Hair loss: Myths vs. Facts in Health ·
It’s pretty weird when you see a guy with a full head of hair who has two sons. One ends up with hair, and the other? Totally bald. ...

Blister on my heel in Health ·
I dealt with the same thing recently—blisters on my heel, probably from those heavy boots I wear. Didn't even bother changing shoes, obviously. Just squeezed them out, slapped some Band-Aids on, and powered through. Ended up with two right in the same spot, then just completely forgot about it all

You don't need to drag a doctor into this just because of a scrape; just handle it with whatever you've got in your home medicine cabinet. ... You really need to squeeze it to get all that gunk or whatever it is out. Then just slap a Band-Aid on it, keep things clean, and make sure you're wearing dry socks at all times.
Where can you even find those little kiosks near the coffee shops? Those are actually decent. There are also some beer coolers over at Walmart...
Not quite the same thing, though. You could argue it’s technically illegal.
It’s a similar story with the retail stores. They used to close strictly at 5 PM just so people wouldn't be out late grabbing snacks or smokes, especially since some shops stay open until 10 PM.
Charles Ramos7 said:That’s not even on the roadmap, honestly. Plus, the rules for restaurants are so strict they're basically turning them into glorified snack stands.

Oh sure, everyone will love sitting out on a patio with their coffee. What they aren't telling you is how the little cafes with tiny terraces—or none at all—are supposed to survive. Looks like they won't even be opening bars. Total discrimination. ...
When are the discos and nightclubs actually going to reopen? I see restaurants can stay open until 11 PM, but does that mean clubs aren't allowed to open at all?
Sorry if this is off-topic, just couldn't find the right spot to ask.

Out there, folks can travel across the states without much of a headache, but here—well, who actually knows when these blockades are going to clear up?
And even if they do finally budge, who’s to say how long we'll be stuck waiting through the aftermath?🥱

Trains run fine in other countries. ...
I don't get it. If someone actually needs to get back abroad and the cops stop them asking for some "permit," what are those poor people supposed to do?
These massage chairs are pretty great. Super comfy to sit in.
Still, they can't actually replace a real massage. If you really need one, just get someone with strong hands to rub it in. As for technique? Not sure if the machine even comes close.
Solstice in Health ·
Hey everyone. I dealt with two nasty cases of heatstroke this past summer. The first time, I was foolish enough to walk around without a hat for maybe 20 minutes, and by the time I got home, my head was absolutely splitting.
The second time, I stepped outside at work for just five minutes during the peak of the afternoon heat and got hit with the exact same thing. Later that night, when I tried to sleep, the nausea and fever hit me hard—I was shivering uncontrollably in bed even though it was mid-summer.
I was pretty naive back then; didn't bother seeing a doctor, which honestly, looking back, could have been fatal.

Is it becoming "normal" to get heatstroke just because summers are getting hotter, or am I just cursed? Between my pale skin and thinning hair, I guess I’m just a walking target for the sun. Any advice?
Taking the plunge... in Health ·
Evening, everyone. Figured I’d chime in here since this topic is pretty relevant given this heatwave we're stuck in. It's brutal out there today, and looks like it’ll stay that way for a while.

So, I went for a swim today. Naturally, I messed up. I usually dive headfirst, which is a bad idea, but when I actually try to build up some momentum and run toward the edge, it just turns into a total disaster.
My back is killing me now. Classic case of being careless.

Watch your backs before you end up like me. Today was a painful lesson: just jump in calmly and safely. No running starts, no acting like some Olympic diver. Just get in the water.
Itchy scalp help? in Health ·
Already saw a dermatologist. Big deal. He just told me to stick to mild shampoos. That was it.
The worst part is when I'm trying to sleep—the itching is unbearable. I think it's because I sweat during the night, since even a day or two ago while I was working and sweating, the itch was driving me crazy. 🤷

The issue is actually my skin. I've got dandruff in three different spots and nothing seems to touch it...

Actually, that's not "normal." I read somewhere that washing twice a week is the recommendation...
God, this is exhausting. Honestly, I'm over it. Sometimes the itching is so bad I wonder how I haven't gone completely bald yet.

I’ve been dealing with this exact same headache for about two years now. At first, dandruff was the main issue, but I managed to dial that back once I found some decent shampoos.
The only thing left is this damn itching. I’ve cycled through maybe five different brands, and it’s always the same story: my scalp feels great right after a wash, then a day or two later, I'm back to square one.

Does this mean I need to be washing my hair every single day, or am I looking at some underlying medical issue here?
Popping ears in Health ·
Could be sinus issues. I dealt with something similar last year—nose would clog up, and my ears would feel stuffed too. Especially in the morning; I’d wake up and couldn't hear a thing. Honestly, if you aren't feeling better soon, just head back to your primary care doctor. Have them send you for some actual testing.

Larry Walker24 said:I used to tell myself my teeth were fine too (even though I hadn't seen a dentist in 7 years). Then I show up and find cavity after cavity—even though they looked okay at first glance. Spent a few weeks getting everything patched up. Absolute nightmare.

I said I don't have any cavities...

How old are you anyway? Like, seven? If you're seven or younger, it’s not exactly shocking that you haven't been to the dentist in that long.
Jaw pain when chewing in Health ·
Yeah, you’re probably right. Thanks for the advice, though. It's most likely just a wisdom tooth trying to make its grand entrance.
I’d rule out a cavity for sure—can’t even remember the last time I had one, maybe five years ago? I brush regularly and take decent care of them.

I’m really not feeling the whole dentist visit, but like you said, I'll have to bite the bullet if the pain doesn't let up.

It's on my bottom jaw, right side, kind of towards the end, past the last tooth. I haven't seen a dentist in two or three years—honestly, I almost forgot where I even live... 😁

Lately, chewing has been pretty painful. At first, I figured it was just a tooth acting up, but looking closer, the pain is actually between the teeth—more like in the gums. Since I don't have any cavities, it doesn't seem like a tooth issue. Anyone dealt with this before? Should I go ahead and make an appointment with my dentist?
