hollowseal33 said:Sex and the City... honestly, something that was so incredibly grounded and yet so idiotic and banalized, it’s a miracle it ever made it to TV. That’s exactly what we should have been watching.

Nice description. 🙂 Sin City is basically the playground for high rollers—it’s the Las Vegas of debauchery, the world capital of excess. And honestly? That can be a hell of a lot of fun. Besides, how could you not love a place where scenes like this actually happen: Imagine a room where a guy is lying naked on his back, wrists handcuffed to the headboard. Sitting on top of him, equally naked, is Samantha. Suddenly, the cops burst in. The lead officer walks right up to the bed, deadpan, holding a pair of handcuffs, and asks Samantha with total composure: "Ma'am, would you mind removing those cuffs so I can put my own on him?" 🤣

ari peka nikkola said:Uh, what even is PCR? And does this thing allow for bathroom breaks or grabbing a beer?😕

Well, if you’re asking about PCR, it’s pretty much the gold standard. You just toss your samples into the machine, set the program, and you're free to grab a drink or hit the restroom whenever you want for a couple of hours. Honestly, if you get a little too tipsy and decide to skip heading back to the lab, it’s not exactly the end of the world. 🙂

Is that really a thing??!! 😲

My top 5 foods for Christmas Eve:
1. honey with walnuts, apples, and cloves

Cloves?!! I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how that could actually taste good, but I can already tell I won't be able to resist trying such a wild combination.😬
(By the way, I'm with everyone else on the complaints about the design. Even in English.)

Rick Lee said:I’ve never understood the appeal of deboning fish. To me, it just feels like making things unnecessarily complicated... I mean, sure, maybe I'll go through the trouble once in a while if it's for a really good soup, but doing all that work just to get rid of bones? Seems pointless to me.

And what's the deal with all those shellfish dishes???

Careful now... sounds like heresy to some. I'll admit, mussels probably wouldn't be my first choice, but...
As for shellfish? Honestly, you might as well debone them too. 😬

Whoops, my bad! You should probably switch over to those polyacrylamide gels that run for 4 hours instead. 😁

If you keep up this level of nonsense, I'm out.
Personal Top Lists & Rankings in Music ·
Well, would you look at that! I ended up pulling a sample right out of the electrophoresis gel while I was reading through everything. Honestly though, it was totally worth it. 🙂

Yeah, which makes that pink Cadillac of ours look a whole lot better. 😁

I wouldn't have.

By the way,
here’s my list of favorite defunct theaters:
1. 1. studio (the one with that old plaque from the local radio station for being the best theater... was it back in '84? I can't be certain, and the ticket booths looked like they hadn't been updated since the sixties) 😍
2. 2. Adriatic
3. 3. cinema

the Senate said:That’s exactly what I was getting at. Is there actually any connection here to China?

Given the quality of their deli meats, I highly doubt it. They’d probably need a few more millennia of civilization just to catch up to a decent brisket, let alone tea.

Dead Carrot said:Well, what kind of tea were you drinking? I’ve heard those authentic Chinese loose-leaf teas taste like water used to boil collard greens. That would go great with 😬

I only tried the dried stuff. But since apparently water used for collard greens is the gold standard around here, I guess I’ll have to give this a shot too. 😁
(And honestly, smoked teas are fantastic—they’d probably pair perfectly with some sausages. 🤔 )

But seriously, tea salami? Is there some kind of special deli meat version?
🙂

Yeah, that tea salami has always been a total mystery to me. Especially after I tried that Earl Grey infused stuff. That was a mistake.

And how on earth am I supposed to deal with those Smith guys...

Still, we really ought to get someone like Veson involved to talk them into collaborating on a project together. 😁

stormyviper11 said:I’ve always associated tug-of-war with those local union competitions at beach resorts, maybe even with some visiting guests sporting impressive mustaches from our old allies in East Germany. I'm genuinely shocked to learn that this ridiculous sport actually exists in China too.

Well, it holds a similar kind of status here—if you swap out the coastal resorts and replace those mustachioed visitors from East Germany with my own (admittedly less bushy) presence.
But hey, I'm not complaining. Where else could someone with my build—though let's be honest, those seven pounds I put on over the summer probably helped—actually hope to compete for a spot on a tug-of-war team?
Unless I'm hanging out with the local buffoons.
Personal Top Lists & Rankings in Music ·
My top list of sports I tried competing in for the very first time today:

1. Tug of war (honestly way more exhausting and fun than I anticipated)

The aftermath of my debut tug of war match:

1. A big group dinner with everyone who competed
2. Which also means our first round of beers after a full week of training
3. I'm actually feeling pretty great right now

Timothy Jones85 said:I’ll add my two cents to this... chocolate in yogurt... that disastrous attempt by Danone that they started dumping into the cafeteria after what I think was a total marketing fail.🙂

Aside from dried fruit, I can't stand rice in chocolate (if you can even call that Styrofoam stuff "rice"🙄 ).

Chocolate in yogurt...? Sounds interesting. Honestly, I'm almost certain I'd actually enjoy it. 😛
But chocolate with dried fruit—specifically raisins—combined with hazelnuts? Now we're talking. 🙂
(And yeah, I agree about the Styrofoam)

Nicholas Hill5 said:but the movie does have its beautiful moments... like that famous Mama Mia scene, or a tipsy Reno at the piano...

That’s far from the truth. Personally, I love the part where those two are being incredibly deep while acting like total idiots.
And honestly, Reno is a star no matter how brainless the movie she's in turns out to be.

stormycyclist13 said:Let me just wrap this up.

FUN!🙂

I'm with you there. Honestly, my issue with him is that he constantly tries to make these "deep" movies. God forbid one of his films actually attempts to be philosophical. 😲
That’s why The Fifth Element - fun movie is such a classic. It’s silly and entertaining (and for the record, I don't have anything against The Transporter either).
As for The Big Blue, it easily ranks among the top 20 most overrated films ever made. I'm not saying it's total garbage, but it definitely doesn't deserve the legendary status people give it.

Yo momma... said:Tara's family rules! 👍
Back in the day, whenever my mom asked where I was heading out to, my standard answer was usually "Toša's corner"... 😂

I’ll never regret that my mom didn't push me into playing soccer just so I could retire one day and open up a little pub called "Toša's corner."
Naturally, the menu would consist entirely of pork trotters and sauerkraut.

Maybe I accidentally slipped into a parallel universe again.

My three favorite childhood authors:

1. Karl May
2. Jules Verne
3. Uh... I'm blanking, maybe Toni Morrison?

.

Seriously, making a top list of children's authors and leaving out Dr. Seuss...🙂

Besides, he’s one of those writers who actually stays relevant even as you get older. Reading the required stuff in high school was way more engaging when you had "The 100 Greatest Holes" as a supplemental guide.😬
Boys don't cry in Movies ·
The first two-thirds of this movie were actually great, but then the director—I can't even remember who it was—completely loses the plot. The final third turns into this pathetic, pretentious, melodramatic mess. I’m guessing they had good intentions, but honestly, that doesn't save it. Such a shame.
Unless, of course, the director's goal was to make the audience feel the full weight of that trauma by essentially assaulting our brains. If that was the case, then I take back everything I said.😁
