We really need to start handing out punishments from the very beginning The people who actually committed the murder didn't just stumble out of their front doors for the first time that night, nor was this their first violent outburst or street brawl. If they hadn't already served a month in juvenile detention, followed by three months later on, they’d be thinking completely differently and acting a whole lot more disciplined. Someone needs to remember that parents actually carry a damn amount of responsibility here; if we slapped them with a $667 penalty when their kid is wandering the streets at 11 PM, things might actually start looking a little different. And so on and so forth. If we’re only going to act shocked when a full-blown homicide occurs, then we might as well stop pretending to be surprised altogether right now and just accept the reality that being out after dark is dangerous, and that eventually, someone is going to rob you, beat you up, or maybe even kill you.
Look, it’s pretty simple—we’re here to talk about one specific topic, and trying to drag in some other random subject isn't actually helping anyone get anywhere.
Look, you’re being harsh on yourself, and honestly, it feels like what you actually need is some kind of work—not just any job, but something where you can actually prove to yourself that you’ve got substance and aren't just "taking up space" but even your own posts, which are actually pretty coherent if you think about it, seem to suggest otherwise now, I’m the type of guy who usually tells people to take up martial arts, but for you, I’d suggest something else entirely, something meant to sharpen your focus and help you master some self-control maybe a competitive shooting sport, or even woodworking... as for the whole looks thing, trust me when I say you’re probably your own worst critic; most people out there couldn't care less about whether or not you're going to win some local beauty pageant the reason people mess with you isn't because they're mean, it's because they can smell that you're unstable—they see how easy it is to knock you off balance, whether you shut down, fly into a rage, or just do something incredibly stupid you really have to get it through your head that you have inherent value, and that shouldn't be subject to change based on the opinion of someone you barely even respect once you wrap your head around that, you'll find that the world starts treating you a lot differently because right now, you're acting like a total jerk—and if you keep that up, that’s exactly how everyone is going to see you
Honestly, I’m just sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out what actually works or where this could even go, but I'll be real with you—I'm coming up empty Luckily, the weight of the decision isn't solely on my shoulders, but the whole concept hinges on capturing a specific vibe regarding who is involved and what we're actually talking about here. The idea itself sounds pretty interesting on paper, but I just don't see any concrete metrics or enough activity to justify launching a brand-new subreddit and expecting people to actually show up and hang out there. Everything we've managed to pull off so far has basically been a "catch-all" situation—just one big bucket for everything under the sun.
I mean, I shouldn't seriously have to constantly tap you on the shoulder—or wherever else you like being poked—just so you don't end up feeling neglected, right? 😁 Let's just see how this thread performs first and get a sense of what other topics might actually be worth our time before we make any big calls. The whole idea of opening up an entire sub-Reddit before even checking if there's actual interest in the subject feels a bit backwards to me, if I'm being honest.
My bad, totally slipped my mind to let you know that your partial payment is still sitting there and will be staying that way for a little while longer
The poll is officially closed until we can get some fresh blood on board, I’m asking nicely that you send any requests for interventions here or via DM
Look, it might feel like we’re being stubborn or difficult, but honestly, we aren't actually as quick to hand out permanent bans as people sometimes make it seem, even if it looks that way from the outside. On the bright side—and I mean this sincerely—nobody can really claim they weren't given a fair warning first.
Usually, when you set up a new sub-forum, there’s already a specific crowd and a set of core topics that justify its existence in the first place, right? It’s common sense. But here, the vibe feels more like we're just throwing a door open and seeing what happens, which is a bit weird because we haven't even figured out what actually belongs in there yet. Based on everything that’s been laid out so far, this could end up being anything from a catch-all miscellaneous section to a dedicated off-topic lounge—though, honestly, those types of sections already exist.
So, naturally, I have a few questions and some requests for clarification if anyone’s willing to explain the logic here.
try taking this approach instead: just state your actual opinion, stick to the topic at hand, and if you see someone trolling or trying to start a flame war, just hit the report button once you sink into a debate that lacks any fundamental logic, you run the risk of becoming part of the very crowd that’s cluttering up the thread
ps. also, commenting on the moderators or how things are being handled within specific threads isn't allowed either it would be a real shame if you ended up getting a warning too
look, people, please try to learn this once and for all: when you feed the trolls, they just end up swarming around you even more than before
briskpuma23 said:Lisa Hernandez3, I’m just starting the conversation here. Honestly, I’m surprised no one else—especially someone from the LGBTQ+ community on Reddit—has brought this up yet.
When I started this thread, I didn't sit down and map out exactly how a subforum like this should function.
Besides, I don't really feel like it's my place to judge or force my own vision on everyone.
I actually like the direction you and Matthew Grant9 are taking with it, so I'm following your lead. We'll just have to see what this place eventually turns into.
Back when this was first being discussed—way before it became an issue—I was actually against it. I think I made my reasoning pretty clear: I have no interest in helping build ghettos, period. LGBTQ+ individuals don't pay their bills differently, they don't love differently, and they aren't dealing with some magical set of problems that isn't shared by anyone else in society. If someone suggested opening up a specific town in the States exclusively for the LGBTQ+ population, it would—quite rightly—be met with massive backlash as blatant discrimination and social exclusion. My questions here are simply trying to understand the logic behind why this needs to be different from the rest of life, and why it shouldn't just exist within the general forums like everything else. And as for this whole "moral obligation" argument—give me a break, please, spare me the sermonizing. 🙂
briskpuma23, you got any specific topics swirling around in that head of yours, maybe some alternative perspectives on how this... thing could play out?
So, from what I’ve gathered so far, the idea is that they’re opening up a subforum where basically anyone can start a thread about whatever random thing pops into their head, and then we just let the forum members descend into total chaos debating it?
If people spent just a little more time actually reading for comprehension and a lot less time being generally malicious, I honestly think our lives would be a whole lot smoother
Christian Taylor3, someone needs to call the moderators immediately!! Look, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be difficult here, but I simply don't have the bandwidth to go sprinting across the site every single time some random user decides to pick a fight in a thread somewhere If the mods are just sitting on their hands and ignoring the chaos, then you should probably flag it so one of the supermods or an admin can actually step in and deal with it once and for all
Look, two posts in a row doesn't exactly qualify as stalking, and I’m certainly not seeing any blatant insults here, so let’s be real—if someone actually has a problem, they should just report the post to the moderators or send a private message instead of making a scene. I have a feeling you'll find some way to survive the accusation of being a clone, too. 🙂
