Are you actually planning on ordering those cakes?
Fear, my date is September 11th... and everyone keeps telling me it’s best to show up around the third or fourth month... just make sure to book an appointment ahead of time. Apparently, every bakery has a specific capacity they aren't supposed to exceed... I mean, they technically could, but they won't
If you ask me, I wouldn't even bother putting a dessert spread on the tables since hardly anyone touches them... but good luck trying to explain that to my mom. "What kind of wedding is it without sweets?" she says. Honestly, give me a break.
As for the cost... they told me at Sweet Secret that a cake for about 200 people would run around $833... meanwhile, over at Emma, they quoted me somewhere between 10-$4.00 per slice. Regarding the other pastries, Emma has $30... and I completely blanked on how much they were charging at Sweet Secret, maybe .
Donna Chase12, I really am... both places make incredible cookies and cakes alike. Honestly, all my friends had their wedding cakes from Sweet Secret, but we always pick up our birthday treats from EM... so I’m genuinely torn here.
And as for what people are saying... please, don't even get me started. At this point, I'll be thrilled if we "only" end up with 230 guests.
I’m currently torn between getting pastries from Sweet Secret in Sugar Land or picking something up from Emma over in Columbus...
I’ve been crunching the numbers on how much dessert I actually need... since I don’t plan on sharing, I was thinking about putting two decent-sized pastries on every single table in the hall (which works out to about 4.5 pounds). That would mean ordering roughly 120 pounds of sweets total... and honestly, just thinking about it is already making me feel a bit overwhelmed.
So, I stopped by EMA on Friday... and regarding the dessert trays, if you're using them, they weigh $30 pounds each if there's more than 35 lbs of food on there. Also, the lady didn't mention anything about having to return those same trays...
I also checked in on the wedding cake situation... a single slice would be roughly $4.00 dollars, though honestly, the price really just depends on the total guest count.
Joshua Miller27, a friend of mine picked up a wedding gown at a boutique in California—it was her first time wearing it, and she actually had a custom fitting done there too. It ended up costing her about $500. Meanwhile, when she looked at the exact same dress here in Washington, D.C., they were quoting her $4333..
William Parker61 said:I have begun testing cake options for the wedding. My shortlist currently includes about ten different bakeries. The first was Emma's shop in Smalltown, USA, where the sweets cost $33 per pound. These cakes are loaded with margarine, which is completely unacceptable to me...
What kind of $33 are we even talking about here??
I was actually there about a month ago, and the owner told me that a kilo of treats goes for $28, assuming they serve them on trays $30..
Come on guys, let's not blow things out of proportion.
It’s not just that I don't want the burden of kneading dough and assembling a whole cake myself; it's that I have zero desire to risk poisoning anyone. First off, I have no idea where I'd store all those treats, second, I don't even have the oven space to bake them all, and third, when on earth would I find the time to pull that off?
Honestly, the much more cost-effective move is to just pick up some pastries somewhere and pay professionals to handle it. That way, if they mess anything up, I actually have someone to hold accountable. If I did it my way, the only thing I'd be doing is sticking my head straight into the cake.
So, I could really use some insight here... what should I expect from this mess?
I just received the police report regarding a multi-car pileup I was involved in today. Here’s the kicker: I actually came to a full stop, but the car directly in front of me slammed into the one ahead of it, which then recoiled right into my bumper. To make matters worse, that car also smashed into the vehicle in front of *it*.
Look, I'll admit I'm at fault for not maintaining enough following distance... I get that. But the guy in front of me didn't even brake—his brake lights never even flashed. Honestly, I'm just glad I did stop when I did.
The report states that both I and the driver in front of me violated Section 51, Subsection 1 of the traffic safety code. Strangely, they haven't mentioned anything regarding the third driver in the chain. So, yeah...
The problem is, there are a bunch of inconsistencies in this report...
1. There is absolutely no description of how the accident actually unfolded.
2. It claims the scene was photographed, but no photos were taken.
3. It says the vehicles were moved after the investigation was completed, but that's not true. We cleared the cars immediately because we were causing a massive traffic jam on the highway.
What's my next move? Should I wait to be summoned to traffic court, or should I start drafting an appeal against the report right now?
Please help... I've never dealt with anything like this before. Thanks.

I picked up some cookies from them for Christmas and they were honestly fantastic. I also ordered a cake for my dad's birthday; they actually messed up the order by making it smaller than what I asked for, but I have to give them credit—they made up for it by throwing in seven extra slices for free. Honestly, those extra pieces were worth more than the difference in price for the larger cake I originally wanted...
