Against the Wall in Movies ·
This movie is way too good to let you miss out on... I’d honestly go with you, but four times is pushing it!

Enjoy it!

"The Wall"

It's playing at the local arthouse theater right now for $6.75, but honestly, it's worth at least 200
I’d give its five-star rating a solid seven

Standing behind the bar, a little buzzed
Messing with myself and everyone else just a bit
Sipping some bourbon, lighting up a smoke
With good friends, my most loyal crew.

I’m not the type to sit around whining
I don't have you anymore, so what can I do?
I'll just head home later on
After I grab one more drink on the fly.

You can't be crazy enough to feel ashamed
For kicking me out of paradise
At least smile when you see me passing by
Stay true to being a rebel until the end.

I know, I won't be able to sleep for long
These endless, cursed nights
How wrong everything feels without you
Not even a drink can fix this.

You can't be crazy enough to feel ashamed
For kicking me out of paradise
At least smile when you see me passing by
Stay true to being a rebel until the end.

RIBLJA CORBA: DREAMING OF YOU ALL NIGHT

Whenever someone tries to totally screw with me
They just ask how you're doing
And suddenly, I start losing my cool
And lying—just straight-up, shameless lying
So I say

I never actually cared about you
That I cheated on you more times than I can count
As if I'd die over someone like that
And I lie, just lying through my teeth.

Then I retreat to my room
And it feels as peaceful as a grave.
So I head back to my room
Pretending everything in my life is perfectly fine.
Then I slip away to my room
And all night long, all night long, I dream of you.

RIBLJA CORBA: A TOTAL NUTCASE

Outside, the city is just a tiny speck
Waiting for my favorite idiot
Just me and the cop on duty
Out here in the middle of nowhere.

I honestly wonder what I was thinking
Stepping out into this storm
Drinking in the rain, just drinking in the rain
I don't even recognize myself anymore.

Everything promised me bliss, but there's a storm outside
Things are getting worse as the wind starts howling.

I’d be a total nutcase if I stayed by your side
You never realized just how much you meant to me.

I’d be a total nutcase if I stayed by your side
You put me through so much, I'm just completely done with you.

Like a heartache, like a myth, like an absolute truth, it all feels
Like black and white, like something surreal
Like a single drop of rain
Like a word, a legend, a challenge—that's when you show up
So cold, distant, and vague, like a transparent ghost

I just don't have the strength to let go quietly anymore

I don't have the will to gift you any more dreams
All I want is to forget you
And offer you a smile as one last blessing

For the road

And so you walk, thinking and remembering, as if moving through smoke
The first snowfall, so soft and airy, like a white veil
Like a voice, a trace, the vanishing of a single dream
Let some foolish emptiness reflect in those eyes

I just don't have...

There, included the chords so the kids can have some fun Honestly, this is one of the best lyrics—and maybe even songs—from this part of the country, at least in my book
Best cover albums of all time? in Music ·
I really dig this latest one from Pips, I think Yaya put it together... personally, I love covers like this, if it weren't for the singer's photo being right there...

And honestly, I was just as fascinated by that one from White Stripes with the buttons...

But who knows, most of my collection is just heavy stuff, so I don't really pay much attention to how different covers look.
Exactly!

AMC sucks!!!!

Don't go there. It's the worst. People are literally spitting on your popcorn, and they're drugging you in the theaters with... something.🙂

Bad and just plain bad.

You steal some tomatoes here, potatoes up there, corn on the cob down on the right, maybe a zucchini or a carrot, then grab whatever you need from your own garden and boom—you've got a stew... though it's not really a stew without the meat.😁

brightscout63 said:Hmm... I’ll take your critique with a grain of salt, though. It's still the Coen brothers after all.

Nooo, those aren't the Coens. The real Coens were kidnapped and now they're digging ditches on Mars for some robot, while the "Koyens" are the ones making these gross movies... I just can't believe the actual Coens would ruin such a great idea.👎

From the perspective of a woman dealing with a sore neck, back, and every single joint (especially my ankles)...
It was actually great, though mostly because of the crew that squeezed into that tiny old sedan for the few hours of driving to the river, rather than just the show itself. At one point, we were all out drinking behind the local community center (not bragging, the point will come later), because according to old traditions—mostly among the guys—you have to drink, drink, and drink some more for a concert to truly count. Ha-ha-ha.
We stormed into the venue full throttle and dragged ourselves as close to the stage as possible. I honestly have no clue who played or in what order. I didn't care; as long as it was loud and I could headbang away... It was interesting, though, because I spent most of the set stuck in those "mosh pits," simply too drunk to realize people were shoving me around, forgetting my whole "non-violent concert listening" technique. Luckily, there was always a friendly hand nearby to grab me and pull me up off the floor during the intense moments. The highlight, naturally, was Laufer. He was the main reason we even showed up to this festival. Hearing those old songs live was genius; watching Urban scream his heart out... man, it brought it all back. Those years when we used to sneak around corners and talk using nothing but song lyrics—back when everyone was in a band and you were a total legend if you played the worst instrument in the worst garage band... well, Urban, son, may you live long and stay creative. At one point, a head swung right through my legs and suddenly I found myself a meter and a half off the ground... I used to look at those "pit riders" like they were complete idiots (I mean, why bother crashing into people?), but in that moment, I finally understood the thrill. Yeah, yeah, it’s pretty great...
Anyway, we left just as chaotic as we arrived, completely soaked and smelling like a mix of sweat and beer, and (surprise, surprise) we kept the party going. Interestingly, at one point, those little girls from the local daycare almost ran us over while they were pulling out of the parking lot—honestly, who gave them a driver's license?
Then, somewhere between 3 and 5 in the morning, Alen (or maybe Alan?) approaches us. He went from looking like a perfectly nice punk to... well, just a frustrated, racist veteran of the punk scene. He offers us beers, yet wouldn't give us a single cigarette to roll a joint. Terrible. I actually felt bad for him by the end; the guy has been playing for twenty years and claims he didn't even get free beer from the organizers. Such a shame, but at least the man got to vent all that frustration he's been carrying... oh well...

As for us? Nothing much, we watched the sunrise from that same cramped car before hitting the road. I counted 14 bruises on my body, a stiff neck, and the occasional seeing stars... but you can survive anything if you have enough alcohol, right? 😁

R. E. M.

I still remember the day I smashed my piggy bank—and my brother’s too—just to head down to the one local music shop in town. I walked in there soaked to the bone, sounding totally unsure of myself while asking for a
"R. E. M."
tape. "Who?" asked the guy behind the counter, sporting the most ridiculous mustache and the saddest hair I've ever seen.
"R... E... M..." I tried again, my voice cracking just a little.
"Look, I don't have any 'R-E-M' here, and neither does anyone else, because that band probably doesn't even exist... haha, you're actually trying to pull a prank on me? Yeah, I see how it is..."
"I'm sorry, do you maybe have R. E. M.?"
"Ah, well, we definitely have them. They're a total classic, you know..."

I didn't dare step foot in that shop again for a whole year.😁
Anyone seen Darren Aronofsky's Pi (1998)? in Movies ·
Darren Aronofsky is a genius!!!🙏

I actually have his work on DVD, 🙂 though I haven't watched it in months because it's always being passed around between friends.

It's such an incredible movie—one of those films (like *Being John Malkovich*) that just sticks with you. You remember everything: the scenes, the score, all those tiny details.
There's this claustrophobic vibe to it, too. At one point, I felt so uneasy watching it... I actually got chills.
