Alexander Moore67 said:You’re tripping. I never said anyone should go out and buy a whole new rig; I meant getting a new RX 6600. It absolutely smokes a 580, doesn't have warranty issues, runs cooler, uses GDDR6, and sits on a much better 7nm process. You were born in 1958, DECEC....

Nice one. Even Gen Z knows how to do the math when you're looking at $60 versus $250.
It's pretty obvious you've been left behind by the times. ☕
Alexander Moore67 said:I basically just slapped myself in the face...

DECEC, seriously, go read the bug report and spare us all from your teenage tantrums. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. It’s always the easiest thing in the world to just tell someone to go out and buy a whole new rig because nothing else works, isn't it? Typical.

I was messing around with some code on an old Pentium the other day.
Jacob Kelly32 said:Where are you guys even finding these used mining cards? And do they actually have CPUs available too, or is it just GPUs? 😁

Thanks. 🙏

I guess I've got it. I was browsing through Craigslist earlier, just killing time, and I saw some absolute nonsense posted. Honestly, you see some things on these local marketplaces that make you wonder if people have completely lost their grip on reality. It’s all just chaos out there.Look, if they’re claiming they have 100 or 200 units sitting there, you’re looking at mining rigs. Let’s be real—they aren't winning any beauty contests, but hey, as long as the damn thing actually runs, who cares? Aesthetics are secondary when you just want results. The real issue is that electricity rates have absolutely skyrocketed lately. It’s killing the margins, so a lot of people are just folding, ditching their old hardware, and getting out of the game entirely. If you’ve already got a solid foundation set up and you've got the capacity, you might want to look into Cross instead. If you can snag a decent price, it’s definitely worth considering.

na eBay. You can find just as much solid used hardware out there if you know where to look.
Alexander Moore67 said:The idea that an i5 4460 is enough for either an RX 580 or a GTX 960 is just wrong. That GTX 960 is hitting a massive bottleneck, and if you step up to a new RX 6600, that CPU is going to choke it out completely. For about $250, you can grab a brand new GPU with GDDR6 on a 7nm process that’s basically twice as powerful as a 580 while pulling hardly any power. Everything else people are saying is just nonsense.

Man, stop talking nonsense. Every single game handles CPU and GPU resources differently. Take Call of Duty—that's 100% GPU usage with the CPU sitting at maybe 50-60%. Basically, if you have a decent graphics card, you could probably run it on some basic Pentium; Warzone might demand more, but you don't need a high-end processor for everything. Then look at something like Need for Speed, where the situation is totally flipped. Just slap a stronger GPU on that i5 and it'll run fine. At that point, your only real concern is whether your power supply can handle it.

If you're really going to obsess over bottlenecks, you might as well just go out and buy a whole new PC right now.
Jacob Kelly32 said:Hey everyone,

I’m running a pretty ancient bucket of a PC that I mostly use for older titles. Lately, my buddies have been nagging me to jump into Warzone, so I'm wondering how much of an upgrade I can actually pull off this rig to keep up with them. I've spent most of my life playing games with potato graphics, so I don't really care about visual fidelity—I just need enough FPS to stay alive.

Current specs:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Nvidia Geforce GTX 960

So, I'm thinking maybe swap in a better CPU and a GPU, ideally without having to ditch the motherboard entirely.

eto, looking for the least painful and cheapest way to do this 😁 thx

If you want the absolute cheapest route, grab a used RX 580 from some crypto miner... you can usually find a decent used CPU depending on what motherboard you're rocking. You could probably get it all done for around $100. For Call of Duty, the GPU is really what's going to carry you.

Honestly, I’d just go with the Fortron.

stormybison55 said:Hey there. Looking for a recommendation for a 27" monitor, budget is around $325.
The kids will be doing some light gaming on it too, nothing crazy.
Eye protection is a big one for me, needs to be VESA mount compatible, better than Full HD resolution, and I need response times no worse than 3ms. My old Xiaomi 2K monitor finally kicked the bucket, and unfortunately, the warranty just expired.
If the specs help, here's what I'm running:
Intel Core i5-12600K 3.6 GHz LGA1700 box DDR4
DDR4 Patriot Viper Steel, 16GB (2x8) 3600Mhz
KINGSTON NV1 500GB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD
MS FIGHTER V315 gaming case, 4x120 LED
Gigabyte MB Z690 UD, S.1700, 4×DDR4/5333(OC), 3×PCIe 4.0 M.2, 2.5 G-LAN, DP/HDMI, ATX
Seasonic G12 GC-750 Gold PSU
ID-Cooling FrostFlow x 120 liquid cooler, 1x120mm, PWM.

Funny enough, I actually picked up that exact monitor a few days ago... was debating between it and a basic Dell model.

Man, I’m telling you, Alpine is just falling apart at the seams. It felt like things were already going south for Okon during the testing phase, too. Everything's just a mess.

He completely fell apart just because he took a hit from Haas.
stormybadger8 said:Leclerc's move—actually, let's call it what it was, Ferrari's move—was just straight-up stupidity. Nothing else to it.
Why even bother playing games on a wet track with soft tires just to chase a single point for a fantasy league? It’s a joke.
In the end, you just get screwed and watch those points slip right through your fingers. All they had to do was stay steady, bring the car home, and grab a podium. Simple as that. ☕

He wasn't even hunting for points; he was aiming for something else entirely. Ferrari actually nailed the strategy, but Leclerc pushed it way too far today and it backfired. That doesn't mean he won't pull it off next time, though. If he’d actually stuck the landing, everyone would be patting him on the back right now.

We’re barely even out of the gate this season, and honestly, everyone has already shown they aren't playing it safe. It's going to be a wild ride once things really start heating up.

What an absolute train wreck of a commentary crew.
The announcers over at Formula 1 are totally clueless, as usual—it’s like they aren't even watching the race. They’re out here blaming Alons for being slow when the guy actually just got hammered by Haas. It wasn't his driving; it was a wreck.
James Harris34 said:Alonso is an idiot. He could've been top 3 and actually fighting for the win tomorrow.

Why's he an idiot? Because his Renault decided to give up on him?

Kevin Magnussen and Valtteri Bottas pulling off a surprise. What a shocker.

Looks like this year's champion is leaning into the trend instead of wearing a hat.
James Harris34 said:"That absolute moron Tsunoda completely screwed over both Red Bull Racing cars.

Yeah, sure. When things go south, everyone else is suddenly at fault—especially when you're just some kid who can't hold his own.
mellowtiger83 said:I honestly don't care if they called the race early or whatever. That's not even the issue here. What’s actually up for debate is how they decide to hand out points when nobody even finished the full distance. It's a mess.

Look, let’s just move past whether someone should've even been on the track or not. That’s a whole different rabbit hole. The real issue here is this ridiculous points system. Honestly, where does this nonsense even come from? Someone high up in the governing body needs to answer for this. When you're dealing with half-points at the end of a race, that tiny margin can be the difference between jumping up a spot or sliding down the standings. It's messy, and frankly, it's frustrating.

The whole problem is... they showed up just to race, plain and simple. It shouldn't matter if it's pouring rain or bone dry. But now, some genius decided he’s the smartest guy in the room, thinking he can swoop in and dictate the rules when he clearly doesn't know the first thing about actual racing.

The absolute best races happen when the conditions are total chaos. That’s when raw talent actually matters because you can't just rely on having the fastest car to carry you to the finish line. When things get messy, the engineering advantage starts to fade, and that's where the real drama lives. Honestly, if a team thinks playing it safe is more important than going for glory, they can just pack up and quit right now.
What absolute morons are running this race. We’ve been sitting here waiting for three hours just for them to finally start under even worse conditions than before.
