To me, she looks great in chocolate colors, but in The Matrix, she looks like some greasy Android spit-out from The Source with oily hair. she looks like a boy but damn, she has a body (you see a bit of it in that red jumpsuit or something similar)
I’d buy a katana too, and I’d definitely spend some time playing around with it. Where can one get their hands on one? I’d love to go take out all those pre-election posters right away.
It’s actually quite similar... Goku and Neo are just naive kids playing with massive powers whereas Smith and Vegeta have that secret smirk, or that disbelief when they take a loss...
Betty Bennett10 said:Personally, I found it pretty terrible that Neo doesn't actually defeat the machines at the end, but instead just reaches some kind of truce with them. In the first movie, Morpheus explicitly states they are fighting to destroy the Matrix entirely.
(The only way I can make sense of this is if both the humans, Neo, and the resistance movement are all still being controlled by the Matrix itself.)
Also, why does Neo's victory over Smith serve as the condition for the war between machines and humans to end? 😕
And another thing—how is it that Neo isn't superior to Smith in the sequels when he was basically tossing him around with one hand at the end of the first film?😕
Morpheus is feeding him nonsense, and he’s clearly not smart enough if he actually believes in the "One"... Smith had to be taken out because he would have flooded both the machine world and the Matrix, so they had to get rid of him. Plus, the Smith from the first film isn't the same guy in 2 and 3; he leveled up... he was probably just coasting until he upgraded himself to a level slightly higher than Neo.
Richard Hernandez13 said:True, but we're talking about a five-day window. Over those five days, they lost $204 million globally.
Everything else was fine, except for being weak...
Yeah, but Reloaded alone pulled in over $120 million right here in the States during those five days,,, I wasn't saying it was weak overall,, just compared to those two...
A Duracell battery as a power source? Man, anything is possible... I could probably reconstruct the entire atmosphere if I had some glue and a broom... And *The Matrix* only pulled in $85 million here in the States? That’s pretty underwhelming...
I feel the exact same way for several reasons (especially that script), Val Kilmer playing an Elvis Presley impersonator, Brad Pitt being bullied, Hopper explaining to Walken why the Italians are so dark-skinned... Oldman acting like he's Jamaican... and Gandolfini just beating up an archetype.
I was looking for Roger Dodger, but he hasn't shown up yet (how on earth would you even translate that? It’s pretty obvious... or something like that) And "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the most pathetic translations out there... I was actually waiting for "Igby goes down" to arrive, and I didn't pay much attention to "Bohemian Rhapsody" until I took a closer look at the original English title.
Richard Hernandez13 said:fadedsailor932, was it just me, or did they credit the 'conductor' as an 'accountant' for the first time? 😁
They did. They translated conductor as accountant initially because the context shifted slightly... complete idiots. They clearly don't listen to what people are actually saying. btw, The Matrix started for me just a few minutes after 15:00... I guess it's not much of a world premiere anymore!
To those of you lucky enough to have your lives taken along with yours... Leave the limbs you've lost behind. They belong to me now.
O-Ren Ishii: Some silly American girl thinks she can handle a Samurai sword...
And here’s a bit from Pulp Fiction...
Jules Winnfield: What does Marsellus Wallace look like? Jules Winnfield: What? Jules Winnfield: [aiming his weapon] Say "what" again. SAY "WHAT" AGAIN! I dare you, I double dare you, motherfucker! Say "what" one more goddamn time! Brett: He's b-b-black... Jules Winnfield: Proceed. Brett: He's bald... Jules Winnfield: Does he look like a bitch? Jules Winnfield: What? Jules shoots Brett in the shoulder. Jules Winnfield: DOES HE LOOK LIKE A BITCH? Brett: NO! Jules Winnfield: Then why are you trying to screw him over like a coward, Brett? Brett: I didn't! Jules Winnfield: Yeah, you really did. You sure did, Brett. You tried to screw him. And Marsellus Wallace doesn't take kindly to being screwed by anyone, other than Mrs. Wallace.
It’s not just about him being against him; it’s that he’s a negative force in his life. One is fighting to survive, while the other is out to destroy everything living... It’s black and white. Good versus evil... I have to admit, there are some funny parts to this... it probably isn't even intentional humor.
I just picked up my tickets... wow, at twenty bucks a pop, that’s a steal for a world premiere. Besides, who even needs the EU when we're already watching massive blockbusters like this right here in America?
rapidstag74 said:Did you know samurai wouldn't sleep with their wives because they believed it drained their strength before a fight? Instead, they'd just pick a servant to handle that duty for them.
Totally off-topic... pfff
Well, I guess they were pretty picky about which servants they chose then.
I just finished an incredible movie; honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything this good. Feel free to borrow it—it's definitely worth carving out ninety minutes to sit back and enjoy. It’s quite unique because not a single shot is even fired (even though it's set right in the heart of New York City!)
At our local cinema, they’re playing Bad Boys 2, Hulk, Hell or High Water, Sati, and some other garbage... but Kill Bill arrives on November 6th... Is it actually true that Revolutions is coming to theaters here next week? Unless my buddy flakes on me, we'll just end up watching it on DVD.
I mean, what's the chance of finding this on DivX or maybe seeing it show up in video rental stores? [/B]
It’ll definitely hit the rental stores. First off, it got a ton of media buzz here in the States, and besides, if they brought out The Virgin Suicides, then this one is coming too..
casualotter21 said:Look, I can only say two things in response to that:
1) If I could actually *borrow movies from a video rental store*, I’d be doing it.
2) Even if mainstream Hollywood movies suck, they just need to be good enough to satisfy my need for entertainment (which, let's be honest, is a pretty low bar).
It feels like I'm just talking to myself here... Do you happen to know if there's any way to get Cowboy Bebop as a series rather than just the movies? As for those weirdos... they should have just been given their own dedicated cable channel, so we could just spend all day watching anime, movies, and stuff like that.
