Can you get results without supplements? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Well, I suppose if you're just starting out, throwing some protein shakes at your post-workout routine or adding creatine might give you a bit of an edge—maybe speed things up during those initial four or five months—but when you look at the long game? After years of training? In my opinion, it really all comes down to how you actually train and whether your body chooses to respond to that stimulus or not.

Supplements might give you a bit of a boost in the short term—it’s a nice little nudge, I suppose—but when you look at the long game, everything really boils down to how hard you're actually putting in the work at the gym and, well, whatever hand you were dealt genetically... if you ask me,
Commuting to work by bike in Cycling ·
It honestly feels to me like we're going to see a real surge in people biking to work—mostly because gas prices just keep climbing higher and higher every single day, don't they?
How can I improve my cardio/stamina? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
There really is no such thing as a "perfect" way to start—you can talk about the best gear or the best route all you want, but honestly? It doesn’t matter. Just get out there and run every other day if that's what you feel like doing. The goal isn't speed right now; it's just getting your body used to the movement—making it a habit, you know? Everything else sort of falls into place once that happens. Nobody just wakes up one morning and runs a marathon—not without some groundwork—and everyone starts with those small, simple jogs. There is plenty of time, so please, don't rush it. You won't find success by sprinting toward the finish line on day one.
Swimming vs. Running and Cycling in Hobbies & Leisure ·
The thing is—and I say this with nothing but respect—your swimming technique just isn't quite where it needs to be yet. If it were, you certainly wouldn't be finding yourself so exhausted all on your own
In truly efficient swimming, you’re engaging your entire body as one unit—it's a full-body movement, really. But most casual swimmers? They tend to rely far too heavily on just their arms and that repetitive pulling motion, which is exactly why they burn out so quickly. It all comes down to the technical details, doesn't it?
Alex Barnes8 said:I’m with you there. I have never quite understood the logic behind people waiting for the subway just to travel a single stop when they could easily walk—and honestly, it’s wild how many people find walking to be an unthinkable concept!😲

Personally, though—and I do wonder this quite often—what is even the point of taking the train if you're healthy enough to just hop on a bike? 🤷
For heaven's sake, why make things so complicated? Just pick something up—start moving, start burning some calories, get a good sweat going, build some muscle mass, and boost that basal metabolic rate in the process. It really isn't that deep.

People just don't seem to grasp that movement—running, jumping, swimming—is actually part of our nature. Nowadays, when you see someone out for a jog, people look at them like they’ve completely lost their minds. Even women struggle to imagine themselves running; there’s just no culture of physical activity anymore. Honestly, if a PE teacher tried to get kids to run or jump or climb a rope in an American school today, they’d probably get kicked out because the students wouldn't even believe that's what they were actually supposed to be doing.😲

Try going without video games for a few weeks—just a few. If you find you can't pull that off, then frankly, you've got a weak will, and you'll likely be struggling with your weight for the rest of your life. Once you've cleared that hurdle, just commit to a daily workout routine and you'll be back on top of your game 🙂

Seriously, can we please stop giving attention to these overly complex, high-maintenance kids? Don't you guys have anything better to do with your lives? 😉

I’m really not sure what your issue is with Ante Kostelić as a coach, to be honest.

I mean—if we accept the idea that there isn't such a thing as a single "perfect" way to raise someone—that you essentially become a product of your environment and learn to embrace it—then it follows that the most effective approach is simply instilling disciplined training habits in kids while they're still young. I don't see anything inherently wrong with that, do you?

Haha, New Year's resolutions... right? As if we haven't heard that one before.
How do I get in shape? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
If I could just toss in my two cents—and please, feel free to ignore me if you disagree—I truly believe that consistency carries far more weight than sheer intensity. It’s about showing up, isn't it? I mean, wouldn't it be better to get some light movement in every single day—whether that’s a quick bike ride through the neighborhood, a brisk walk, or even just a few sets of weights—rather than going all out for one massive, grueling session every three days and then doing nothing else?
If you find yourself lacking a little bit of love in your life—and let’s be honest, who isn't feeling that sometimes?—you can always just head over to a BBQ for some ribs and spend the whole time complaining about your breathing and that deviated septum of yours. I mean, why not? It’s practically a hobby at this point. As for me, I actually went to see Dr. Miller, and let me tell you—he fixed me right up. Top-tier service, truly first-rate.
Honestly, Chk Chk Chk was absolutely incredible—I danced my heart out—and the frontman's improvisation skills were just top-tier
For me, Alice in Chains was always just... intense. I used to find myself constantly jumping toward anything with a bit more edge—just chasing that sound—but when they finally hit the encore and played "Nutshell" and "Down in a Hole"? That was the absolute peak for me.

I honestly don't get why people keep insisting they're washed up or "old school"—I mean, haven't they been nominated for a Grammy for Best Live Performance this year?
I was wondering if anyone here has gone through nasal surgery specifically to fix airflow issues—basically, to stop that constant nasal resonance while speaking.

My voice sounds so muffled and dull, and honestly, I’d love to just get this operated on so I can finally stop talking through my nose. Has anyone actually dealt with this before?
Does anyone happen to know if there are any tickets left from that student quota?
So, I actually went through with nose surgery myself. I didn't head to a private specialist—instead, I handled everything through my insurance provider. Everything went quite smoothly; there’s been just a tiny bit of bruising and some swelling, but nothing too major—it’ll pass in time, I'm sure. For anyone who isn't looking to pay out of pocket for a private surgeon, I highly recommend going through your insurance—it didn't cost me a dime, really. A huge shoutout to Dr. Bilic, by the way—I can't recommend him enough.

She’s going on about antibiotics—honestly, her situation probably isn't even that severe since she hasn't tried Accutane, which actually gets the job done... just ask a dermatologist to prescribe you some Accutane and the problem is solved; there's really no need to get distracted by those kids or various e-books.
