So, I’ve been dealing with this low-grade fever for about ten days now. It usually crawls its way up to 100.4°F in the evenings... though it hasn't quite hit that mark the last couple of nights. During the day, I’m mostly hovering around 99.5°F by late afternoon, and then it disappears entirely by morning. Honestly, I spent basically the whole month of December fighting off a cold that just wouldn't quit, and once we passed New Year's, it morphed into some sort of lingering viral thing. The coughing was brutal—really deep, chesty stuff. It’s subsided a bit, but now my throat is acting up and I have this nagging sensation that my sinuses are starting to inflame...
My doctor mentioned it could easily be an adenovirus. I guess I'm wondering if anyone else here has dealt with this kind of drawn-out, "not quite sick but definitely not well" limbo for this long...🤷 My blood work came back mostly fine, with the exception of my lymphocyte count and liver enzymes. They're going to monitor whether those levels continue to climb to see if we're actually looking at mononucleosis, but the doctor isn't holding her breath... most of the classic symptoms are either pretty mild or just non-existent.

Moby had all the potential to be absolutely stellar, yet he ended up just being... decent. There were certain elements I was really looking forward to that never quite materialized, and honestly, he sort of watered down the whole experience by bringing in that new singer... such a missed opportunity for what could have been a much tighter set...
As for the crowd reaction, they seemed way more hyped for the Nerd than for Moby, so... yeah, I can't say I'm a fan of that direction, though I suppose Moby still managed to pull a better crowd than the Nerd did.

As for my personal ranking, here’s how I see it:
1. The Departed - A gripping, high-tension masterpiece. The direction is spot on, Jack Nicholson is absolutely brilliant, and those final scenes... they might just be the most impactful sequences of the year, if not more...
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - It definitely diverges from the first installment in many ways, yet somehow manages to retain that specific charm that won us over. And Johnny Depp is, quite frankly, irreplaceable.
3. Perfume - Pure glamour, really...
4. Crash -
5. Casino Royale - It earned its place, partly because I'm a massive Bond fan and have grown attached to the series, but also because this is the version of Bond I've always wanted to see. Realistic, gritty, and relentless. It feels like Campbell should probably specialize in directing Bond films, given that his other projects tend to be flops...

Man, when in the last few years have we actually been able to say the draw didn't go our way? The only thing I can even recall is back in the 2nd round UEFA Cup 2002/03, when Dinamo was seeded and ended up facing Fulham—a side that actually had some serious talent at the time (Steve Marbranque, Marlet, Edwin van der Sar, Boa Mort, and so on)...
Everything since then has just been progressively more pathetic!!!!!
But it always turns out to be us who completely blew it. Dinamo didn't know what to do against Dnipro, Katalinić messed things up against Shelbourne FC, Runje and Miladin struggled against Roma, and HNK Rijeka conceded a goal against Genclerbirligi in the 90th minute—if it hadn't been for a penalty, Heerenveen would have absolutely rolled over Dinamo. Then there's Chicago playing around against ZTE, a team they could handle in their sleep; Hajduk Split underestimating Dunaferr SE; Varteks getting so intimidated by Brøndby IF that they stepped onto the pitch with legs made of lead mixed with steel; and Dinamo thinking Maccabi Tel Aviv was just some farm team...
Osijek could have easily made history a year later, but instead, they managed to do the one thing almost anyone else would have avoided: losing to Slavija in such an embarrassing fashion. And 1. FC Kaiserslautern just laughed at them from the sidelines.
If UEFA didn't screw over smaller clubs, you wouldn't see teams like Austria Wien, CSKA Moscow, or AZ Alkmaar (even if the Dutch squad was pretty thin) making it to the UEFA Cup quarterfinals. Before that, you had Steaua București, Partizan Mexico City, Shakhtar Donetsk, and "some guys" from Dnipro twice in a row playing in Europe; Debrecen seeing a European winter; Vålerenga; FK Teplice... these aren't massive clubs throwing money around left and right!!!!
The truth is, we're small. We’re never going to see those hundreds of millions swirling around like they do in the Champions League. UEFA screwed us over with the Osijek vs Vartex situation a year later too (they botched Varteks' coefficient calculation and basically handed the matchup to Aston Villa on a silver platter). So, was justice served? Osijek was the surprise package of the mid-season in the UEFA Cup, and Varteks actually hammered Aston Villa, only to watch them struggle later in the UEFA Cup.
Conclusion: UEFA respects you exactly as much as you prove yourself to be capable. If you try to coast on charm alone, expect to get slapped. If you actually show you're someone significant, you won't be treated like a dwarf anymore. That's how it works in Europe. It’s just that here, we act like everyone is the villain, like the whole continent is conspiring against us, as if we’re some kind of tumor on Europe. We aren't. It's just that our officials (just like those in Canada) can't stomach the fact that THEY are the incompetent ones who need to pack up and leave their clubs. (Now I'm just waiting for rustystag7 to jump in and start with, 'Exactly! That's spot on!' 😁 )
P.S. You might not realize it, but Dinamo still commands more respect in Europe than it realistically deserves. It’s like Europe has a much higher opinion of our football than we do of ourselves. The problem is, they see our flaws clearly, while the people who *should* be addressing those flaws are either too dim to notice or too corrupt to care...

Usually, UEFA is pretty ruthless about punishing mistakes like this lately. I can't quite recall the specifics regarding what went down that decisive night with Štimac—I wasn't following football closely enough back then—but I do know that during the 2001/2002 season, UEFA handed Hak Valekakoski a 3-0 victory over Maccabi Haifa for similar reasons, after Maccabi had won the first leg 1-0 in Finland. Even just last year, Maccabi Tel-Aviv was awarded a 3-0 win against PAOK because one of the Greek players wasn't actually eligible to play...
At the end of the day, UEFA really screwed us here. Though, if I'm being honest, I don't think we applied nearly enough pressure; we just sat there naively expecting justice to prevail, while the HNS didn't even bother to react. Still, clubs that fail to watch these details don't deserve anything more than these kinds of penalties. For God's sake, this isn't the UEFA Cup or the Champions League in Football Manager 2005 where you can just play however you want...
