Boring, boring, boring.

Honestly, this was one of the most tedious movies I've sat through lately. Like, I truly cannot wrap my head around how a flick starring Brad Pitt in a skirt—with decent fight scenes and a halfway okay script—can be so incredibly DULL.

Look, I don't really care that they didn't stick to the mythology. Fine, they wanted to make a "realistic" take without all the gods and stuff... but man, the sheer amount of pro-American cheesiness, the "deep" quotes, those "heartbreaking" moments... It's horrible. My friend actually told me she was just waiting for someone to pull out an American flag and plant it in the ruins of burned-down Troy.

None of the characters are even well-written, except maybe Hector. Achilles is a total psycho-freak, Agamemnon is just a fat pig, and Odysseus is basically his errand boy! I mean, hey, Odysseus—the smartest, craftiest guy in all of Greece—is reduced to a sidekick?

I just don't get it. How do you manage to make a movie this boring when I wasn't even expecting much from it to begin with?

So, what’s the verdict? Are we actually gonna have an SW forum here? Like, what’s the move if we want to make it happen?

this movie is just incredible. honestly, I think this is my third time sitting through it and it cracks me up every single time!
Guy is such a legend! "Didn't you guys ever watch the show? Now they're gonna turn mean and ugly and have big teeth..." and then literally five seconds later 😁 he he
but seriously, he’s the best chief out there 😁 man, that expression though. when he gives that goofy little grin right before teleporting Rock to a "tiny" little green guy 😁 absolute perfection. This movie is pure gold.

I am ALL IN!!!
Look, they wouldn't even be in business—and honestly, they'd probably be making a killing—if they didn't have people lining up to rent stuff from them. To me, the real idiots aren't just the ones paying for some garbage movie, but the folks who actually thought of it in the first place. I mean, why on earth would you pay money for something filmed in a theater without subtitles? You've gotta be pretty clueless to drop cash on a flick like that. I've got a bunch of those sitting around at my place, but I haven't touched them once. I'd much rather just rent something decent from Netflix.

😁 And then there's the trip... yeah, the trip... I'm vibing, totally vibing... And then I just pass out right in the middle of the hotel lobby. 😁 Man, I'm just vibing. 😁 haha

I don't know, man... personally, I don't think David Lynch is quite on that level where he deserves the top spot. Honestly? I'd take Pedro Almodovar, who's sitting at number 15, over him any day of the week.
Femme Fatale in Movies ·
I didn't even hit up the theater or rent it; I just caught it on DivX, but honestly, I’m so glad I did just for that hilarious bit where Anthony plays a gay Mexican guy! 😁 Everything else was pretty decent.
Melissa Moore32 said:BTW, did you get it on tape or DVD? I heard the DVD actually has a trailer for "Cowboy Bebop - Movie" on there. 😳

Looks like the US market is finally starting to open up for these Eastern films. 😁

Yeah, there's a trailer for the CB movie on the DVD.

Douglas Robinson12 said:Aside from Boiler Room, it's probably Vin Diesel's best film.

Eto, now I know one more that won't be a complete waste of time 😁.

To me, The Returner doesn't feel like some B-movie production at all. Honestly, I was surprised because I'd never even heard of it, but it's actually good. You could put it up against any major Hollywood flick. The ending felt a little weird to me, but hey, we're dealing with a time paradox here, so I guess it works. If you're into sci-fi, just watch it. I actually liked how (since we were watching the Japanese version) they throw in bits of Chinese, English, whatever people speak in Tibet... It adds a layer of realism when it isn't just constant Japanese. Plus, if you've seen enough anime, 🙂 you can usually tell exactly when they switch languages.

fadedsailor932 said:It's kind of a remake of an old movie.

Is that the one where they're racing to find buried treasure, which was marked with a big capital W 😁 , and everyone ends up running in circles in the park? 😁 I loved that movie. Totally forgot the title though.
So, over the last few days, I grabbed three movies from the local rental place just because I was bored and felt like I’d already seen everything else out there. Honestly, I figured they were gonna be total garbage, but they actually turned out to be pretty decent and worth watching.

That’s why I’m starting this thread—kind of a spot where we can tell each other, "Hey, that movie was actually okay despite the hideous cover art or the cast being totally unknown." It happens to me all the time; I go to the video store, see some flick I’ve never even heard of, and it feels like such a gamble since 99% of the time it ends up being a total glupost.

Alright, so first up is that Japanese SF Returner, which seriously has the worst cover art I've seen in ages. Just some orange and blue mess with him standing there holding a gun... gross. You look at it and just assume the movie is gonna be just as awful. But nope—it’s actually a solid SF film with good effects, very much in that classic Hong Kong kung-fu style, a decent plot, and overall, just a good flick.

The second one was Knockaround Guys. I only picked that one up because of Vin Diesel 😁. I mean, even if the movie is dumb, at least I get to stare at Vin Diesel's ass for a while 😁. And honestly, the movie isn't nearly the glupost I thought it would be. It’s a perfectly fine way to kill a few hours when whatever is on TV is completely unwatchable.

Thirdly, Rat Raca—a comedy with an amazing cast, some really hilarious bits, and let's be real, John Cleese and Mr. Bean are always my absolute favorites. 😁

Eto, those are just a few movies that actually beat my super low expectations.

Drop your non-disappointing movie picks below so I don't end up wandering into the video store like a headless chicken!

Aren't they just brilliant? Seriously, I find myself hitting up that site every single day.

Yeah... honestly, I’ve spent way too much time at the office just totally zoning out. They have some seriously killer sales going on right now. 😁

And pretty soon, you’ve got this guy showing up—the dad of that little Indian girl. We're gonna call him Apu from now on, just like that dude from the Simpsons who runs the local 7-Eleven.
👍 👍 👍
Haha, yeah, that was pretty much our first take on him too. 😁

So, my brother finally sat down and watched it, and honestly? He and his girlfriend actually liked it. She’s this super devout Christian girl who basically has the Bible memorized, and he’s the type of guy who never watches anything unless it’s sitting in the action section at Blockbuster. But hey, even they thought it wasn't half bad. There are definitely people out there who just want one solid, high-octane shootout to call a movie "cool," and I guess they fit that bill. Still, even they're saying M2 and M3 don't even come close to the original Matrix.
Hey, just dropping a little something here to kill some time and lighten the mood—here's a link about The Matrix.

I mean, yeah, I'll give them this: Animatrix is solid—like, at least five of those shorts hit the spot. But honestly? It’s really just for the animation nerds and people obsessed with anime. Since I'm into that stuff, I dig it. But the game? Total nonsense. You basically have to already be a hardcore gamer, own a PlayStation or something, and just happen to care about it existing in the first place. They basically ignored a huge chunk of the population with that move.

Face it, dude, they're just milking everybody like cows!

I’ve pretty much decided to just scrub Reloaded from my memory entirely. I'd rather just pretend it was the end of Galvatron's whole thing where everyone ends up a robot anyway. 😁
Heh, wouldn't they like that? Maybe there's still some secret fix tucked away in the official Matrix branded VR headsets, t-shirts, or coffee mugs?

He he, and then you've got thematrixonline, where die-hard fans will go looking for answers to basic questions for like 50 bucks a month 😁
Honestly, this was easily my biggest Star Wars letdown since the last franchise reboot.

Man.

A total disaster.

Just your run-of-the-mill, basic action flick trying to hawk some cheap, messy religious nonsense.

I was seriously hoping this movie would tie everything together, you know? Like, maybe find some middle ground for all those disagreements from the first two films, or come up with actual logical, smart answers to all those massive questions we were left with after Reloaded. But what did they actually do? They just give us some crisis involving Christ and Neo—played by Will Smith, I guess?—and then they both just head straight to hell, taking my respect and admiration for the original trilogy right along with them.

Go ahead and hunt for things that aren't there if you want. You can try to explain Morpheus, the French guy, the Architect, the Oracle, and everyone else however you like; you can go looking for deep, hidden meanings just like half the internet forums have been doing for the last six months. Sure, you’ll probably find *something*, but there isn't much in this movie besides whatever our overactive imaginations decide to project onto it.

Like someone already said, they had an idea, but they had zero clue how to actually use it.

I've read better endings to the Matrix online that had way more imagination, energy, and symbolism than what I saw at the theater yesterday.

I'm just so disappointed. Look, I'm not a "believer," and I can't just swallow garbage just because it's wrapped in pretty packaging. I value logic, intelligence, and common sense. I don't buy into miracles or god-given saviors.
Maybe that's why I can't "believe" in this movie. There's about as much logic in it as there is in flying bricks.
Now this is a total horror story in Movies ·
Haha, I bet I'm not the only one who’s had some weird stuff happen after watching that movie. 🙂

So, me and this watching boy are checking out The Ring, and I mean, it’s not terrible or anything, but honestly? It’s nothing special either. Like, the original version had way more going for it, for sure.
So, we just moved recently, and like, maybe two people actually have our new number. But honestly, everyone always just calls my cell anyway, nobody ever touches the landline.
Just finished watching The Ring, like, around midnight. The whole apartment building is dead silent around me. I hit the button to eject the VCD, the room goes dark for a split second, and then—bam—the phone rings! 😁 Midnight!
Then you've got my buddy, who—of course, because he’s just that guy—decided that exact night was the perfect time to mess around with his phone settings and change his voice.
Just picture this: it’s pitch black, middle of the night, you just finished watching The Ring, and suddenly the phone rings. Then some creepy, dead voice on the other end starts chanting your name over and over... "Mare... Mare... Mare..."

I wasn't really feeling that movie when I first saw it, honestly. Just kind of meh. But then he called me? Yeah, now it’s actually great. Totally changed my mind. 😁

I can't believe I'm even saying this, but names have been changed just to keep things private. 😁 >
Anime Recommendations in Movies ·
Anyone know where I can pick up some Rotten Tomatoes around here?

I was looking into ordering them off Amazon, but by the time you factor in all the sales tax and those crazy shipping fees, it ends up costing more than a mortgage and a new car.

Surely there’s an Anime fanbase out there somewhere... maybe we could all just team up on a DL site or something.
The first The Matrix was just written so perfectly. It was crafted so well and brought so much innovation to the movie world that it felt almost impossible to top. Every single detail was obsessed over—every scene, every color choice, even the tiniest little background element, all the way down to the special effects. After that first one, every action flick started looking like a pale imitation of the original. You saw references to it everywhere, and honestly, over the last few years, I feel like hardly any movie or show has come out without at least one Matrix association.
And now you guys are actually expecting us to get another "groundbreaking" masterpiece?
Everyone expected something massive from The Matrix Reloaded, but everyone had a different idea of what that meant, so naturally, nobody got what they were looking for, which explains why people are so bummed out everywhere. I was disappointed too. Then I watched it again. And then again. And I watched The Animatrix. And after every viewing, I just end up with more questions, getting more intrigued about what’s going to go down in the final part. From the fact that they aren't actually free to make their own choices (how??) to the way The Architect spends the whole time talking about how The One's existence is basically engineered... there are just too many unanswered questions in the second film. But when you piece those together with the stories from The Animatrix, you get this incredibly complex composition. It isn't this perfectly polished package like the first The Matrix was; it's more like a complicated "organism" that's growing and evolving, and none of us really know what it's eventually going to turn into.
The Wachowski sibling duo proved they're such perfectionists that they won't be able to tie everything up perfectly in the final chapter. Personally, I've decided to just trust that they won't let me down with how this story ends.
Who knows, though? Maybe they will. Maybe the whole thing turns out to be total bullshit in the end. But I'm still going to watch it, because let's face it, these are the Star Wars of our era—the kind of films people are going to be talking about for a long, long time.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Honestly, Celest would’ve been perfect for me because my migraines are just brutal. Once I started on them, everything cleared up—not a single headache since. No weird side effects either, at least for those first few months. But then, after four or five months, I just went totally numb toward sex. Like, my libido completely tanked. It was honestly awful. So I’ve actually stopped taking them for a bit, just so I can get back to my "normal" daily mood swings.
