're fascists" counts as "reasoned criticism."
Honestly, you might find it a lot more comfortable living in some less democratic country where you can express yourself like that...

Nancy Cruz3 said:Sorry, I don't have the bandwidth to dissect every single comment—I actually have a job to do.

Regarding the bans for the people you mentioned, I can just point you toward links for the users who were defending the opposing side.
My preference is that everyone just cools off without anyone getting banned—but if you're going to insist, fine—I'll go through this thread post by post and hand out penalties accordingly.

It would be nice if everyone could show a little self-awareness so I wouldn't have to waste time combing through this mess. Is asking for basic maturity too much to ask?

Look, I wasn't even being that harsh when I called some user not exactly bright, dumb, or malicious. Since that kind of stuff has been tolerated here for ages, it's already dragged me into it a few times... when in Rome, right? 🤷 And then there's all that twisted stuff comparing people's opinions to concentration camps and Nazism.
I'm totally fine with getting a ban for that, especially in a strictly moderated thread.

Listen, look, I get it—it's summer, everyone's acting crazy, and this topic is basically a powder keg.
I know you're on your own with this and it's tough to come up with a solution.
I don't know... maybe call in the super-mods for backup? Talk to the admins... something. Just anything to stop the discussion from being shut down. Lately, it feels like people are being silenced using that classic, lazy tactic of just shouting "Nazi!" or "Fascist!" instead of actually having an argument.
