$90 is some new 8GB DDR4 at AMD... specifically Corsair Vengeance. It was actually on sale for a few days, so I’m hoping they haven't hiked the prices up again already.
That whole thing about Windows booting two seconds faster? It’s honestly nothing. You won't even notice the difference during actual daily use... and I'd bet my money that the Intel lasts longer.
So, I’ve got a standard MSI Radeon R7 260, and I’m starting to think my GPU is acting up. Basically, whenever I finish a race in Gran Turismo or Gran Turismo Autosport, the whole thing starts stuttering like crazy and the screen just goes black for about two minutes. It’s like the entire system just freezes solid. And don't even get me started on games like League of Legends. Something happens—like someone gets taken out in a fight—and my screen just hangs for two seconds, leaving me totally helpless. I originally picked this card because I saw some comparisons between the GeForce GTX 750 and the Radeon R7 260 where AMD had much more vibrant colors, but this constant lagging is driving me nuts. The MSI card itself is solid; temps are fine and the color contrast looks great, but these freezes are seriously getting on my nerves. Is it actually worth swapping this out for a GeForce GTX 750, or what should I do?
If I had that kind of cash sitting around for a monitor, I’d definitely scrape together the extra hundred bucks to grab the Dell U2414H. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it.
Right now, I'm rocking an Acer V226HQLApanel which is VA (specifically AMVA), and honestly, I haven't noticed any huge issues. If I had to nitpick, the whites get a little too bright sometimes—it strains my eyes a bit. I have a feeling an IPS would fix that. Then again, I just saw someone on a forum trashing IPS panels, claiming they were total garbage. 😁
But look—honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. All three monitors are solid picks.
If you're looking to spend around $150, I'd weigh the Dell P2414H against the BenQ GW2760. Now, if you can stretch your budget up to about $210, you can snag the Dell U2414H, which is definitely a step up from those first two. Also, just a heads-up: some ASUS models come with a 5-year warranty, if that kind of thing matters to you.
The GT 740 isn't actually a bad card (it's basically just a rebrand of the GTX 650), and I used to run a 650 myself without any issues. I managed to pull off some pretty crazy stuff with that setup and an E7200.
Adam Moore3 said:The G3260 isn't even built for overclocking, so I have no clue what you're talking about. If we were discussing the G3258, then maybe, but even that's a stretch on an H81 board. You're totally off base here.
My H81 VRMs hit about 82°C. If I even dared to touch the processor clock, I would've fried my motherboard long ago. I think I know what I'm doing.
I’m sticking to my guns: the FX 4300 is the better pick. Fine, you know what? I'll actually try building a rig around the FX 4300 just to prove it.
