Help! My sewing machine is jamming up. in Health ·
I pulled out about 8 inches of thread... doctor told me he would’ve done the exact same thing if I’d actually shown up to see him instead of DIYing it.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
So, there’s this physical therapy clinic over at the local aquatic center near the sports complex—it’s part of the Saint Jude Medical Center network... they absolutely worked wonders on my leg. I’m talking top-tier expertise and incredibly kind people, too. They really know their stuff.

Put me on that list too... I haven't taken a single pill in my life—let alone given one to my kids—without reading the damn instructions first.

Justin Fox said:How was the recovery after surgery? Did you ever get back to 100%, or did you just settle for an 80-90% fix?

Right after the surgery, I spent two months strictly non-weight bearing on that leg... during that stretch, the joint was super swollen, my leg was totally numb, and circulation was basically nonexistent. I got lucky because I could afford a private physical therapist who came to my place whenever needed, twice a day... honestly, I feel like those massages are what actually brought my leg back to life. Then came the surgery to remove the fixator, which finally let me start putting weight on it again... followed by some intense PT. Somewhere along the line, one of the wires started shifting, so I demanded they take everything out... now it's just the plate and screws left, and that's coming out this fall.

As for how I feel today:

Minor side effects? Sure... I walk fine, drive, climb stairs... occasionally my leg feels heavy, or the scar gets itchy... nothing major.

Major consequences? Total disaster... I’ve become addicted to the internet... and this forum. 😁

I’ve been through it once, and let me tell you, it was brutal... I tore everything possible in my right ankle... wires, screws, the whole nine yards... three surgeries down, and I’ve still got one more to go.

Splash some cold water on your face. If that doesn't cut it, just hop in a cold shower 😁

What are you even trying to act out?
Just call the doctor, tell them over the phone that everything hurts, mention you're smoking, and say you'll swing by once you're feeling slightly better. Tell them you need them to sign off on some sick leave.
If you're actually trying to pull a fast one on the elderly, give it a shot and let us know how it goes.😍

Thanks. They did a full allergy panel, so I guess they ran the TB test too.
It just hit me 😵 that the reaction during the standard school screening was even stronger, which is why we ended up getting sent to the Mayo Clinic for extra testing.
There wasn't even a hint of TB; my kid just reacts aggressively to everything.

Thanks again,🙂

My medical records show a PPD result that's strongly positive at +20 mm.
Can someone break down what that actually means and tell me what a normal PPD reading should look like?
nimblehawk52 said:What the hell do you know about what I look like!?!🙂

I guess I’d figure out if I had mono 😕

How does that even work? Why is everyone freaking out over it? 🤔

It's hilarious that my doctor couldn't even explain what it actually does, and clearly nobody on this forum knows either.🤣

a) if you can wiggle your ears, you're fine
b) you don't even need to realize it if it's mild
c) they take a piece of your liver for testing—whether it's a needle or full-on laparoscopic surgery, believe me, I was done talking about livers at that exact moment

I haven't cut out coffee, just fried food and red meat.
Nobody even told me to ditch the caffeine; they only nagged me about cigarettes, but since it wasn't my lungs on the line, I had plenty of opinions of my own.
nimblehawk52 said:and why did crimsonpuma48 have so many? am i gonna be just like crimsonpuma48? what if i kick the bucket? what if i don't get as lucky as crimsonpuma48?🤔

where's the doctor from New York?😵

a) you definitely don't look like you're dying😵
b) the doc should've put that mono test on your referral😕
c) no clue why I had so many, guess they just like me😍
d) probably because I turned down the liver biopsy; felt fine right then and there🎉
I’ve seen much bigger numbers than that survive

nimblehawk52 said:What the hell is that ALT even doing in my liver? I tried Googling it, but honestly, nothing came up that actually made sense...

Basically, now I’m hitting one probiotic drink, some Greek yogurt, or fruit yogurt every single day. 🙂

It’s probably just there so the nurses have something to scribble down when they draw your blood.😍
I haven't a clue what it's for—some damn enzyme, right? It shouldn't be a big deal unless it climbs above 36...
Waiting for someone like a specialist to weigh in, since they usually know this stuff inside out.👍
Yeah, 352. I checked my lab results myself.
curly&hairy said:Holy crap😢 two years?!😲

Chill out. My ALT was sitting at 352, and hitting 36 is totally normal.
I’m pretty sure my birth control pills were the culprit, since every other test came back clean. When they suggested a liver biopsy, I just shut that whole idea down.
So, I still don't know what actually caused it, mostly because I wasn't exactly getting bloodwork done every single month. I mean, during that first month, I probably went in like 10 times, but that was mostly checking for mononucleosis, hepatitis, thyroid issues...
Since my ALT levels started dropping, I've just been checking in every six months.
😘 same to you

P.S. They tried to pin the whole thing on alcohol, but when I told them straight up I don't touch the stuff, they pivoted and blamed my smoking instead.
You could've eaten just about anything that messed with your hormones
maybe some meds
either way, you gotta keep an eye on them so they don't spike
mine didn't settle back down for two whole years, and honestly, I have zero clue what even caused the jump in the first place

That's heavy. Sorry for asking, sending you some love. 😘
hiddenheron78 said:I expect my doctor to lay out all the options, the procedure details, the potential risks, and the pros and cons for everything on the table. They should give me their professional opinion on the best path forward, but the final call is mine—something I’ll have to sign off on and live with the consequences of.

1. You're spot on. 👍
2. Also, if you're hanging out with doctors all day, how come you haven't hooked up with one yet😕?

Based on that logic, pretty damn short 🙄.
Plus, you aren't gonna accomplish anything in this life if coffee isn't pumping adrenaline through your veins.

There's always the backup plan where you pivot to being a full-time barista ☕🙂
