Unknown illness with extremely high fever in Health ·
I’ve heard about a case just like that before. Pretty much identical, actually. Honestly, if it weren't for this forum, I probably wouldn't even know these things happened elsewhere. I guess they just try to keep it all under wraps, or maybe they're just hiding it.🙄
Visible veins on my chest in Women's Health ·
I mean, I assume your skin is just on the thinner, paler side.😁
I don't really see any issue with it, honestly. I can see the veins in my own legs all the time.🙄
Need advice: Sestrin's boyfriend is couchsurfing at our place in Psychology & Therapy ·
He and his parents are a pretty interesting bunch, I guess.🤣
The kid’s in high school, and lately, he just doesn't bother coming home to sleep at all—and he isn't saying a word about it either.😍

It was kind of like this with my sister’s boyfriend back in the day—his parents were those old-school, super conservative types, so she was basically glued to his side. She rarely actually stayed the night there, but they’d spend all their time just hanging out in his room right under his folks' noses.🙄
Anyway, she ended up getting married at nineteen and got pregnant shortly after.🤣

I guess if you aren't losing sleep over it, and your sister isn't either, then maybe you should just follow suit and stop worrying.🤷
I don't see a huge deal with the 6mg dose or the milligrams of xanax, but I haven't really messed around with Loquen before.
I mean, I honestly have no clue how those two might interact with each other.
Constant spotting/bleeding in Women's Health ·
Red raspberry leaf tea is pretty well known for helping to slow down or lighten bleeding.
But this whole situation feels completely off to me. We aren't even talking about a heavy period here; it’s like the entire cycle is just... broken.🤷
There has to be an actual reason behind this.
Dealing with Candida glabrata? in Women's Health ·
So, how do you actually prove systemic candidiasis?
I know there are blood tests and stool samples.🤷 But honestly, everything just seems to be responding to treatment anyway.🤷
boldfalcon542 said:Symptoms: I get this mild nausea every now and then, usually within two hours after eating (though it's better since I went gluten-free and dairy-free). I also deal with occasional dizziness, intense muscle weakness that gets way worse if I do anything physical, visible muscle twitching under my skin in certain spots, tingling in my hands and feet, and I've been losing weight fast. Here’s what I’ve done so far: MRI of my abdomen and head, an MRI of my cervical spine to check the nerves (one of those specialized scans), a general neurological exam, full blood work—minus adrenal and male hormones—tumor markers for the pancreas were negative, stool tests for parasites were negative, a gastroscopy, and testing for H. pylori (which came back borderline positive, so I treated that in the meantime). Also had an echocardiogram, a celiac test, and a urine culture. Honestly, I’m at a total loss. For the most part, everything looks fine except for high cholesterol (around 240 mg/dL), that borderline H. pylori, potassium being right at the bottom edge of normal, and slightly low hematocrit. What should be my next move? Should I look into food allergies, see an ENT, a pulmonologist, or maybe test for Giardia? What could this actually be pointing toward? Could it just be anxiety, or is the muscle weakness too specific for that? Maybe EBV? I’m out of ideas. I’m seeing private doctors because I simply can't function like this anymore waiting for an appointment through my insurance provider a year from now. It’s somewhat manageable, but this muscle weakness and the weight loss are really starting to freak me out. Thanks so much for any help.

Anxiety can look like just about anything. Believe me, I know.
Maybe try taking an anti-anxiety med just to see how you feel? If things improve, then you'll probably have your answer.🤷
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Bradley Gray54 said:My heart truly goes out to everyone dealing with this...😢

From the very beginning, I have been plagued by incredibly painful and heavy periods. What’s more, I’ve started to notice that as I get older, these struggles seem to be intensifying.

For me, it isn't just abdominal pain; I suffer from intestinal cramps, and my legs and arms ache so much that I feel like I'm coming down with the flu, while my head throbs with what feels like a relentless migraine.
Essentially, it is an absolute nightmare from head to toe... and it lasts for four days every single month.🙂

In the early days, I relied on Voltaren, but I eventually had to stop because it was causing issues with my digestive system. Later, I discovered Neofen, and I have been taking it for nearly ten years now because it actually works for me. Typically, I take a 400 mg dose all at once, which provides relief for about six hours. I make sure to eat a little something before taking it, as I find it works more effectively that way. I also try to lie down for half an hour afterward, which seems to help the medication settle in better. I have tried taking it "on the go" a few times, but it didn't seem to have any effect at all.

The most difficult part is how often I end up staining my clothes, so I completely avoid wearing jeans; instead, I stick to dark skirts or dresses paired with black leggings or tights. I realized that this helps hold everything in place much more securely. My bed linens also get ruined regularly, no matter how careful I try to be—perhaps I should look into adult diapers?!🙂

And what is 😲 most frustrating of all is that every single month, I go through three to three packs of pads! For the first two days, I use nothing but the largest overnight varieties, as anything else simply isn't absorbent enough for me.

And so it goes...😢

You really ought to see a gynecologist. That kind of bleeding seems way too heavy. You’re going to end up anemic if you aren't already.
Long-term contraception: Implanon experiences in Women's Health ·
If Mirena is mainly intended for women who have already had kids, then I guess it’s not really my thing.🤣
My partner and I aren't married, but honestly, I don't care—he just tried to push some pills on me. And he wasn't exactly thrilled when I told him I wasn't interested in that solution either!
Anyway, I think I'm going to have to stand my ground on this one.😁
Long-term contraception: Implanon experiences in Women's Health ·
Honestly, I just need something that’ll either really cut down on the bleeding or, if I'm lucky, stop it altogether!🤣
I suppose I'll have to go asking around, though I doubt my OB-GYN has even heard of it.😂
Long-term contraception: Implanon experiences in Women's Health ·
Does this have other side effects similar to birth control pills? I mean, regarding the downsides. If we're talking about hormonal contraception here, what actually makes it different?!
And is it strictly for preventing pregnancy, or is it used to help manage cycle irregularities too?
Kate Collins67 said:Anyway, back to the medical stuff. If your new ferritin level hits around 5, you’re basically on a fast track to actual anemia within a few months. Usually, the ferritin drops first, then serum iron, and finally hemoglobin—that's the typical progression for the specific type of deficiency you're worried about (iron-deficiency anemia).

Thanks. That was actually what I wanted to know.🙂
As for the first part of this conversation, I could easily send over my lab results, and you'd see they were all done through private labs. I rarely use the public healthcare system; I spend a fair amount of money at private clinics instead, so those comments don't really apply to me.
And honestly, as long as I'm paying out of pocket, I have every right to expect quality service.☕
🤣 I’m feeling a bit anxious about this.
I mean, I get that I’m not technically anemic yet, but I just can't tell if these numbers have dropped too much over the last seven months.
wiredcanyon2 said:Basically, anemia means you have low hemoglobin levels or a low red blood cell count. There are actually quite a few different types. If you're running low on iron, we're looking at iron-deficiency anemia, since iron is crucial for making hemoglobin work properly. If that deficiency sticks around, your hemoglobin concentration drops. It’s all about that iron-to-hemoglobin ratio. But honestly, this is a massive topic and I'm just giving you the broad strokes here. Besides just looking at Iron, Hemoglobin, and Red Blood Cells, doctors also need to check things like MCV, ferritin, and TIBC to figure out which specific type of anemia we're dealing with. Since the question was pretty general, I kept my answer general too. If you have something more specific or if there's a particular case—yours or someone else's—that's confusing you, feel free to ask. Best,

Thanks for the info.🙂
It's about me, actually. My periods have been incredibly heavy lately, so I'm trying to compare my labs from seven months ago to what I have now.

So, old results:

RBC 4.50 (3.86-5.08)
Hemoglobin 139 (119-157)
MCV 92 (83-97)

Iron 20.4 (8-30)
TIBC 63.3 (49-75)
Ferritin 19.4 (10-120)

New results:
RBC 4.49
Hemoglobin 130
MCV 87

I don't have the iron, TIBC, or ferritin numbers yet. I guess I'm just wondering... does this look like too much of a drop?
When checking for anemia, does a CBC (hemoglobin, red blood cell count, etc.) actually matter, or should I just be looking at iron levels? How do those two even relate to each other?
Accidental Clorox ingestion/poisoning in Health ·
I was just cleaning some stuff with Clorox and it didn't hit me until I was finished that I have this little cut on my hand. Is it actually possible to get poisoned like that?? If so, what kind of symptoms should I look out for, and how long does it usually take to kick in?
I know people have gotten sick from breathing in the fumes, so I guess it makes sense that it could happen through a wound too.
Total panic mode over here, honestly. I'm not really sure what to do now.😢
What are these pills? in Health ·
Maybe use a little common sense here.😁
If these were actually meant for calming down, I guess they’d all be identical! But looking at these, you can clearly see they each have their own unique label.🤣
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
Well, that’s just how it works.😁

A month might have 30 days, but that doesn't mean every woman's cycle follows that exact schedule.

Mine is usually about 25 days. So, if I get it on the 10th one month, I might not see it again until the 5th the next.🙂
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
What's your take on this?
Like, say she gets it on the 20th one month, then the 18th the next?🤷

I mean, if her cycle isn't exactly 30 days, things are probably gonna shift around a bit.🤣🤣
