Hang in there, Angela Wright... I truly admire you so much...😘
Angela Wright said:My mom has always been the type who absolutely hates being told what to do, especially when those instructions come from me (God forbid 🙂). I finally realized that if I approach her with a direct "But Mom, you really have to, please," she doesn't just get stubborn... but if I frame it as, "Do you think it might be helpful because of this or that?" I'm actually giving her the space to feel like she's still the one in control of her own life.
That is such a brilliant tactic. 😘
Thanks, Angela Wright 🙂 I have a much clearer understanding now 🙂
I’m just completely lost at this point... if a surgeon tells you to go see an oncologist, which one are you actually supposed to follow? And if, for instance, this female specialist focuses specifically on radiation therapy—does that mean she isn't handling the rest of the treatment plan?
Angela Wright said:In my mother’s specific case with her brain tumor (glioblastoma), everything had been surgically removed, and she was supposed to move on to radiation and chemo. However, because the prognosis was just so incredibly grim, she decided to pass on those treatments, wanting to spend what time she had left without all that suffering. Four months later, she had an MRI, and there was absolutely nothing showing a recurrence—since, as we know, there aren't really specific biomarkers for brain tumors. Then, just two months after that MRI, the recurrence hit, and she finally agreed to go through with the radiation and chemotherapy.
The point is, not every cancer behaves the same way. There are so many different types and stages, which is why having top-tier oncologists is absolutely vital to assess the situation and determine the right course of action.
thank you 😘. You know, you truly are such a brave young person... I always say that there is a reason for everything that happens to us, and that life only hands us exactly what we are capable of handling. This situation just shows how strong you are, even if you probably didn't realize it until you were faced with it... 🙂
@ Angela Wright - if the surgery was successful and everything looks clear, wouldn't an oncologist typically order tumor markers and either an MRI or a CT scan? And if those come back clean, why wouldn't they skip the chemo? Beyond that, what happens if something just feels "off" after the scans? Also, I'm curious—is every oncologist a generalist, or are they strictly specialized in the specific part of the body being treated?
@ urbanjackal3 - hang in there! I truly admire your courage and your outlook...😘

Thanks so much, 😘. I’ve heard that most of them just automatically recommend chemotherapy, but if there aren't any metastases, I really don't see the point in doing that...
We could honestly use something like this right now! While we’re on the subject—could you ladies recommend a reliable oncologist? Feel free to send me a DM if that's easier. Thanks.

So, does he have any mice at home, by any chance? I’m wondering if he might have picked up microsporosis... To me, it smells more like some kind of fungal infection, but he really needs to have a dermatologist take a look and sort it out. 🙂
Ureaplasma is actually a type of mycoplasma—it's its own specific group of microorganisms. In most instances, it won't cause any real symptoms on its own, but if you happen to develop an inflammation or contract HPV, things can spiral out of control quickly... and then the real trouble begins.

And she keeps going on about that one universal shampoo in all the other threads too, just relentlessly... 😉
Do you have a PM, leela?
So, I finally managed to whip up some millet risotto, and now I’m heading off to enjoy some miso soup 🙂 thanks so much, ladies 😘 honestly, we should probably start a thread for a little macrobiotic cooking school focused on gastronomy, what do you all think?
I am planning to experiment with some rice and millet tomorrow🙂 and I will let you know how it turns out😁
Thanks, Betty Bennett10, thanks, restlesspuma3 😘 I guess I really should give it a shot. But I still don't quite get it—we were cooking in a stainless steel pot, and after just 20 minutes the water had completely boiled off and the rice was sitting there bone dry, even though we weren't even using high heat... 😕
I really need some advice from the macrobiotic community! So, I picked up one of those books by Ukushi and decided to try making some brown rice. I was following the instructions to a tee—getting the water-to-rice ratio exactly right and everything—but then it said to toss it all into a pressure cooker and let it blast for 50 minutes. Some of my neighbors were trying to tell me that sounded like way too much, but I told them, "Look, don't tell me how to cook in my own kitchen..." So, I went ahead with it. And what happened? After just 15 minutes, the whole thing was scorched beyond recognition 😠. Now I’m stuck scrubbing the pot for the rest of the day, and I can't help but wonder... where did I go wrong? Please, if anyone knows, help me out. Today, I'm switching back to a stainless steel pot and just cooking it the traditional way 😁

I am always just completely dead for two days straight. I take ibuprofen, but honestly, it barely does enough to help me scrape through the pain... though I have to say, yoga actually helps. I've really started noticing that lately 🙂
Why am I crying?

Jack Sanchez4 said:It feels to me like this might point toward bipolar disorder. Now, I don't mean that in an extreme sense—it’s not some terrifying catastrophe—but rather something similar to standard depression, which is treatable. The difference here lies in these frequent mood swings. You have someone who is incredibly vibrant and full of energy one moment, only to suddenly collapse into tears for no apparent reason the next... and this cycle just repeats for years...
The worst thing you could do would be to simply ignore it, because that isn't a "normal way to express emotions." It would be just like an aggressive person claiming that shouting is their "normal" way of processing feelings, simply because that's how they are wired...
It seems to me like everyone on this forum is handing out diagnoses left and right... Look, I am certainly no psychiatrist or psychologist, but any decent expert in the field would start from the premise that there is no such thing as a universal definition for "normal" behavior... I truly believe that drawing a parallel between aggression and crying when someone hurts you—specifically regarding the definition of "normality"—is a flawed comparison. Most professionals will tell you that crying is actually a healthy defense mechanism, a simple way to "vent" all those emotions and get them out. Based on what I see, rapidowl81 doesn't look like someone who spends days or hours wailing just to manifest a behavioral disorder...

So if Zeno is crying, then go ahead and cry too—it’s really not that big of a deal! It just is what it is, so honestly, just let it happen.... I am convinced that once you accept this as part of who you are (which clearly seems necessary based on what you’ve shared in your previous posts) and you simply embrace it—you won't find yourself crying nearly as much. Everyone is different, after all.... I think the only time you should actually worry is if you’re constantly "losing it" and sobbing uncontrollably in every single situation, but that isn't the impression I've gathered from your posts 😁 .
But this idea that you're always right, that admitting mistakes is difficult for you, and that everyone is somehow conspiring against you—well, don't get angry, but that does suggest a certain level of entitlement 😉
but look, you'll learn sooner or later in life that nobody is perfect and that "your way" isn't always the best way... so it won't be able to hurt you quite as much when someone tries to prove you wrong or calls you out on your nonsense 😘
