Omicron variant in Coronavirus ·
Daniel Wood9 said:But look, they've got high rates of HIV and TB, plus vaccination numbers are pretty low. Their population is definitely younger than what you see in most European countries, though.

South African Alice was actually on CNN tonight, and while she did mention how things are being blown out of proportion to stir up panic, she was also very clear about the need to keep the public informed and push for vaccinations and booster shots—both in South Africa and the UK.

The UK has a much older demographic, but their vaccination rates are way higher than in South Africa. People, especially the younger crowd, are dropping like flies from Omicron, but so far, it doesn't look like mortality rates have actually spiked significantly.

Where exactly is this younger generation "dropping like flies" from Omicron? And what on earth does "dropping like flies" even mean in this context? Are we talking about those news reports out of China at the start of everything where people were just collapsing in the streets or what?...

South Park hit the nail on the head again... the COVID-19 Delta Plus Rewards Variant has finally arrived.
Greetings,

At yesterday’s roundtable discussion, "Economic Reality and the Path Forward," representatives from the (likely) incoming administration were incredibly timid about announcing what they might actually accomplish once they take power. In short... absolutely zero change in mindset. Nothing. Zilch.

The Democratic Party’s economic strategist, Branko Grčić,
...advocated for federal interventionism centered on tax relief for businesses, direct subsidies for new hiring and investment, and launching new federal investment projects—specifically targeting energy, transportation, and logistics, which remain top priorities for the American government.

Radimir Čaičić announced
...the necessity of aggressively incentivizing investment through various measures, such as exempting reinvested profits from taxation while imposing heavy tax burdens on dividend withdrawals.

Meanwhile, Dragan Kovačević from the Democratic Party suggested we need to artificially force interest rates down.

So, it's just business as usual. A continuous cycle of terrible economic policies... nothing changes. They'll just artificially inflate GDP growth again, everything will look rosy on paper for our domestic enterprises, there will be plenty of malinvestment, and then when we inevitably crash... well, here comes 🙂.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Kevin Gonzalez79 said:And once again, we find ourselves circling back to the ghost of America. It’s the same old story: the Democratic Alliance and their rhetoric of violence and capital punishment, all wrapped up in a nationalist package. We’re witnessing the slow fragmentation of a dying Right-wing movement.

The Right-wing isn't lost... it simply doesn't exist in America.

Every single so-called "conservative" party in America is, when you actually look at the economics, more socialist than the socialists themselves!

I was honestly expecting some kind of right-wing libertarian movement to step up... but nope, nothing again. Just total silence.

We're still just sitting here waiting....

As far as this topic goes, once again, it’s just an endless flood of nothing but prejudices and assumptions...

I honestly don't have the energy to sit here and explain myself... maybe Jack will jump in, he's absolutely crushed people on threads like this before...

Henry Myers3 said:Vern. About eight or nine years ago, I had a roommate who went to the University of Phoenix. He managed to pass his French exam with a B. The catch? He hadn't even cracked a textbook the entire semester. How did he pull it off? Pure telepathy, apparently. He basically worked the system by handing his student ID to someone else, who then handed it back with a passing grade. The cost? A mere few hundred bucks. And honestly, what’s a little bit of cash compared to the "knowledge" he supposedly gained? 😁

Nobody was passing French at Vernon 8 or 9 years ago because nobody was even trying to pass... I was right there during that time, so I know for a fact how it was.

I was glued to the Vegas broadcast during that game...

Man, I was sweating bullets here... I put way too much money on this one...

Kudos to the Americans, though... there is seriously so much sports on TV over here...

And the new season started out strong with the Premier League and Bundesliga, but then Juanito and Esmeralda just absolutely ate them alive...

You’re probably twenty years old, still running to Mom and Dad every time things get tough, with absolutely zero clue what it actually means to fight for survival or build something real in this world. Honestly, most of the people on this board claiming they’ve "made it" and raked in the big bucks? They didn't succeed... they just learned how to steal.
And since you want to wrap yourself in the flag and talk about patriotism, why don't you go ask the actual veterans who bled for this country? The ones who fought for the USA but can barely afford decent groceries for their kids today, living off government assistance... ask them if they’d pack up and leave for a paycheck. Ask them if they’d turn their backs on this nation. Believe me, most of my friends—my brothers-in-arms—would.
As for Dwayne's scholarship, it’s not a lifetime pension, so that $2,000 isn't exactly breaking the bank... though I suppose it looks small compared to $5,000,000.

Oh, I see. So anyone who succeeded here is a thief, but anyone who makes it abroad is successful because of their "skills," right?🙄

Look, a scholarship isn't supposed to last forever... I don't think you even grasp the basic concept of what a scholarship is.

My father was a volunteer in the war, too, and he never asked for a single handout. Everything he owns, he earned himself.

I'm doing just fine living here in the States, and I haven't stolen a dime from anyone. Sure, if I moved overseas, I might pull a bigger paycheck, but I'd be miserable. I'm perfectly happy right where I am.

If you Americans don't fit in here in the States, then just pack your bags and move to another country...

Dwayne can't be compared to researchers because receiving 13 $0.00 grants and a house in San Diego is no small thing!!

Look, our country gave him everything they could, and he just tossed his identity aside for a bigger paycheck.

Whatever, he'll have to live with that choice. He won't be able to look people from his hometown in the eye anymore. If that's what the money was worth to him, fine.

Personally, I wouldn't move away from my hometown just for a higher salary... Back when I was in college, I did an internship over in New York, but I was just counting down the days until I could head back home. Anyone who hasn't experienced that doesn't understand what it's like to live somewhere where you simply—you just don't belong. At home, you have friends you've known since you were kids, people who are always there when you need help, people you can grab a beer with, people who know all your inside jokes and stuff. It's priceless...

Noah Anderson66 said:We see it all the time—top-tier American scientists packing their bags to chase a paycheck overseas. Why doesn't anyone call them out on it? They could be giving back so much to the States, and honestly, even a salary of $10,000 or $5000 wouldn't be bad. You can live on that. So why do they head abroad for ten times that amount? Do they just not care about America? What kind of patriots are they really? Total traitors, if you ask me! 🙄

Look, they’re still American scientists. Period. They work in global teams alongside researchers from every corner of the globe. It isn't like they're renouncing their homeland... they go to institutes where the research budgets are actually massive, which has more to do with funding than just some monthly paycheck. But at the end of the day, they remain AMERICAN SCIENTISTS. It's just like how Duje was in the USA. He trained there, he worked there, but he was always an American swimmer.

Duje isn't an American swimmer anymore.

quietmaker44 said:If we were willing to embrace Pesalov and lose our minds with joy whenever he brought home medals, then we have to accept Duja's decision too and honestly wish him nothing but the best.

Anything else is just pure hypocrisy, period.

Who exactly was jumping for joy when Pesalov won his medal?
Not me...🙄

da Silva has lived in this country since he was a kid and, even if he doesn't play soccer, he has every right to ask for an American passport.

For crying out loud, you people are pitying Duja like he’s some kind of pauper.

Duja is NOT a pauper. This country invested a massive amount of money into him—grants, scholarships, all that stuff...

And now he just leaves to swim for a country he's never even lived in.

Good luck to him, I guess... but as far as I'm concerned, he's nothing but a sellout and a corporate shill.

That's all there is to it.

Paul Lopez49 said:Give me a break. If he just didn't have enough cash to provide a decent life for himself and his family, I wouldn't say a word... but this is different. It's more than that. For him, it's still not enough. Fine, it's his choice, but frankly, America should just write him off entirely... in every sense of the word. Strip him of his citizenship and let him deal with visa hassles whenever he wants to set foot on our soil. He's a Qatari citizen now. Honestly, I’d want them to run a full background check on him every single time he hits the border.

I'm with you on this.
Why hasn't Gabreselasija just swapped his citizenship already?
He's got the money, he's got the future, and clearly, he just wants even more cash... so fine, let Qatar be his home now.
Even his old man would probably hang onto his American citizenship just because it makes traveling the world easier. He isn't exactly rushing to go visit Mustafa...
