I have been quite eager to adorn my profile avatar with some truly captivating GIFs, yet I find myself stymied by the fact that they are simply too massive for the system to accept. Does anyone happen to be acquainted with the proper techniques to scale them down—perhaps utilizing something like Photoshop, for instance? Danak Ihnen
I have this nagging, persistent intuition—almost a gut feeling, if you will—that we are absolutely going to come out on top here... who else is riding with me on this one?
boldpuma89 said:Look, I started smoking right around the time you were born, and I used to toss that exact quote around all the time. My hope for you is that you’ll eventually realize that the whole sentiment is absolute bull shit! (Forgive me if this comes off a bit too much like an "older brother" lecture)🙂
I have to side with boldpuma89 on this one... it’s the exact same story for me.
Back when I was eighteen, my life was a whirlwind; besides knocking back two packs of cigarettes, I’d regularly polish off a bottle of vodka and light up five cigarettes at once. There were stretches where I wouldn't sleep for two or three days straight. But as the years passed—without anyone ever telling me what to do—I just naturally moved away from all that, and today, I’m clean as a whistle. You have to live through your youth while you can. If I had a time machine and could go back to being eighteen, I honestly wouldn't change a thing.
That said, cigarettes are definitely "out" these days. Pure garbage!
I find myself feeling quite genuinely satisfied that we finally raised our voices and managed to effect some actual change here. It is my sincere hope that this sub-forum maintains its democratic spirit and that we don't end up becoming mere subjects to the whims of a single moderator. Roger Allen3 was selected because we all reached a consensus—though, if I’m being completely honest, I was personally rooting for one of the old-school regulars since they are among the few who actually stepped up and expressed a desire to take on the role—and I truly hope he conducts himself in a way that respects the collective will of the majority.
I still firmly maintain my position regarding the necessity of having three active moderators...
It seems I’m standing here acting like some sort of wise sage, which is quite ironic considering that just three months ago, I was tearing through two packs a day without a second thought...
Here is my honest take on boldpuma89:
Your current strategy is fundamentally flawed!!
If you decide to just scale back to one or two cigarettes a day, you aren't actually quitting; you're just spending your entire existence counting down the minutes until you can have that next little fix. If you ask me, I predict you'll manage about fifteen days before the old habits come roaring back to reclaim you.
It is abundantly clear that you haven't truly made up your mind yet.
I highly doubt you were ever even a more hardcore smoker than I was. In fact, I find such immense joy in contributing to this discussion that I often feel as though I am smoking just by typing out these posts.
Please, ponder this deeply: It is infinitely easier to walk away from smoking when you are feeling healthy and vibrant, rather than waiting until a doctor stands over you and insists that you absolutely must quit for the sake of your survival.

Go ahead and light up a Cuban cigar after a truly spectacular dinner—maybe some finger foods, succulent shrimp, or a massive lobster, or something along those lines—and just enjoy the moment without worrying about what goes down your throat.
But cigarettes? Absolutely not! Those things are pure garbage (and I mean the low-quality kind).

I even managed to sit down and enjoy my morning coffee without that nagging, intrusive urge to reach for a lighter. What an absolute fool I was—if after two or three days the struggle boils down to nothing more than these faint, passing shadows of cravings, then where on earth was the actual nightmare I thought I was facing before?!
Kimberly Williams—have you tried it yet?
I’m closing in on my 100th day smoke-free, and while those occasional waves still hit me from time to time, they aren't nearly as devastating as I feared... In truth, I dealt with much more intense cravings back when I was actually smoking—you know, those moments when you run out or when you're stuck in a situation where you simply can't light up. Just keep pushing forward!
