Entrepreneurial struggles for Americans in Economy ·
The way I handle my taxes is basically just playing the waiting game
For instance, one month they might hit me up saying I owe them $5333, but then the next month I’ve got a refund coming in for $5100, so since you already mentioned how much the banks take in fees, I’d rather just wait for them to offset the two... I'll just pay that tiny bit of interest and settle the rest the following month
See, the thing is, I haven't even received a single late notice in almost a year, mostly because I missed one month once after waiting for a similar offset, and I didn't end up paying until November when my accountant finally caught it, so if anything comes my way, I'm probably just going to play dumb😬
Everything is still up in the air with the banks, too, and for example, they told me they couldn't use my private house as collateral even though it's worth like three times the loan amount they're asking for... they can't quite figure out which category I fit into, so all they're offering is some general-purpose loan at a rate that isn't exactly great in 😉...

I'm just waiting for America to fully integrate into the EU, and then I'll likely move my business over to Canada, as I know plenty of people from Canada who have done the exact same thing

so you can just be sure
honestly, I think your best bet might be to just swing by a local Bank of America branch and have them run through everything for you...

alright, let's stop beating around the bush and get to the point
darkmaker94, I told you to handle this since you aren't me...

"Dear Mr. Richard Lewis16,

we appreciate you reaching out via email.

The additional overdraft limit for your Visa Installments is granted based on your total allowed overdraft amount, which is reduced by the number of uncashed checks multiplied by $1,000.00.

If you qualify for an overdraft due to your status as a student, per Bank of America policies, you will also be granted the same amount for your Visa Installments overdraft.

Should you require any further details, please feel free to reach our Customer Service department at the phone number listed below.

We appreciate your understanding. Sincerely,

Best regards,

Helen Keller

Hey, you've got a PM waiting for you

amberheron3 said:Has anyone here tried designing their own wedding invitations and thank-you notes? I was wondering if there are any good places to find supplies for that. Also, I've had people suggest traveling over to some cheaper areas out west to plan the wedding, but I'm not really feeling that idea, even if prices are lower there. Has anyone actually done that?

You should check out a place in Indianapolis
called the Keepsake Shop (I’d have to double-check the exact street, but I think they're located right near downtown)
It really just depends on where we’re talking about...
If you could just shoot me a private message with all the details on where exactly you need to head... once I have the full itinerary, I'll get back to you with a price...
I’m renting out luxury limos for weddings all over California
shoot me a DM if you want the details
DraftKings in Economy ·
you can 😉

DraftKings is also fully registered here in the States, so you won't have any issues when it comes to getting your payouts... I've looked into it myself

It’s totally doable to either get them to shave a bit off the price—you know, that whole "let's negotiate the contract terms" dance—or just insist they throw in some higher-end equipment instead

but you really have to be the one to push for it, because you've got to play as hardball as they do... there's honestly no shame in being a little ruthless when it comes to these things 😉

there’s actually another one—personally, I think it’s even better—over near the intersection by the Lincoln Center
if you head from the theater toward Broadway and cut into the courtyard on the left side... the owner also runs that craft brewery right across the street called 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which is incredibly well-kept, and if I recall correctly, they have a little sign out front for their patio area

I mean, maybe she could just look the other way on this one, since we aren't exactly planning on telling anyone... 😁
And honestly, their own customers might jump into the fray to either back up the story or shut it down entirely
Besides, mentioning a specific company name here isn't really "Marketing," it just makes the conversation easier to follow, much like how we talk about Bank of America or Chase or whatever else comes up in threads about banking
My whole perspective is built on what I’ve seen firsthand and what my friends have dealt with, because I truly believe that kind of organic word-of-mouth is the most effective way to go (and it always seems to circle back to that exact same point 😁)
Anyway, on topic

I’m sure there are plenty of honest professionals out there doing things the right way, but when there's so much noise and nonsense, you can't even see the good people anymore
My suggestion is that you try to get things better organized—maybe push for some heavy fines for those people plastering ads on bus stops or subway stations, and hit those aggressive salespeople with massive penalties, and I bet things would start looking a lot better for everyone

I guess I’ll join the crowd here and voice my support too... I’m really hoping Kimberly Nguyen will let us drop a link or maybe just post the names right here instead
Personal loan ads: Legit or scam? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Look, I only really jump into threads that catch my eye...

If that’s how you guys roll, more power to you, I guess...
To be honest, I have no clue what OVB or AWD actually represent—guessing they're just some brokerage firms or something—but even with just basic business sense, I get the gist. Not that there's anything wrong with sticking to certain people; I mean, we all have our preferred go-tos when we're working, don't we?

And regarding that bit about spending three hours circling the Bank of America... that's purely based on my own experience. If you add in the thirty minutes I spent trekking back and forth from the car because I was too cheap to pay for parking, it adds up. I don't go into a bank just to sightsee; I go in with specific questions because I've already done my homework online...

In the end, I didn't even take out a loan there. It turns out it’s way more cost-effective to handle things elsewhere. I’m just waiting on that new federal regulation regarding credit to kick in so I can shop around anywhere I want. Once that happens, I suspect things will look better for you all too, and I’ll probably be more inclined to come to you for advice...

I still fall, more or less, into that category of desirable clients...😁 (The only real issue might be my choice of clothing...)

And for the record, I have a lot of respect for small business owners—though a middleman isn't exactly a small business owner...
But at the same time, I don't want to turn into one of those classic Americans who calls a handyman just to change a lightbulb. I'd much rather give a chance to the kid next door, thinking maybe he's better at it, or it'll save me a few bucks, and so on...

I'm more of a guy who looks at the price-to-quality ratio and...
Honestly, I just don't care for middlemen. Please don't take that personally, it's not an attack on anyone's profession, but when I don't absolutely need one, I'd rather go straight to the source...

I enjoy gaining new experiences and learning things for myself—which, I know, sounds like a cheesy line from a lonely hearts ad...😁—rather than having everything handed to me on a silver platter.
You know that old song lyric... "we did it all ourselves, earned it all ourselves"...

Richard Wright said:First off, I’m taking your entire response as a personal insult, though I suspect that was exactly your intention. What you wrote above isn't "work"—it's a ten-minute trip to the accounting department. And frankly, we have absolutely nothing to do with that process. That’s what your colleague in accounting is getting paid for—the one you probably have to bribe with a box of chocolates every other week just to keep her from taking her bad mood out on the rest of us.

Look, you clearly don't grasp how we actually operate here, which is why you just blurted out something so incredibly misguided. Either that, or you have absolutely no clue about the sheer number of variables that have to align perfectly just to get a loan approved—especially now that we're dealing with all the red tape from the SEC.
If you have nothing better to do with your life than stand in line just to be fed half-truths and total misinformation, then by all means, stay far away from us. Honestly, if you’re the type who thinks it’s perfectly fine to burn through your vacation days just to deal with some bank loan bullshit, you clearly don't belong here.
Look, let’s be real here. If you’ve lived your entire life without ever touching a line of credit—no car loans, no student debt, nothing—you might think you’re in a position of strength. But if you happen to be lucky enough to pull a decent salary at a top-tier firm like Goldman Sachs or Google, then yeah, sure. You can walk right into a major bank like Chase or Bank of America and they'll hand you a loan. It’s simple math for them.
It’s high time you realized that you have absolutely no idea if one of the other ten banks out there is offering a better rate on a loan. But hey, you think you’ve mastered everything just because you spent a few hours scrolling through the internet, right? You haven't actually lost a single full workday to this process. I'm talking about the real grind: making multiple trips across town, standing in line after line, waiting around for a personal banker to finally notice you, and then spending hours surfing web pages only to realize you have to start the whole damn loop over again once you finally pick which branches to visit. Real research takes sweat, not just clicks.
Back home in the States, you could have gotten that answer in ten minutes flat—and I’m talking completely free of charge. No strings attached, no bill at the end. Just straightforward information, provided without anyone asking for a dime.

The banks and their affiliates are footing the bill here. They have to. We aren't just some amateur operation; we’re professionals. We handle the easy wins—the clients with spotless credit histories—just as effectively as we tackle the absolute disasters. I’m talking about the people drowning in over ten different loans, desperately grabbing at straws just to stay afloat. We fix both, and the institutions pay for our expertise.
We act as external partners to the banks, essentially handing them polished, ready-to-go documentation that requires nothing more than a quick mechanical processing on their end. It’s a seamless workflow. The banks are happy, the clients are satisfied, and the proof is in the referrals—they keep sending people our way. Look, we’ve earned our living the right way. We work hard and play by the rules. But I find myself venting because I’m tired of being lumped in with those shady, fly-by-night operators who ignore every regulation in the book. It’s infuriating when superficial observers can't tell the difference between legitimate professionals and those illegals, and they toss us all into the same dirty bucket. That’s exactly why I felt the need to set the record straight.

You’ve probably never even dealt with a contractor before, because honestly, painting an apartment isn't rocket science.
Either you run your own little side hustle and handle all your own bookkeeping—because why would you pay someone else to do something you can easily manage yourself?—or you're just delusional. To be brutally honest, why are you pulling such a massive salary for a role that your clients could handle on their own? Or better yet, your boss could just find some sucker to do the exact same thing for $333 less.

Just as a quick side note—over in Austria, about 40% of bank loans are processed through specialized agencies...

Best,

It seems people get pretty touchy the moment someone disagrees with them

Honestly, I’d rather just walk into a local branch by myself than deal with you guys

Or maybe you can tell me how those folks at the bank (the ones actually approving the loan) are going to be wrong, whereas you're somehow infallible... since you're clearly in constant direct contact with bank boards and the SEC, right?

Do I know for a fact that you work with every single lender out there? Can you actually guarantee you'll find the best possible fit for my situation, or do you just have cozy little deals with two major banks while ignoring everyone else and funneling clients toward them?

And besides, if I wanted to hit up seven different banks, it would take me a solid three hours just to sit down and have a real, deep conversation with an individual banker at each one—not just some quick info session, but a serious meeting with someone who actually has authority...
And when a bank sees you're a high-value prospect (which, in my case, I definitely am), they start throwing extra perks and better terms on the table...

As for the rest, I don't handle my own bookkeeping, I use an outside firm, and I painted my apartment myself because, let's face it, it's not exactly rocket science...

My clients don't see the value in paying enough to get the level of service I provide, so I'm doing just fine on my own for now... 😁
If you really want the best outcome for yourself, you should probably just go out and grab it yourself.👍

I’ve been kicking around the idea of picking up something a bit smaller, maybe just a standard commuter car, something from one of those established companies that's been around forever...
Honestly, you’re probably better off just checking in with the bank where you already hold your accounts to see what their lease rates look like. It usually makes things a lot smoother when they already know you.
Car loans in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
1. You’ve got to subtract the second value from the first one to get the right number
It gets a little tricky though, because you have to account for the two different types of Enterprise deals 😉 and honestly, your monthly payment is going to depend heavily on which route you take
I didn't catch where Vicky pulled those specific figures from, I might have just missed it in the thread...
2. I can't say for certain since I don't use my personal accounts for business stuff, but my gut tells me you can't really pull that off, especially since that Ford is technically a business vehicle by default
Car loans in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I mean, the real upside with Enterprise is that you can just roll through with a three-year-old Ford, swap it out for something newer, and they basically just settle the difference between the old one and the new one... it’s kind of like having a permanent rental agreement, I guess...

p.s. thanks for the link, by the way, since I’ve been spending way too much time lately browsing for cars online...😁

Jason Myers89 said:Hey ladies, I have a mountain of questions and I’m really hoping someone here can help me out.
The wedding is set for August 30th, so I need recommendations for pretty much everything—except the church, the dress, and the groom, obviously! ha.
Is there anyone here from the Memphis area, or maybe someone who’s worked weddings around here recently?
I just moved to town, so I’m totally lost and don't know a soul—please, I am begging for some help.
VENUE? MUSIC? FLOWERS?
Does anyone know where I can rent a limo, and has anyone heard of ANIC photography? I desperately need their number.

PLIZZZZZZZZZZZZZ help me out!

If you’re actually looking into renting a limo, just shoot me a private message with some more details so I can give you a quote...
I’m based in Washington, D.C., but we pretty much cover the whole country.
I’ll send you a DM with my website so you can check out the cars—though I only have the last line of limos left in stock right now.😉

so, does it actually have one?
I honestly had no clue, thanks for the heads up... I think I might head over there and check it out myself just to see what the deal is... 👍

I’ll just drop the link right here 😉 (hopefully nobody comes after me for spamming, I'm just sharing because I actually buy from them and they're pretty great)

First thing you should probably do is check what kind of taxes the government is going to squeeze out of you... I assume dealing with the IRS in the States involves a fair bit of paperwork and extra fees depending on how you set things up
And honestly, with all these recent pushes toward banning smoking everywhere, I’ve been sitting on this little business idea... I just need a solid partner and, obviously, a lawyer to tell me if it's even legal under current regulations since things seem to be shifting so fast
If anyone actually wants to get in on this, shoot me a private message 😁
It turns out vividmoose11 and I are actually thinking along the exact same lines 😁 (just finished reading about it too)
Also, I was wondering—since hookah lounges seem to be holding their own over in places like Turkey, maybe there's an opening for someone to bring that kind of vibe to our neck of the woods?
