I suppose one might wonder if it's even worth the electricity bill, running a download at those speeds just to grab a movie😬

Maybe I should just send over a screenshot of my monthly utility statement instead.😁

I honestly can't fathom how anyone manages to endure that on a daily basis; it's just frankly terrible, for the most part.
1. I suppose if someone chooses to enter a rehab facility, it doesn't necessarily follow that they are there solely for detox purposes; in certain instances, seeking treatment at an out-of-state facility might just be a way to partially bypass our local legal system.

2. Furthermore, if a person decides to leave a recovery program, one shouldn't automatically assume it was due to substance use; if you lock someone up who has never even touched drugs, how can anyone possibly predict whether they'll attempt to run away?
Nancy Ward37 said:That simply isn't true, and the fact that your friend ran off just to get high is a completely different issue altogether...

God, you are seriously getting on my nerves 😠

I suppose it’s hard to grasp, but when you're 3108 miles stuck at home all day, there is at least one thing in life worth just forgetting about,
Nancy Ward37 said:The communities I’m referring to don't receive any government funding, and even if they did, I suppose it's hard to say how much money would actually be necessary to make them personally beneficial. I also find it a bit strange that you're talking about locking people up and how those programs might fail.

Yeah, sure, my friend went off for treatment near Barcelona, and the old folks there just drained him of every cent he had...

A typical day for therapy in Spain: 6:30 AM wake up and prayer, 7:00 AM breakfast, work until 1:00 PM, lunch, prayer, work until 7:00 PM, dinner, prayer, then sleep.
To make matters worse, he wasn't allowed to talk to anyone, except for strictly necessary conversations; apparently, that privilege was reserved only for those who had been there for several years already.

The guy escaped the first time, but he didn't really have anywhere to go, so he just wandered around Barcelona. He managed to escape successfully a second time, came back here, found a job and an apartment, and I guess he's doing okay now.

And all of that costs money.

I suppose if that's the case, how exactly does it happen when people pass away following an alcohol-induced seizure related to epilepsy?
I suppose I can't say for certain, but what if someone were to pass away without access to therapy after having been on a 10 mg daily dose of dopamine
What I’m reading here is a textbook example of someone who doesn't know the first thing about drug use beyond what they pick up in a headline, and frankly, that kind of superficial understanding does absolutely nothing to address the actual crisis.

I suspect you probably have a kid at home who comes back high, and you just look the other way because you likely believe that a person under the influence is somehow beyond control or incapable of being held accountable.
A question for Nancy Ward37: have you ever actually had any kind of visual contact with drugs?
Hannah Davis18 said:You also overlooked former athletes.

I suppose I was actually thinking more along the lines of people who have been sober.🤣 🤣
Hannah Davis18 said:Of course I’m not going to support any organizations that happen to be anti-smoking; anything that reeks of being exclusionary makes me want to run for the hills.
Number two; every single heroin addict didn't necessarily start out with a joint; though people might try to convince you otherwise until the day they die; everyone in the community knows how it actually works.
Besides, it isn't as if I haven't experimented with various substances myself; and frankly, it certainly didn't lead me down the path to addiction.
Theft and prostitution aren't really what drug dealers are focused on; but perhaps if you actually opened your eyes, you might learn something new.

I agree

And even the idea that you can just spot every addict at a glance is obviously not true.

Plus, there are plenty of addicts—meaning actual users, not just occasional ones—who exist within "high society," such as doctors, lawyers, and so on.
Nancy Ward37 said:I am honestly concerned that you don't have a clue what you're talking about. That slippery slope you're describing leads straight to heroin without any effort at all. It’s common knowledge even to someone on the street that heroin addicts start there. This isn't just some theory; it's an established fact. I’m not trying to judge those people—I actually think they need help—but I simply cannot take this kind of nonsense seriously.

Look, I've personally been in those circles, and I've seen how drugs have completely destroyed many people close to me.

Of course, drugs have very few redeeming qualities, but I suppose I am just searching for a bit of objectivity here, so that people might realize that alcohol isn't exactly a lesser destroyer than some of the lighter substances.

It is true that most addicts likely started with a joint, but if you consider the data showing that 70% of American youth have tried marijuana, it would seem that they should all be heavy addicts by now, which clearly isn't the case.
It’s practically taboo for anyone outside that specific social circle

The other day, someone mentioned a woman who had collapsed on the ground... "She must be on drugs, for sure," they said
I didn't really feel like getting into an explanation about how it was probably just alcohol

I suppose socially acceptable and legal habits are often much more destructive than the illegal ones

So, I guess it's perfectly fine to show up to work at a place like FedEx on Monday and casually mention you were drinking all through Friday and Saturday; nobody really bats an eye if you're still hungover by Wednesday
But if some guy smokes ten cigarettes on a Saturday and wakes up feeling refreshed on Sunday, suddenly that's a problem—that's "drugs"—whereas alcohol is somehow better🙄

The government collects its highest tax revenue from alcohol and cigarettes, so I imagine it isn't surprising that they sell low-quality junk while keeping the public uninformed

"Can I get a Bud Light, buddy?"

And the whole country laughs

"Can I get a joint, buddy?"

And the entire nation recoils🙄

It feels as though if there isn't enough capital to go around, the blame is simply shifted onto them.

This isn't actually my own quote, 😁

Kimberly Moore90 said:I am talking about how dealers prey on kids who don't have the slightest clue what’s good or bad for them yet—they haven't even developed a real sense of what they want or don't want. Dealers target them... In my apartment building, there's an unwritten rule—ever since I moved in, you won't find a single dealer even on the next block over! 👍

No dealer ever just shows up at someone's door offering drugs; people seek them out themselves.

And if you want to talk about what kind of sales the government used to fund weapons during wartime,
I suppose it might be reasonable to suggest they set aside at least a tiny fraction of those funds for basic infrastructure, maybe just for twenty square feet of space.
Like, the cost of insulin is absolutely extortionate, yet in Cleveland they build fountains worth thousands, $0.00 and in Indianapolis they put in heated sidewalks in the town square—not to mention all that stuff done just to win pre-election campaigns—so, I guess you tell me who the foolish one is here.

And what are you, some sort of self-appointed enforcer of justice like Walker or something?

amberorca192 said:That isn't actually how it works. I believe Madeleine Albright (correct me if I'm wrong) recently hosted a few segments where she invited public figures to open up about their struggles with drug addiction. I know for certain that Paola Valić was one of the guests, though I can't quite recall who the others were.

Bare, honestly, even if you think Valicka is impressive, I doubt she's ever seen anything like it in her entire life.

I’m a little late to this discussion, but I suppose I should weigh in. In a city like Cleveland, there are places similar to that drug user community over in Terra where you can pick up free supplies, condoms, and that sort of thing. Every user is registered under a specific code, I guess, just so they can keep track of the statistics. Generally speaking, people tend to gather there without much trouble—you don't see a lot of fighting or threats once you're actually inside the facility. The real issues usually happen out on the sidewalk in front of a nearby "Nine," where everyone ends up congregating just to smoke outside.😬
