I mean, look at this photo—to me, it looks way more balanced than, say, Toyota or Red Bull with those skinny noses that look like they’re gonna snap off any second.
Pos Driver Team Time Laps 1. Buemi Toro Rosso-Ferrari (B) 1:19.660 104 2. Vettel Red Bull-Renault (B) 1:22.177 61 3. Hulkenberg Williams-Toyota (B) 1:22.443 82 4. Kovalainen McLaren-Mercedes (B) 1:22.643 58 5. Piquet Renault (B) 1:23.313 35
Toro rosso is the only one running last year's car, so once they roll out the next RB, Vettel is gonna be sitting ahead of Renault, Williams, and McLaren all season long. You reap what you sow.😁
I just can't remember if it was dry or raining out there.🤷
Besides that, there are some other interesting numbers
1. Glock Toyota 1:33.501 82 2. Massa Ferrari 1:33.615 98 3. Kubica BMW Sauber 1:33.702 95
Toyota isn't looking half bad either.😉
It was dry/rain/dry in Phoenix. It would be wild if the RB5 absolutely crushed it this season...
Williams looks absolutely beastly, honestly looks like something straight out of Mad Max
Renault—what a total disaster, that thing is hideous. But then again, from what I can tell, they’re the only ones running a front wing where that top tier of flaps stretches all the way up to the nose. Personally, I dig that look way more than, say, Toyota, where the nose sits so high it looks like half the front wing just snapped off underneath it...
Arthur Doyle70 said:I know I already asked this, but I’m asking again: does this mean once they drop down to two cars, they're actually gonna be faster?😁😉
Honestly, they don't even need to beat the 2005 era. 😉
Besides, if Alonso can just be slightly slower than the competition and still smoke everyone on the grid—which is exactly what he did during that final stretch last season—then we're golden. 😉
Thinking about it, I’d actually prefer it if Renault wasn't totally dominating in 2009. I'd much rather see them being just a tiny bit behind the pack. 🙂
Arthur Doyle70 said:Once they actually pass the crash tests, we'll see.🤣🤣
Right now, it's just speculation for January 19th in Portugal.☕
Look, back in 2005, they didn't breeze through those initial crash tests either, and we all remember how Renault absolutely tore everyone apart that season. ☕
fadedpanther4 said:Am I speaking Greek here, or are you guys just playing dumb? Who said you have to stare at the rearview mirror the entire time you're driving through the pits? You can obviously check the mirror right when you're pulling out of the box.
It’s not like Moss hasn't nearly plowed into someone exiting his own pit lane before. He clearly thinks the rearview mirror is just there for decoration.
And look, whether it's the lollipop man or whatever system Ford uses, they signal the driver that it's clear to exit when the mechanics are done with tires and fuel, not just whenever there isn't a traffic jam at the exit.
You guys are clueless. 🙄
I'm pretty sure the driver can't see a damn thing while he's sitting in the pits, so I honestly think it's on the guy with the lollipop to make sure the coast is clear.
Here's why I think that:
p.s. In both these shots, you can see where the lollipop man is standing. It's obvious he has a way better view of the pit lane compared to the driver, who can't see anything through that swarm of mechanics surrounding the car. 😉
The driver should just stop at the pit lane line, do a quick check—you know, mirrors, blind spots... then go. 😬
Alonso 👋 Finally hit the podium, and he grabs P1 immediately—what a way to do it! Absolutely legendary!
Killer race, and Alonso is looking sharper than ever. He took every single opening given to him and drove like an absolute beast (definitely making up for that crappy luck on Saturday)
Rosberg 👍
I really hope Alonso sticks with Renault for 2009. I want to see him back on top of the podium constantly, messing with little Hamilton 😛, and actually having more drivers/teams thrown into the title fight instead of this one-man show
The only thing I can't wrap my head around is how Nick Heidfeld managed to jump ahead of Fernando Alonso. Did Alonso spin out, or did Nick just pit early for rain tires?
but he definitely had his own way of being sarcastic, kind of like some trash-talking fan from a small-town Texas football team trying to put lipstick on a pig 🤣
If we want this championship to actually get interesting, I need to see Massa and Lewis Hamilton wreck each other on track while Kimi Räikkönen takes the win today
