Has anyone mentioned the time machine?
Eric Jackson43 said:Gmazolet and Boogeyman (someone mentioned Captain Power)

Did anyone actually bring that up? I don't think I caught anyone mentioning it.

Anyway, that series just popped into my head today, and man, it would be awesome if they ever reran it. I actually still have an old VHS tape with some episodes on it, including those last two which were honestly incredible.

By the way, the robots are "Soaron" and "Blaster" 😁

Look, I haven't seen the movie yet, and honestly, I doubt I’ll even bother heading to the cinema for it—I’d probably just wait to watch it at home on VHS or DVD. But if there's one solid reason I actually want to check it out, it's because of Ed Norton.

I don't know about you guys, but I think he's an incredible actor. (I guess there isn't a more precise or professional word than "incredible" to describe him 😁). He just has this presence; he can grab your attention even if he's just standing in the corner being quiet.

He clearly has massive potential, so I just really hope they don't waste it.

Man, what a classic. I honestly don't think I've ever cried harder than when that Robot died... it was brutal. But hey, at least I was there from the very beginning. 🙂

He had a caterpillar, but he didn't really hang out with the kids.

I think you're talking about that one movie where the runaway Robot basically becomes "alive."

Steve Guttenberg stars in this movie.

I swear, I am just so done with all of you. Seriously. 😁

Check out this page on IMDb for Short Circuit. I guess it’s worth a look if you're into that kind of thing.(1986)
Richard Hernandez13 said:That robotics stuff from Langov's "Metropolis."

Great minds think alike. 👍 I guess I just thought of Tim from Tezukin Metropolis first.

But honestly, I didn't want to go down the anime rabbit hole. Once you start talking about robots, there’s just no end to it. 😁

Anyway, come on guys, let's hear some cool robots from movies. There have to be way more than the ones we've already mentioned.

Actually, I just remembered one: "Johnny 5" from "Short Circuit"
Ugh... honestly, I’m having a hard time picking just one. They all kind of blur together for me.

But I guess R2-D2 is definitely my favorite, probably sitting right at the top of my list. Sadly, I can't really think of many other examples besides the ones we've already mentioned.

Actually, I just remembered Holy from "Red Dwarf." 😁 👍 Now there's one sarcastic A.I.

Come on, guys, dig a little deeper. I know those "laws of robotics" exist, but I'm drawing a total blank on any others.

BTW, what do you mean by non-humanoids? Are you talking about things that aren't human, or things that don't have a human shape—or maybe both?
darktinker47 said:Actually, no. "M" is a movie about hunting down a child killer ( Peter Lorre ).

I guess I stand corrected. 😳 👍

Wait, so what's the deal with M (1931)? Are we talking about Metropolis?
Jack Harris3 said:Gone with the Wind 😁 😁 😁

👍

"The Apartment"

Instead of just saying Mariachi, maybe try being a little more specific about what you're actually looking for?

I guess you're looking for something you haven't seen yet, or maybe you're just curious about some older classics.
Hero in Movies ·
I'm not sure if there's already been a thread about this movie, but since I didn't see it on the list, I'm starting one now. If it already exists, I guess a MOD can just move it. 😉

So, in typical fashion, I'm always catching up on things because I'm usually out of the loop, but at least this isn't some film that’s already been dragged through US theaters—which probably explains why there wasn't a thread. Usually, our filmmakers seem more interested in churning out stuff like "Jackass" rather than actual quality movies like "Hero."

Anyway, moving on to the film itself. I watched it tonight (shoutout to the smart people who actually own it on 😁 DVD) and I was honestly blown away.

Look, it's not like I'm a massive fan of anything from China or Hong Kong, but if every movie were made like "Hero," I might actually become one. 😁

Before sitting down to watch, I figured I was just in for another version of Tiger and Dragon, but man, this thing really caught me off guard.

Okay, the fight scenes follow a similar vibe, but I wasn't even focusing on them that much. What really floored me was the plot. I mean, taking a story that's relatively simple and somewhat predictable and turning it into a film like this... it's either pure artistry or just a massive stroke of inspiration. 😁 Plus, you've got those shots every few minutes, and then there's Jet Li—I mean, how do you beat that? 😁

But seriously, I was genuinely intrigued to see what Qin or Nameless would say after each fight, how the next part of the story would unfold, and how the whole thing would wrap up.

And that ending? It was truly great. Honestly, the ending alone earns the movie a higher rating in my book. 👍

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's one of the best films I've ever seen, but it is good. At the very least, it's one of the better ones I've watched all year.

Hmm... I guess it's possible they follow some kind of "prime directive" like in Star Trek, where they aren't allowed to mess with the development of supposedly inferior species like us.

You never really know.

Richard Hernandez13 said:I think you guys are being way too vague. These songs are just general pop culture staples that show up in pretty much every movie out there.

No, no, no. I disagree. This is actually fine. You kind of have to put in a little effort if you want to pin down which specific movie is being referenced.

Just please, don't pick some random scene where a song is just playing in the background for atmosphere. It needs to be an actual iconic moment where the music actually matters to the scene itself.

Since it seems like nobody is actually going to give you a straight answer to your question, maybe just start a new thread?

Why on earth would I start a new thread???

The hardest part—the film and the artist—was already answered.

I mean, I don't think it's that much to ask to just drop the song title 🙄 and the scene. geez

darktinker47 said:Hey, come on, don't let this thread die! (I seriously can't believe nobody's biting here.)
Maybe some people want to jump in, but they just don't know the answer. 😢
So, I guess I'll suggest my first amendment to the current rules:
If nobody provides the right answer within... I don't know, a certain amount of time... 😕 ...(how long? 😁 )... we just move on to a new question.
Or maybe we could expand the questions to include famous quotes or iconic scenes, where you have to guess the film, director, characters, or actors... or something along those lines.

Or we could just throw out a little hint to make things easier.

Jessica Nguyen85 said:I don't get the joke, obviously... so what's the punchline?

Well, sure, it's about Metropolis, and the artist is right too, but the answer isn't really complete.

You also need to include the song title and maybe a little detail from the scene where it actually plays. (Just try not to spoil 😁 it.)

it's your turn to handle your assignment.

Man... I honestly can't think of anything easier because I have no clue when I last actually sat down to watch a movie where someone sang a really good song during an iconic scene.

So, here is just the first thing that popped into my head.

"Can't Stop Loving You,
I've made up my mind.
To live in memories,
of the lonesome times.

I can't stop wanting you,
It's useless to say.
So I'll just live my life,
in dreams of yesterday.

I mean, shouldn't it be "Wayne's World," right?

You know, that scene where they're driving around in the car.

Anyway, Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
