Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
So, I actually went to see the doctor to bother them with this list of questions... if I go specifically to the clinic, I’m bringing a whole list with me 🙂.
But I moved from the States to Austria, so my English isn't great, and honestly, what am I even going to ask the doctor when even my husband can't quite follow what I'm saying...
. Anyway, here comes the question:
I’ve been taking Celest for a long time and never had any side effects, but I started back up on them about a year ago.
Basically, after months of absolute torture at the gym, I realized something was off. First off, genetically, I'm not the type to put on weight easily. Second, dieting hasn't helped at all, and for heaven's sake, with how much I work out, I should be looking lean, but instead, I just want to scream...
In just one year, I’ve gained 5 kg. It wouldn't even be such a big deal if it hadn't gone straight to my chest and stomach—today I was shopping for a D-cup bra, whereas a year ago I was barely a C. I just feel "bloated" overall, though I don't have any issues with my mental health or my periods. I don't even have cellulite (though since I lift heavy at the gym, if I do have it, you wouldn't notice because my legs are so toned)...
Question: what does water retention actually look like?
Second, is the weight gain caused by these types of pills the same as the kind of weight gain seen in people who overeat and don't move much?
And naturally, can girls gain weight gradually, or does it have to happen suddenly? (I've been reading endless forum threads about this...)
And how do I mitigate this... maybe taking vitamin or mineral supplements...
Thanks, and greetings from Austria
.
Oh, and one more thing: I'm allergic to condoms (specifically the lubricant), and since I haven't given birth, I can't use an IUD, so I'm stuck with the pill for another year because getting pregnant is strictly off the table...

Reading through these posts is enough to trigger a full-blown migraine...
why?...
Every single year we enroll about 80 new fashion design students. A third of them actually graduate, and out of that third, maybe ten go into the industry. And every single one of them—without exception—focuses exclusively on designing for skinny models. 🤷
If you look at anthropometric data—even just glancing at partial statistics—it’s clear that women are generally developing more substantial builds. Beyond just genetics, you have diet and sedentary lifestyles playing a massive role. Even just walking around downtown, you can see the ratio of thin women to fuller-figured women has shifted significantly compared to the 80s, leaning heavily toward higher weights.
All my friends with curvier figures complain about the exact same thing: there’s nowhere to actually shop. And when they do find somewhere—I'm thinking of those high-end boutiques in places like Beverly Hills or SoHo—the prices are astronomical. They end up being forced into catalog shopping from places like Lands' End or whatever...

I really need to open my own boutique...

oh, and... I'm curious, what's your biggest struggle?

My only real issue is that my office is perched right up on the hill by Ribbon... just imagine what it'd be like trying to drive up there on a 10% grade.

There’s this one woman out in San Francisco who makes these incredible cakes. It’s not just that they taste amazing... they look absolutely flawless, almost like they were sketched out perfectly. Everything is precise to the millimeter.
The price is roughly $23 per pound, but honestly, it’s worth every cent.
Her treats have been the highlight at every wedding, baptism, or corporate event I’ve attended... easily the best I've ever had.
If anyone’s interested, just drop a thumbs up below and I’ll reach out to my niece to get her contact info for you.

I find myself browsing their websites quite often... they have an excellent section there...
Q&A session where the doctor provides the answers... since that’s how things have been lately...
Thinking about making a change... honestly, I'm just fed up with my current situation at work. It’s a private firm, too, which doesn't help matters... just feeling pretty dissatisfied lately...
Maybe I'll set up an appointment to get everything reviewed... and run a few more searches through their system...
If anyone's actually been there before... maybe they could share what it was like...

I found her on the internet too...
I’ve dealt with massive setbacks lately... mostly stemming from sheer incompetence, pure laziness, or just plain old physical pain. It’s been a mess trying to navigate my own healthcare, especially when you factor in the high costs of seeing a private gynecologist versus the struggles with socialized medicine... everything just feels like an uphill battle.
I finally hit my breaking point. I broke down in tears and called her... and then, just like that, I got the actual diagnosis on the very same day. After three years of pure, unadulterated torture... I finally have an answer. I even paid for it myself. $400 Through all the rough patches and the constant testing... but honestly, it was worth it.

I'm wondering if there are any other ways to treat this besides surgery—maybe some kind of alternative method? I really, really don't want to go under the knife...

What kind? If it's just fluid buildup, birth control pills can sometimes manage that.
Either way, you should definitely seek a second opinion... don't try to be your own doctor.

Sophia Cook4 said:I know a gynecologist over at the Peenica Community Health Center, Tanjica Pavlek.
She works through the insurance system, but she takes private patients too. An exam will cost you $50, though everything else—prescriptions, referrals, that whole bit—goes through your health insurance. And honestly, there’s NO NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. You just show up whenever you want and wait your turn (which can take about half an hour or so)

The woman is phenomenal. She explains everything. If you're a little paranoid like I am and you're hunting for every possible specialist referral, she won't give you any trouble... she'll get you those referrals and even suggest where to go for specific tests.
🙏

She really is wonderful!!! Once, I rushed in because of an allergic reaction to some vaginal cream; she saw me privately and was hands down the most gentle doctor I've ever encountered. But she has one tiny issue: SHE HAS NO ROOM, and she probably never will, since she’s likely the only decent gynecologist in that part of town.
And yeah, that jerk Šušac and his perpetually pissed-off nurse are the absolute worst. Stay far away, seriously.
If, say, you have an emergency and if she’s willing to see you after you’ve had to explain ten times why you can't wait for a regular appointment, she might keep you waiting all day. Last time, I actually burst into tears in the waiting room because that bitch told me, after five hours of sitting there, "Why can't you just wait a bit longer?... hm... clearly it isn't that bad."
And I had the worst bladder infection of my life along with all the usual issues...

so not everything that confuses little Legion about his surroundings has to end up stuck in the women's section!

you're reading my mind... a male volunteer wandering among the ladies, just in case people wonder if he's gay?

Since back in 2003, I’ve been dealing with infections every single month. Every gynecologist I saw—six in total, ranging from those at community clinics to my private specialists—just gave me some creams or vaginal suppositories, flashed a smile, took my money, and sent me on my way. Once these infections started hitting me every two or three months, I finally snapped and looked up Virogen online. Following a doctor's recommendation, I went through every possible swab test imaginable and just threw $400everything out the window.
It turns out everything came back positive. Apparently, I'm in a complete mess because the root cause was HPV—something absolutely nobody suspected, not even my PRIVATE doctor, the one I’ve been seeing since day one who consistently charged me at least $83 per visit.
All the other bacterial issues are just consequences of the HPV activity, likely because my immune system is clearly shot. Because I was treated so incompetently all this time, I’m now stuck dealing with the fallout... mentally, physically, and financially.
I can't help but wonder if I'll ever be able to have children...

Honestly, I just wish I were living in America right now... LAWSUIT; LAWSUIT;

Virogen actually has a Q&A section, and Dr. Dorić is wonderful and always helpful. I don't regret a single cent spent with her.😉
