What is happening to me? in Psychology ·
Casey Clark29 said:So, here’s the deal... I’ve been dealing with a speech impediment since I was six years old because of some intense anxiety, and honestly, I'm still struggling with it now at 22. I’ve tried seeing speech therapists and psychologists, but nothing really stuck because I lacked the patience—I just wanted everything to be fixed *right now*. As far as my family goes, I’m on the same page as my mom, but I have this deep-seated fear of my dad that I can’t even explain. That’s one big reason why I pull away from therapy; whenever that fear kicks in, I just shut down completely. It’s spiraled into being terrified of meeting new people, answering the phone, and a million other things. I feel terrible so often for pushing people away, but it’s an impulse I just can’t control. And lately, it feels like I’m constantly on the verge of tears every single day. There’s this heavy pressure building up inside me that just forces it out. I find myself hiding from everyone just so they won't see me crying. I can’t relax anywhere, period. Whether I’m just walking through downtown or hanging out somewhere, I always feel like I'm about to break down. It’s exhausting, and I have no idea how to get a handle on it. That’s basically the long and short of it. I’m usually pretty quiet because of my speech issues, but I’m hoping you guys get where I'm coming from. I’d love to hear what you think, and if anyone has actual advice on how to stop these constant tears... Thanks.

Just by putting this all out there, you’re already starting to face the music... seriously, don't stop now. I'm positive there's a way to work through this depression and eventually learn how to actually love yourself. 😘

Let me give you a heads-up on what happens if you just give up on yourself, based on someone I know who went through something almost identical to yours... I have a cousin who’s had a speech impediment since he was a kid. When we were little, like 5 to 9 years old, it wasn't really a big deal, but once puberty hit and kids at school and even the neighborhood bullies started relentlessly picking on him, he just totally retreated. He shut himself off and stopped hanging out with anyone at all.

He’s 30 now, he still has the speech issue, and he still doesn't go out or have a single friend to his name. He quit trying right at the start, and his parents didn't step up to give him the support or help he needed.

Look, if someone won't accept you exactly as you are, believe me, they aren't worth your time.

And I definitely recommend you keep writing everything down—even if it’s just a way to slowly chip away at that anxiety. You’ll always find someone here willing to listen, give you advice, or just offer some comfort.

cosmiccyclist412 said:I took another test today, totally panicking, and I seriously can't wait until Monday to see my OB-GYN—it was negative again. Though, I did drink a ton of water right before, so I'm worried I might have diluted my urine.

On top of that, I’ve been feeling nauseous all day, but I honestly don't know if it's actually happening or if I'm just getting in my own head. My stomach is incredibly bloated, and walking hurts like hell—one minute it's right where my ovaries are, especially on the right side, then it shifts to the middle, just below my belly button. I've got this white discharge too. Just walking around wears me out, and when I finally stop, I can barely catch my breath. I live on the second floor and even climbing those stairs is a struggle! My stomach feels like it's starting to round out a bit, though that might not mean much since I've never been super thin anyway. Plus, my head is pounding, but usually an Advil fixes that.

Massive doses of what? Because I was popping B-vitamin capsules all summer, but this stuff started in mid-September, basically right when my college stress kicked into high gear. Since then, I've put on a few pounds (haven't weighed myself, but I can tell by how my clothes fit), and I just feel terrible—sluggish, wanting to be alone, just generally not okay. Ever since my gums started bleeding (I seriously doubt it's some major illness, definitely not scurvy, because my teeth have always been perfect and I take such good care of them) and these stomach cramps started, I've been suspecting pregnancy because I've connected everything else to it (like my breasts growing—they've always been big, but now they feel even bigger). Sure, my periods are usually regular, but last time, the bleeding was weird—thick, chocolatey stuff, almost like cream, but that was only on the first day.

I am completely losing it, thinking about nothing else. I just hope I'm not pregnant; everything else would be manageable, but if I am... man, I just hope it's not for long.

You are definitely not pregnant; it doesn't matter if your urine was diluted or whatever, that's nonsense.

What's happening to you (since I'm assuming you're a student) is just total physical burnout after finals week.

The discharge, the bleeding gums, and all that is just what happens when your immune system hits rock bottom. It's stress and crappy eating habits.

The breast swelling and ovary pains? That's just PMS, but because of the stress, your period is running late (doesn't matter if it used to be regular before).

One time, because of college stress, my period showed up twice in just 15 days.
I’m jumping in to back up what Katherine said—welcome to the club, you're officially hanging out with a bunch of wise, pregnant ladies now! 😉

Seriously though, people, what's the deal with the coalition and the bee??? Have they even had their babies yet??
alexxx said:3. When should I actually take the INTIM plus test?
You can run the test whenever you want—whether you're on your period or if you think you've already missed it. How do you figure out when your period is due? Just count the days from the first day of one period to the day before the next one starts. That total gives you your cycle length.

* If your cycles are all over the place, just go with the number of days from your longest cycle in the recent period before testing.
* If you have zero clue when your period is coming, wait at least 19 days after having unprotected sex before taking the test.
* If the result comes back negative but you still haven't gotten your period, hang tight for at least 3 days before testing again. You might have just jumped the gun.

Just throw that into the rules during the initial forum registration, right alongside everything else, and then boom—problem solved.😬

First things first, you’re looking at an ultrasound, then maybe a biopsy if they need more info. Once those results are back, you'll know if you need to head in for a mammogram.

Does your nipple actually hurt when you touch it? And does that pain get way worse right before your period starts?

Is there actually a way to check which doctors are currently taking Medicare patients?

I’m talking about a specific website or something like that... I need to know who's covered.

I finally ditched GEICO this year, thank God!
So, about two months before my last registration, I got into this fender bender with my car—nothing crazy, just some property damage worth maybe $1,500.
When I went to register the car, they immediately slapped me down as the at-fault driver and tanked my bonus to 35%.
Then, when I tried to switch providers this year, every single other company kept flagging me as the one at fault (dropping my bonus to 20%), except for GEICO...
To actually switch over, I had to trek all the way to their main headquarters in Chicago just to beg for a piece of paper proving I didn't cause any accidents last year. Once I had that paper in hand, I could finally get a different policy.

And hey, guess what? My bonus is back up to 40%!
Look, all these tests are basically the same level of accuracy anyway, so there's zero point in blowing your budget on the most expensive one.
