northernsailor said:Also, that one photo you posted—the black one with the smoke figures? It’s way too good...
If those were actual anti-smoking ads on TV, nobody would even realize they're supposed to be against smoking haha

Look, everyone’s a genius when it comes to whining about how smoking is bad, but nobody ever asks the real question: why the hell does everyone smoke in the first place?

Lisa Morales4 said:Bradley Diaz48, did nobody ever teach you ANGER MANAGEMENT ?!!

There are plenty of ways to deal with being pissed off... and lighting up a cigarette is at least one of them. 😳

That’s just total BS. What kind of "anger management" nonsense is that? Pure Western crap. Look, when your engine overheats because some part died and you have to wrench on it for six hours—after you've already spent six hours fixing the damn thing this month alone—you're gonna smoke through an entire pack in an hour. What's a guy supposed to do in those moments? Count sheep on a pillow? Try meditation?? No, you just work on that damn car. (Never buy a Dodge Spirit.) Or when nothing is going right? You try to stay calm, but it just doesn't work. So now we're supposed to sit there and think about how to control our rage? That's why I say, best thing is to light up five or six of 'em just to take the edge off, otherwise you're gonna blow a fuse.

Look, I’ve actually come up with my own theory on why smoking is actually good for you. Basically, it’s healthy. Seriously. It’s a hundred times better to just light one up than to hold it in and go off on everyone around you. Like, when you don't get paid for overtime or your car breaks down again and you have to shell out three hundred bucks, then the bill hits and you have no clue where the money went—in that moment, it's way healthier to just spark a couple of cigarettes instead of losing your mind and throwing a fit.

All that talk about how smoking is bad for you, the rising prices, and all that other junk is just total nonsense. The reality is people will always prioritize buying cigarettes over putting food on the table. Addiction is way stronger than anyone wants to admit.

So here it is: 🤔 thirteen months since I finally kicked the habit. 🙂 🙂 👋 🙂 I’ve saved over a thousand bucks 🙂 and honestly, it just happened. One night, I was chain-smoking and realized I’d torched fifteen cigarettes straight. I told myself, "Alright, that's way too much, tomorrow I'm done." So there went day one. Then I figured, why not day two? And day two passed. 🤔 Once I hit forty-eight hours without a smoke, I pushed for another two. That was over a year ago.
Before this, whenever I tried to set a specific quit date, I failed every single time. My brother even bought me those nicotine gums, but man, that stuff is a drag. You chew one, wait two minutes, bite down again, wait two more... it's constant. It actually used to piss me off and make me want to light up even more.
Now? It’s like I never even touched a cigarette. Like I've never even seen one.
I feel so much better. I can sprint three hundred meters without gasping for air. Titemi doesn't bother me at all.
America vs. Denmark: 28-26 in Other Sports ·
I already know how this goes. We’ll spend most of the game suffering, staring at the scoreboard, and then out of nowhere, we absolutely demolish the Danes in ten minutes and call it a day.
Keith Wilson81 said:because Americans would rather hit up Mexican clubs. My cousin said it’s the same deal in Canada and Australia... but I’m not trying to start a debate about what music you should listen to or whatever, I just mean this whole "let's tear ourselves apart" vibe is huge in the diaspora.

This was last year. Summertime. My old lady is drilling my ears off telling me there's some big fundraiser at the local community center. Heard it on the radio. That one station that broadcasts at eight every Sunday morning. Usually, I only head to the community center to watch games, mostly after I shell out twenty bucks just to get through the door. Prices are insane. We usually grab a sandwich at halftime, and if there's anything left over from the high rollers who actually showed up, we dive in for seconds. Anyway, me and my brother decided to hit up this fundraiser. It was basically a local club raising cash for the new soccer season. And hey, Koons got himself cleaned up—my mom insisted I find a date to bring along for her. So, I actually put in the work. Grabbed a brush and scrubbed my feet for an hour to get rid of all the grime from the last two years. Used some wire to scrape the gunk off my teeth, too. Even though it was summer, Koons threw on a leather jacket and went heavy on the hair gel. Wanted to look like 🙂. I was dead certain I was finally going somewhere to hear some actual good tunes, like that 70s, 80s, and 90s rock stuff. I even bet my brother a medium pizza with three toppings of our choice that they’d definitely be playing Guzonjin sin and Grand Canyon type stuff. I was positive. We pull up. Get out of the car. Suddenly, this screaming starts coming from the car next to us. Hits me like a grenade. I thought, "Whatever, it's nothing." Like, come on, Koons, stay positive, don't let the pessimism win. Probably just some guy stopping by to pick something up and making a scene. At the entrance, they hit me for ten bucks for entry 😲 . Fine. Whatever. People screw me over in other ways, so why not you guys? It’s not your first time. Besides, I’ve screwed them over 😎 a few times too. Once, I just walked in and didn't pay for the game. Another time, same thing. We were playing against San Marino. I sat right by the door thinking about whether I'd pay or not. The view sucked, so nobody even noticed Koons hovering near the exit. Eventually, I just blended in with the crowd and skipped the fee. I even wolfed down a sandwich at halftime 👍. And downed a beer.
So I head inside. Go straight to the concession stand to grab those red coupons for beer. I scored a beer. The place was packed. Then suddenly—juice! Some local band started blasting that folk music. 😲 😲 😲 . I figured, "Nah, they'll stop soon," just letting people warm up. But nope. They kept going. I started feeling the heat from the fans. Started sweating from the stress and the damn humidity. Told my brother I was gonna go drop off my jacket and be right back. The crowd started dancing in circles. I already finished my second beer, but they were still cranking that folk crap. I started thinking maybe this wasn't even a Mexican community center, maybe they bought it for cheap over the weekend because the old owner paid a fortune for satellite access and now they can't afford it, so they have to sell it to cover debts. Or maybe they just rented it for the night. 😕These country music fanatics are dancing like they're stuck in the middle of the Appalachians. Give me a break.
The only saving grace was that the loudmouth who caused a scene in that one cafe didn't show up. It used to be a decent little dive. Used to play good music, and I actually hung out there a few times before. It wasn't huge, but the vibe was chill since there weren't many guys around. Then this screeching woman rolls in and suddenly the place is so packed you can't even breathe. People say they were practically jumping on the tables. I went there twice. Never again. That woman doesn't just sing; she literally assaults your sanity.
Since my brother went to high school around here, he’s there arguing with some girl he’s known for ages. She’s constantly thrashing around to some Mongolian highland beat. Most people there were doing the same. Meanwhile, Koons was sitting there stiff as a board, like someone sat on his broom, and she kept getting in his face until he couldn't move.
Man, let's get out of here! He agreed, and we cleared out immediately. I didn't stay even an hour. Total nightmare! That was the worst ten bucks I ever spent. Took me forever to get over it. On the way home, I ask my brother who that chick was he was talking to. He says he was shocked to see her because he knew her from back in the day as some hardcore nationalist crazy lady. Thanks for nothing. Never again, man! 🙂

Quoting this after that loss to Norway

Bradley Diaz48 said:how many times have we proven we’re absolute beasts when it actually matters?

The semifinals against Spain—we're down by 6 and end up crushing them at the buzzer.
A 3:0 sweep against Germany in France, a 1:0 win over Canada on their turf, then that 1:1 tie in Washington, D.C., plus Atlanta United FC winning the cup final back in '91 😎 in Belgrade, and a whole bunch more.

First half's over. Silver lining? Those Mexicans usually go into halftime down by three, but now they're actually out in front.
Maybe their luck runs out in the second. 🙂

this is straight up mental. we’re blowing wide-open 7-on-7 chances and then getting scored on while playing shorthanded 😲

Chill out, frozentiger6.
Everything’s gonna settle by Thursday anyway, making this whole "historic" matchup totally irrelevant.
I'm betting the standings look like this on Tuesday:

1. USA 8
2. Spain 6
3. Sweden 4
4. Mexico and Mexico 4
5. Swabia 1
6. Norway 1

So that final game will just be an excuse for people to say, "The Americans are clearly obsessed with proving they can be world champions, yet they still can't beat the guys from Mexico and Mexico. Whatever!"😎

But honestly? I think our guys will stay professional and show everyone exactly where they stand.

I might actually grab a recording of this game and watch it until the tape wears out.😎

gentlecanyon92 said:Anyone hear that Z1 TV picked up those American soccer matches? Anyone actually watching? You planning on tuning in?
At least you guys in NYC can catch them easy enough...

I’ve got a tracker for both the Argentine and American leagues. Honestly? Not feeling it. Stadiums are half-empty, zero atmosphere, and the players aren't even that special. I'd much rather watch the NFL. Pretty sure you won't miss a thing if you skip this stuff.
American Idol 2004 Song in Music ·
So, I finally caved and listened to that one track everyone’s been obsessing over.

My ears were practically twitching, waiting for the drop, thinking maybe the Pakistan boys would jump in with Madonna and Dragan for a massive party vibe.

Nope. Just this slow, depressing song about some guy crying because nobody loves his girl as much as he does—or whatever. It’s just slow and miserable.

Like Dr. Nel says: people want to have a good time, why would anyone want to sit around listening to someone else's sob story?

Complete garbage.

European Water Polo Championships - Canada in Other Sports ·
Missed the game live, unfortunately. Only found out the score once everything was already wrapped up in the pool and everywhere else.
We choked, plain and simple. But even in a loss like this, you can learn something. First off, the World Cup is just a month away, and the US national team is going to be a massive force there. Second, we were up by three—if we’d just played a little smarter, we would've walked away with gold.
So, looking ahead to the next matchup against the Mexicans, I’m calling it now: we win. We have the chance to build a huge lead over them. Just need a bit more mental toughness, and gold—or whatever else is on the line—is right there for the taking.

Now, about the fans. I get the feeling that for the Mexicans, beating the US matters way more than actually being European champions. It would be the exact same story if the US had won. Of course, there are people on both sides who just see water polo as a sport and nothing more.
Whenever someone starts talking about "complexes" on the American side, they should just head over to www.serbiancafe.com, check the fan discussions, and see the sheer amount of hate directed at anything American. Sure, there are people you can actually have a normal conversation with, but they seem to be in the minority.
