Flat feet help? in Health ·
brightcrane5 said:Hey everyone!

So, I've dealt with flat feet since I was a kid—just one of those things I never really thought twice about back then—but lately, it’s started getting a little annoying... mostly because when I'm out walking, my feet just seem to roll inward quite a bit.

I was wondering about a few things.
1. Is it actually possible to fix this kind of thing once you're an adult just by doing some exercises?
2. If I go see an orthopedist through my insurance, does that cover anything, and what's the deal with the cost of orthopedic inserts?

Look, there are definitely foot exercises out there to strengthen those muscles, but I wouldn't bet the house on it being a 100% fix... I doubt it.

I went to see my doctor and she basically told me that unless you're under 18, the insurance isn't covering the cost of the inserts.

Personally, I ended up just buying my own custom ones—they take a mold of your foot and everything—and man, they work. My feet feel way more level now.
Recommendations wanted - I know a great one... in Psychology ·
Plus, I run into these people basically every single day, and they’ll just spout off advice about what’s "the best" without even giving it a second thought—they don't care if it's actually good, they just want to feel like they're dropping some big recommendation...
Honestly, yeah, it's wild how people work.

When I give recommendations, I try to be as grounded as possible. I always tell them, "Look, go ahead and check it out, do your homework, call them up, look around, and you'll see for yourself."
I'm not about to just walk in here and hype something up when a thousand other people have already trashed it...
But seriously, so many people will rave about things that are nowhere near reality. Sure, perception is everything, but some of these people are just swinging from one extreme to the other...
Why do some people just cave to peer pressure? in Psychology ·
Let me shake things up here for a second.

1. Most people are just desperate to blend in with the crowd.
2. You’ve gotta find a partner, get hitched, and then hit the final milestone: having kids. If you don't? Oh, the comments start rolling in immediately: "What's even the point of living?" or "Who's gonna take care of you when you're old?" or "You're letting the family line die out." It's constant.
3. But even after you check all those "socially acceptable" boxes, the performance isn't over yet.
4. Once you've played the part, the gossip begins—people sticking their noses into your business and trying to "fix" problems that aren't even theirs.
5. Most people just buckle under the pressure and cave to the groupthink. Eventually, after fighting these forced "rules" for a while, you just get exhausted. Your senses go numb to all these supposed "societal norms."

And honestly? You become society's biggest enemy the moment you actually start saying what you think. A few people might see your value, sure, but the rest? They'll cast you out.
I still think we’re a pretty primitive species, though. Just when we finally manage to level up intellectually, either the world ends or some AI takes over our jobs anyway, leaving us to just go through the motions...

It would be wild to see how everyone would act if we lived within some minimal social framework but still had enough "breathing room" to actually express our freedom.

The only truly "free" places left on this planet where you can actually be accepted are internet forums and stuff like that. But even then, it's only partially free. It's still miles away from true individual thought, which we mostly keep bottled up inside. When we open our mouths to others, we end up spitting out censored versions of ourselves. Since we're basically programmed and trained to tell people exactly what they want to hear, we get these little ego boosts in return. It's a trade-off.

From everything I see and hear, the only real defense against this whole circus is ignorance. If you haven't mastered the art of ignoring bullshit yet, you eventually will. You adapt, or you break.
Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
Hey there, fellow hemorrhoid sufferers, 🙂 I’m going through the same hell right now. I went to see my doctor, and she just smeared some Vaseline on her finger and shoved it in, 😁 which honestly left me throbbing for a few hours afterward...
Anyway, the moment she pushed her finger in—ouch. If I'm reading this right, that means I've got internal ones or something, right?

The real kicker is that after I go to the bathroom, I get this nagging sensation like I didn't quite finish the job. Then, when I actually manage to clear out, it's a total disaster for the first five minutes; I can barely walk straight. Things finally settle down after about 15 minutes or so.

Basically, for the last two days since my last bout, I've had this constant urge, like I need to go, but there's absolutely nothing to unload...
I used to struggle with external ones too, but those seem fine for now.

When I told the doc that I still feel that "phantom urge" after I'm done, she suggested I should probably get a rectoscopy (knock on wood, I hope it's not bad)...
To be clear, there's no bleeding, and my stool looks normal color-wise, though there is some mucus present...

I was dealing with some really hard stools for a while, and now I'm basically paying the price for that.
Honestly, I think I'd much rather deal with external ones than these internal ones...
The doctor gave me a referral for the rectoscopy, and I told her straight up that I just want this fixed once and for all, so it's better to just go in and see what the actual situation is.

Hey guys, quick question—is the length pretty much identical for every single card in the 5770 series?
How to schedule a urology appointment? in Health ·
Honestly, it doesn't even matter which hospital you pick, it all comes down to which urologist you actually end up seeing
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
How much RAM are you guys actually burning through, assuming you aren't absolutely murdering your OS?
From what I can tell, I’m hitting upwards of 1.12GB on my 2GB setup, and that's just with a couple of programs running in the background... It looks like Firefox is the main culprit when it comes to hogging memory...
Looks like I’m gonna have to cough up some cash for another 2GB of RAM.

Hey guys, I need a hand here. I'm getting this message saying "volume in drive C is no label"... basically just telling me there's no label on my C drive.
Can someone actually explain what the hell that means?
Windows 7 in Software ·
Look, I just happened to stumble upon one version that wouldn't boot—it was specifically built as an upgrade from Windows, you know? Every other version I tried worked perfectly fine...
Windows 7 in Software ·
How’s everyone’s Wi-Fi holding up on laptops running Windows 7 build 7048 x86? Because honestly, mine is driving me absolutely insane. The connection just straight-up vanishes out of nowhere, and I’m stuck having to run the "diagnose and repair" routine just to get back online. It feels like such a massive hassle since there isn't even a clear rule for why it happens. If that doesn't fix it, I guess I’ll just start messing around with different drivers and see if that actually does anything...

Hey, just bumping this thread for a sec. Does anyone know if I can find a high-quality, synced version of Kung Fu Panda online? tnx
Which antivirus should I use? in Software ·
Man, you don't even need all that. There’s a patch for Norton out there—I grabbed it ages ago, just forgot to mention it. Just do a quick Google search, snag the patch, and boom, your Norton stays good for a hell of a long time.👍

Just wipe the slate clean: set your computer's system clock ten years into the future, install Norton, and then flip the calendar back to normal.
That should do the trick. 😁

Honestly, ESET NOD32 is easily one of the top-tier choices, if not straight-up the best out there👍
