Look, here's the deal: I'm not the one who sent the package, I'm the guy waiting on it. I ordered a laptop from a company based out of Washington, D.C.—paid them upfront and everything—but it just never showed up. So, I gave them a call, then called the shipping company with my tracking number, and they basically admitted the thing is lost in the void.
After that, the shipping company reached out to the company I bought it from, and now those guys are telling me they've started an official investigation.
My biggest worry is that this whole process is going to drag on for like a month before they finally admit it's gone for good... Can I actually demand that the company just ships me a replacement laptop right now? I mean, they’re insured for stuff like this, so they'll either get a refund or a new unit anyway, right?
Can someone break down how this whole claim process actually works once you file a formal complaint? I sent a package via HP express worth $1000, and it was supposed to be here in two days, but it’s already been four. The post office basically admitted they lost it, so what kind of outcomes am I looking at here, and when should I realistically expect my money back or the shipment to turn up?

So basically, I went in thinking I had this massive double chin forming, but turns out I just put on a little weight and have this tiny little lump right under my jawline—my doctor told me it’s nothing, just a small node, totally fine. Honestly, I spent the whole time convinced I was gonna need some procedure to zap that spot under my chin, but yeah, turns out I was dead wrong about what was actually going on.

Then she finds this bigger one, maybe like an inch or so, sitting left of my Adam's apple and a bit deeper. I'm really hoping it's just a lymph node, especially since the biopsy sample ended up being mostly just pus. The crazy thing is, I didn't even feel it or know it was there until I went in to get that supposed "double chin" checked out.
I'm out on my Harley all the time, so I catch colds pretty frequently, and my throat doesn't usually act up, but now I can actually feel where she poked me, and it stings a bit when I swallow...

I'm hoping everything turns out alright, and yeah, obviously I'm staying calmer now. When she started mentioning shadows and nodes during the ultrasound, two other doctors crowded around me and I seriously thought my heart was gonna give out from the stress before any tumor could even touch me. But whatever, it is what it is.🙂

So, I think she mentioned something about the knot being outside the kidney, almost like it’s totally unrelated to her condition or whatever...
I didn't get a full blood panel, just the basic stuff—erythrocytes, leukocytes, the usual routine—and everything came back fine. She hasn't brought up hormones or anything else like that yet.

So I just got back from my biopsy. Basically, it looks like there's some kind of pus inside that node, like some random inflammation or whatever. The sample only showed pus, so does that mean I can totally rule out any kind of tumor or anything nasty? I tried asking the doctor who did the procedure, but she wouldn't give me a straight answer—just mumbled something about inflammation and maybe a salivary gland, nothing concrete at all. While the two doctors were talking during the ultrasound, I overheard them pointing stuff out, like "look at this node" and "see that shadow behind it, it's a hypoechoic node" and all that medical jargon crap. As for my thyroid, it’s not actually enlarged; the doctor just wrote that down because she was looking at someone else's report by mistake, so that part was just a mix-up from another patient. I got a second report, and the only thing flagged as abnormal is that specific node; the thyroid looks fine, just the dimensions are noted but it's not swollen. They also mentioned something about a cyst or something, and now I'm stuck waiting ten days for the final results.

While I'm sitting here waiting, what do you guys think this could be? If the sample is just pure pus, can I officially cross "tumor" off my list of worries?

Man, I guess that’s just how I am—I can't handle this heavy, serious medical stuff, especially when it's something as terrifying as cancer, and that's before I've even really started my life. I mean, I'm only 17 and I'm already dealing with kidney issues. While I was sitting there waiting for my ultrasound, it was nothing but women in their 50s and 60s all around me. Just my luck, honestly.🙂

So basically, things look pretty grim. I’m probably staring down the barrel of a bunch of meds and all that other crap...

Is there even a remote chance that once they biopsy this lump, everything turns out fine—like, zero tumors, zero cancer, and none of those hormones or pills I'd have to choke down? Is it actually possible for an enlarged thyroid to still function perfectly normally without causing issues?
God forbid they suggest radiation therapy; I swear to God, I won't let that garbage touch me.

To be honest, I wish I’d never even gone in for the checkup in the first place, because I've been dealing with this for about a year now—just this little bump under my chin that swells up depending on how much I eat or if it's summer or winter, and I haven't felt any symptoms. But whatever happens, happens.

About six months ago, I noticed this little lump starting to pop up under my neck. Honestly, I just figured it was because I’d been bulking up at the gym and eating more—thought maybe I just grew some muscle right under my jawline from hitting the weights harder—but apparently, that wasn't it. My blood work came back totally fine, everything sitting right in the normal range. Then, after a couple of days of worrying, I went in for an ultrasound yesterday, and here is what they found:

The right lobe measures 37x15x18.4mm, showing a non-homogeneous echostructure that is diffusely mildly hypoechoic with traces of isoechoic echoes; the posterior margin is irregular.

The isthmus measures 20x17x3.4mm and is mildly hypoechoic.

The left lobe measures 38x17.4x16.9mm and has a similar echostructure to the right lobe.

On the left submental side, there's a hypoechoic nodule measuring 26.5x22x20mm, separated by a hypoechoic border, and in the medial submental line, there's a sonolucent nodule measuring 6.5x4x5mm.
A general exam of the anterior neck region, including the jugular and supraclavicular areas, shows no other enlarged lymph nodes or abnormal growths.

Diagnosis: Left cervical lymph node
An ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) is required.

So now I'm sitting here wondering what kind of bullshit this actually means. It's not like I have some massive thyroid disease or something, right? What does it even mean when they say it's "diffusely enlarged"—is that a red flag that something is wrong, or can that actually be normal? To be fair, I've been under a massive amount of stress over the last two months because of some stuff, though that passed about three weeks ago. Could that have anything to do with it?
Like I said, I first noticed this half a year ago, if not longer, but I was convinced it was just weight gain or extra muscle mass from lifting heavier lately. Even now, I still feel like it might just be muscle since I can tense it up and make it pop out quite a bit...

Anyway, I don't have any typical symptoms of thyroid issues; I'm jittery, but I've always been like that—I can never sit still—and I'm not lacking willpower or feeling constantly exhausted (well, obviously I get tired if I haven't slept enough). I'm not in any pain, so I feel fine otherwise, I just noticed this thing under my neck and, well, here we are.

What am I looking at here?
How to get rid of chickenpox scars? in Health ·
I’ve got these four holes scarring my face... One is massive and totally obvious, another is slightly smaller, and then there are these two tiny ones. But even those little ones are pretty deep. They’re also kind of red, which just looks ugly as hell and makes them pop way too much on my skin.
I heard some brands have creams for this stuff, but I honestly don't know if they actually do anything for actual scarring, so if anyone has any advice...
To sue or not to sue? in Law ·
Is it actually possible that nobody has an answer for this??

Does anyone have any clue what kind of sentence that guy is looking at? We were just in court, and while he’s definitely getting hit with a fine, the judge wouldn't give me a straight answer on the amount. It’s just a case of misdemeanor assault—broken nose and all that crap.

So, some random dude straight up sucker-punched me out of nowhere last night and broke my nose. Doctors said the injuries are relatively minor, but still, man... Since the guy is an international traveler, I’m heading to court first thing tomorrow. I'm debating whether I should hire a lawyer and file a private lawsuit, but I have no clue how that even works when he's just visiting from Mexico. Like, can I actually claim some kind of headache or emotional distress to push for a settlement? And realistically, how much cash am I looking at potentially pulling in?
How to gain weight? in Health ·
Man, I’m the exact same height as you, maybe 6'0" or 6'1", and right now I'm sitting at about 150 lbs. Three months ago, I was down at like 134 lbs. My diet back then was basically just margarine and jam with two glasses of milk for breakfast, then maybe some pâté or deli meat before lunch, and then whatever my mom whipped up for dinner—honestly, I’d just eat pretty much anything she put in front of me. Around 4 or 5, I’d grab a toasted sandwich at school or some deli meat, and by 8 PM, I was absolutely stuffing my face like there was no tomorrow.

Around 11 PM, I’d go back for more margarine and jam and probably another half-liter of milk...

But yeah, I was hitting the weights at home too—pull-ups, squats, weights, sit-ups, push-ups, all that stuff...

I already hit up the admin to get your IP address. You’re officially on the FBI's radar now, and they’ll be pulling all your info from the service provider. Your parents will probably be getting a call from the local precinct or having the cops show up right at your front door

Good luck!

I honestly can't even wrap my head around this...
It’s been a while since I first posted here, and honestly, things haven't changed much with my grandpa—he's still in the same spot—but I just haven't been able to get the old man to actually see a doctor. I tried talking to my dad about how this kind of stuff could hit him or even me one day, and how we really need to know what we're dealing with instead of just guessing, but I've tried everything and it just doesn't work...
I feel like such a complete idiot just letting him go through this without doing anything more...

honestly, if you grab a decent 17-inch monitor with a high enough refresh rate, it can actually kick the teeth in of way too many LCDs out there

Regarding my grandpa’s quality of life, he’s out in rural Montana living with my grandma. Honestly, she’s a total rockstar—sharper than everyone else in the family combined. She handles everything for him, from meals to all the daily chores, while he mostly just manages to get himself to the bathroom, sleep, or wander off to tinker with stuff here and there. Most of the time, he’s totally dialed in and knows exactly what’s going on, but then he hits these sudden gaps—just those five minutes where he completely loses his grip on reality and doesn't even know where he is. Sometimes he looks at the TV and thinks there are actual people standing in the room with him, instead of realizing it's just a screen. He gets it most of the time, though. Like, I called him yesterday, and when I said, "Hey, Grandpa Sam Hall15," he had no clue who I was talking about. I told him I’d call back in ten minutes. When I actually did, he was like, "Oh, hey Sam Hall15! How’s school? How’s Dad doing?"

But look, regarding getting him checked out, we really should take him in so I can finally breathe easy. I'm hoping it isn't Alzheimer, but maybe something like multiple sclerosis or some other form of dementia that isn't as heavily hereditary or as devastating...

So, my grandpa is 80. Five years ago, he was totally fine, just his usual self... To make matters worse, for about the last six months, he’s been popping these circulation pills, but honestly, they don't seem to be doing squat...
My grandpa is starting to forget things in Health ·
My dad’s been seeing a few doctors already, but he wasn't really the one driving the conversation—he was mostly just poking around asking questions. They basically told him straight up that it’s that disease, there’s no cure for it, and we just need to make sure he doesn't wander off or get lost. They also mentioned he needs to stay active to keep his circulation going, thinking maybe better blood flow to the brain might help him function a little better. Now that we've dealt with all that...

WHAT ARE THE ODDS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO ME OR MY DAD???
ffs I'd honestly rather be dead than deal with this.
