Kill Bill Vol. 1 in Movies ·
casualotter21 said:The first thing I said when we walked out of the theater yesterday was, "Guys, are we seriously aware that we just watched the most expensive adaptation of a ninja novel in history?" The movie looks exactly like those posts on the "Let's Make Our Own Ninja Novel" thread on American literature forums. The characters deliver lines so predictable that I could guess the rest of the sentence halfway through. They say things that are completely ridiculous with such deadpan seriousness, which makes it even
funnier for me. Blood flows in rivers. Action... non-existent.
Characterization... zero. Just blood and killing and mush, and it has so much cheese it's all over the screen.

The movie is total crap, as my Singaporean friend would say, not like some Japanese womanQ!
My friends and I were totally wired after the movie; I haven't seen such a hellish film in a long time.-

Gnn, am I losing my mind or is it totally fine that I’m crushing hard on Gogo Yubari? I know she’d probably murder me, but man, she was just so cute...

The worst part is that the second installment will likely be serious and "normal," but this is hands down the best flick a ninja could ever ask for. Tarantino is the man!

The trailer is alright with me; I've seen plenty of them, but I'm not exactly missing anything here.

Pirates and Kill Bill

So, what did Niech Schmidt release this year?
Never mind, everyone in America showed up this year anyway...

Sophia Evans76 said:Most of the movies you guys listed came out last year (except for Gary Sanchez, who listed stuff from the early 2000s)... It’s weird how much of a delay there is with the US releases... 😕

At least three films on my list are from 2003, and I watched the other two just this year.
A lot of these movies arrive later, yet some actually drop before their global premieres, which is strange regardless...

The Pianist
Pirates—they were just a blast to watch.

The screening at the Atlantic Ocean Cinema had out-of-sync audio during Finding Nemo...

casualotter21 said:Ah, shoot, I was actually going to ask if I could put that in my signature. Oh well. In any case, looks like I'm not the only one hyped for The Last Samurai. 😁

To stay even slightly on topic—MAN, I CANNOT WAIT TO REWATCH KILL BILL!

I have no idea what you were planning to put in your signature...
My avatar is staying the same until the US premiere, though I might switch it up for the holidays... and how could anyone *not* be hyped for The Last Samurai? It’s got "Samurai" in the title, Tom Cruise plays a samurai, he's in Japan acting as a samurai, it's set in the 19th century, it's a serious film, features a hot bar scene and a hot Japanese woman, etc.

Yeah, Kill Bill.
I can't wait to go watch it again either, because I simply must. But it wasn't exactly a difficult decision...

And apparently, it only made 24 million, supposedly because of those snowy blizzards in The Last Samurai.
Plus, it's a story about honor and courage all wrapped into one man, ahm1_...

Actually, no—just look at his last post on this thread before I added my two cents. It’s not even a big deal... and I'm definitely not an alcoholic, just occasionally... 🙂

As for Kill Bill... 👍 😎

I'm starting to think Scary Movie 3 might actually be decent, and the Wayans brothers definitely have their thing going (even if they just rely on drug jokes and racial stereotypes, which aren't even funny),,,,but hey, maybe the third one will be better, though I highly doubt it,,, those stupid trailers are always way too well-made.

ahm Kill Bill rules big time.... 🙂

For me, the standout track is "Boots" by Nancy Sinatra... how long is the total runtime for the album?

last night, and I can't stop smiling.
absolutely perfect 🙂

and I've been listening to the soundtrack all afternoon 😁

Do you have the soundtrack? How much does it cost at a local shop if you bought an original copy?

beer, depression...
and tears... ah, too many memories for a script like that.

slyowl9 said:I caught the premiere yesterday and honestly, the movie was 👍

What really bothered me was the crowd at the theater. It felt like they either missed the jokes entirely or took everything way too seriously, because there were parts where absolutely nobody laughed (except maybe me)... such a weird vibe

I was laughing, but mostly just stifling it because I didn't want to be "that person" bothering everyone else (so I just hide behind my jacket and grin)
(There was this one guy who finally caught the joke a bit later and started howling with laughter, but hey, at least someone enjoyed it)...
Half the people didn't get it at all, though some clearly loved it... I have a feeling the sequel might go a more serious, realistic route. We'll see...

Um, regarding that Scary Movie 3 trailer... it looks like it's parodying a scene from the movie *The Others*... a woman is looking for her daughter, and someone is hiding under a sheet in the room; she pulls the sheet back and it's Michael Jackson... it feels a bit creepy, like he's a predator or something, and then he goes... I haven't finished it yet... but she's just a little girl!!!

rustybison12 said:That’s just facts... most people don't even realize what makes a Tarantino movie funny... personally, I was cracking up several times, but I doubt the general audience even caught half of those hilarious bits...👍

The humor is baked into every single frame...
Gogo Yubari... "or is it I who have penetrated you?"
The tracksuits
The finger movements
The hospital scenes (man, people in a coma have it rough)
"Trix are for kids"
That sound effect when they fight and you hear the wind whistling from their punches
"Silly Caucasian girls play with samurai swords"
When limbs get sliced and blood sprays everywhere like a fountain
When he beats up the kid and just lets him go home
And that specific font used during the wedding massacre
When he shows up at Hattori Umam's and acts like he doesn't know a word of Japanese
There is honestly so much of it.

casualotter21 said:See? I told you! Who actually goes to see a movie in the middle of the night? It’s nothing but those pretentious goths who are so lost in their own angsty, romanticized little worlds that they completely lose themselves in Tarantino! I want to watch a film when the crowd shows up—you know, the real crowd wearing shirts that say "EVERYONE ROLL INITIATIVE" or "MY OTHER CAR IS THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!" I want people laughing and arguing about whether Sailor Moon was sexier in the original series or the reboot...

Yeah, I saw that they were screening it at the theater then. Honestly, I can't wrap my head around the logic—why show a massive blockbuster in just one single auditorium at 8:30 PM? They might want to check with the crowd and see if anyone actually wants to catch a movie at that hour early next week...

How much are tickets? I heard the prices go up during that so-called "premiere week"... $12 Personally? That feels like a bit much if I can just catch the same movie in the same theater for... $6.75.

Maybe I’m a little bit weird, but I prefer catching movies in the middle of the night. It's the only way to avoid those obnoxious kids who spend the entire runtime laughing like idiots or scrolling through their phones with the brightness turned all the way up. Last time I went to a late screening, there was this one absolute moron sitting just a few rows behind me, right under the projector. He kept waving his arms around trying to make shadow puppets on the screen—except the projector was ten feet above his head, so obviously nothing happened. Then he started stretching out his wool beanie, thinking that would somehow cast a shadow on the screen too... it didn't. Honestly, I couldn't help myself; I spent half the movie looking back and forth between the screen and this kid, just cracking up... that's exactly why I stick to the late shows... plus a few other things... man, if only there were more crowds made up of people like that...
I don't really care what time the show starts... the venue was packed, and the ticket was... $8.25 That's just a sneak preview at the local AMC...
Some idiots actually commented asking why I even bothered watching this movie... honestly, what a bunch of clueless losers. It’s like they think Hulk Hogan belongs in an Oscar race or something. Anyways, you all need to watch Kill Bill Vol. immediately.

casualotter21 said:UUGGHHH! I called my aunt while she was working the register on Broadway yesterday, and you won't believe what she told me. Apparently, the movie doesn't even start playing regularly in our local theaters until next Thursday! Like, what do people actually expect from me? That I’ll just show up there with a bag of mashed potatoes?

Well, yeah, I made that same kind of mistake three weeks in a row before I finally remembered it was showing at the AMC theater and went to see it.
I already mentioned on the Nick Fury thread that it was playing there. You really should have paid closer attention.
Anyway, it plays every day at 10:15 PM and midnight.
hey!

Sukeeeee
I just finished this movie and blasted the soundtrack, and honestly? It’s easily the best thing I’ve seen all year (out of about 20 theatrical releases I've caught lately)
The animation is top-tier
The dialogue hits perfectly (though there’s less talking and more action, sitting right in that sweet spot between Kung Fu flicks, trashy cult classics, and Spaghetti Westerns)
You get Uma with a katana, then Lucy Liu swinging a blade, then this hot Japanese girl in a school uniform wielding a club... tons of blood, set in Japan, Sonny Chiba showing up as Hattori Hanzo, a sword capable of cutting through God himself, revenge... did I mention the blood already?
Also, a fair warning to everyone: don't pass out from the intensity (you might actually faint)
There are so many damn cool moments that I was practically jumping out of my seat; it feels stupid even trying to review this, you just have to experience it.
And of course, the tracksuit, the scene with the Black woman, and then hiding from the girl—man, this movie is 😲
Oh, I can't forget when they mention Umino (Black Mamba)—they use the actual name in the film and it just goes BEEP (which is another killer touch)...
Go go Yubari with that penetration... absolutely brilliant... seriously, go watch it... twice if you have to.

That is so not the real world man!!!!!!!!!!~~~~

The real world is the world that has been pulled over your eyes (by American propaganda) to blind you from the truth.
