It’s finally underway! 👍🙏👍

One thing that’s been bothering me since that first pit stop: what on earth was Red Bull Racing thinking when they decided to stick with Alguersuar? The guy is performing at the exact same level as Nelshin and Nakajima... 🤷

As for the internal battle over at Ferrari, Alonso has already made it clear who holds the reins. If Massa can't step up and challenge him before qualifying wraps up, things are only going to get more lopsided. Pretty soon, he might just have to accept being Alonso's version of Rubens Barrichello.

These practice sessions are starting to feel like a complete waste of everyone's time. It’s the same story across the board today: every single driver is actually slower than they were during yesterday's first session. It makes zero sense. If you follow any logical progression, times should be dropping now that the drivers have actually dialed in the track surface and gotten some rubber down. Instead, it feels like nobody is even attempting to push for qualifying pace.

Bar will be able to tell his kids, "I actually beat Kamui Kobayashi, and I was even faster than Michael Schumacher during free practice!" 🤣

Let’s be real here. Sebastian Vettel is a top-tier driver, there's no debating that, but even the best talent can't overcome a Red Bull package that just isn't built to deliver a championship.☕

So, are you one of those people in that group convinced the championship is going to be decided by an internal civil war between Button-Hamilton at Ferrari? Or are you more of a follower of the seven-time champ, firmly believing that winning is the only thing that actually matters? ☕

Not bad at all. :-)
The first 10 clocked in under a second, and we hit 19 within 7 seconds. 😁

When an underdog pulls off a massive result, it’s a shock to the system, sure—but those moments are rarely accidents. They are almost always the byproduct of relentless, grueling work behind the scenes. In my view, HRT just doesn't fit that narrative. Maybe they’ll be lifting trophies one day, but right now? At the start of a season without having clocked a single testing kilometer, expecting them to land a top spot would require nothing short of a miracle.

I’m pulling for both the Pole and the Japanese driver. Honestly, as long as one of them takes the win—which seems likely—I’ll be more than happy.

And frankly? I'm hoping for some rain. 😁

This sounds genuinely intriguing. My partner is constantly dragging me to Washington, D.C., because she finds the city charming, whereas to me, it just feels gray and monotonous. Now, I might actually have a reason to get on board. 🙂

By the way, what’s the damage looking like? If you can recall any specific figures, let me know.

ESPN picked them up a little while back, but they mostly just let things run as they always had. Now? They’ve completely butchered it. It’s a real shame.

So, let me get this straight—you’re claiming that absolutely nobody on Reddit has kids, nieces, younger brothers, or sisters? Honestly, you are taking things completely out of context now and turning this into a total joke!🙂
It looks like Mommy taught you a thing or two about how to troll!🙂

Not quite. Reddit is an entire online community, whereas the F1 section is tiny—I’d even call it a microscopic slice of that user base. To be honest, the rest of the community doesn't want them back.
Let’s not forget that this group also includes the moderators and admins—all of whom are huge fans of Manny Pacquiao! threatened Honestly, I think God probably stepped in just to save him from getting hit with a massive abuse report—not to mention a call to the police!

Edward Howard2
It’s not quite the same thing. If Manny Pacquiao had his account unbanned, I honestly think he’d think twice before trying to run a soccer clone account. He wouldn't want to risk another permanent ban—especially one where there's zero chance of coming back—and he definitely wouldn't want to lose the support of his buddies over on the Formula 1 subforum.

It really is the same thing. In fact, I'd argue it's even more telling because nobody actually sat him down and dictated the terms to him. In that moment, he showed everyone his true colors.🙂

Because they've been permanently banned! You really think people haven't tried helping? Let me tell you, those guys never even had half the "chances" Manny Pacquiao had, nor did they cause nearly as much trouble as he did.

And just to throw this out there: people have been slapped with permanent bans for just two or three problematic clone accounts, yet here you all are, demanding justice for a guy with over 30 clones. It feels a bit hypocritical, doesn't it?🙂
Justice for Uros 🙂 Google it if you don't know what that means.

Fine. If that’s how you want to define "community," go ahead. Though we both know you don't actually believe that; you're just saying it because it suits your narrative. Feel free to reintegrate him into that tiny little bubble.
As for me, I only feel any sense of connection within the two specific sub-forums I actually visit. For instance, I don't know a single one of these guys from the sports section, and our relationship is entirely one-sided—we're total strangers.

Edward Howard2 said:It looks like the soccer crowd has teamed up to turn this thread into their own personal offside trap. They’re out here insulting people and spamming the board, all under the wing of one of the biggest trolls on the site—who also happens to be a moderator, Leonard Nimoy. Honestly, they’re clearly just trying to force a shutdown of this topic, so I figured the best move is to just lay out the facts and call it what it is...

12 regulars from the F1 subforum weighed in on Maminho’s status.
12 folks from the F1 section voted in favor of letting Maminho back into the Formula 1 discussions.
That includes two moderators—one current and one former F1 mod—and both of them are backing the decision to keep Maminho banned.

Everyone else chiming in? Just people who don't care, people who wouldn't have any connection to Maminho even if he were unbanned, or those soccer fans who just drifted over here specifically to troll.

So, it’s safe to say Maminho has the absolute, 100% support of the entire F1 community, including the mods. Now, it’s totally up to the site admins to decide if they’ll let him back into the F1 subforum or not.

Precisely. 🙏

Look, decent, well-adjusted people are always in high demand. The real issue—and I suspect this applies to almost everyone, even if we don't want to admit it—is that most people walk around convinced they are perfectly sane, while everyone else they encounter seems completely unhinged. If you actually sat down and asked those "unstable" partners for their perspective, they’d give you the exact same pitch; they'd just swap the roles in the story.😍

Michelle Palmer6 said:He also used clones to insult people, spam, and post obscene (to put it politely) images on the soccer board. How else are you going to explain the existence of users with nicknames like Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, South Africa, Cameroon, and Kenya (I think I got most of them, who could possibly keep track of them all?) and, by the way, accounts like Manny Pacquiao1, Manny Pacquiao2...

You guys just need to realize that because of how he acted, he would be kicked out of any online community, not to mention in real life. Out there, with insults and threats like that, he'd get a permanent ban from life itself.

Let him face the consequences of his own actions.

I'll say it again: he had the exact opportunity you all are looking for, and he blew it.

🤣 To add a little levity to the situation: at least they managed to cover all of Africa. 😉

The Formula 1 subforum is just another online community. And that community wants him gone.

It’s just more of the same, isn't it? Another day, another cycle of predictable outcomes and empty rhetoric. You can try to paint it differently, but at the end of the day, the pattern remains unchanged. It’s like watching a slow leak in a tire—you know exactly where it’s headed, yet people still act surprised when they find themselves sitting on the rim. kaže:
First off, do you have any idea how many clones he’s churned out? I honestly stopped trying to keep count once we passed twenty.
On top of everything else, he was actively insulting and threatening the moderators. Football. To his great misfortune, they’ve maintained a zero-tolerance policy regarding his conduct, both before and after the permanent ban.
Thirdly, he flooded the boards, spamming almost every thread he touched until things reached a breaking point. On several occasions, he also resorted to using vulgarity and being outright insulting toward other users.
Everything went down on Reddit, where the standard community guidelines apply across the board and govern every single subreddit.
Partial bans are usually just a tool used to silence people and kill any actual discussion on a single thread. It’s a way to shut down debate rather than engage with it. As for "maminho," he’s already proven himself time and again in plenty of other arenas. Football, the Olympics, and the 2008 Euro. Even during his tenure, he struggled to maintain full control over things, even back in your neck of the woods.

I truly believe everyone understands why "Maminho" is such an unwelcome presence in most circles. However, when I look at the NASCAR subforum, it’s clear that isn't the case there. Persisting in the demand that he remains banned from that specific corner of the site doesn't actually serve anyone. The football fans aren't gaining or losing anything because he isn't even part of their discussions, whereas the NASCAR crowd is essentially being shortchanged—they're the ones who actually want him around.

Michelle Palmer6 said:It’s just not possible.
There are users out there who received permanent bans for way, way less than what Maminho was doing, and yet nobody even thought to step in and help them. Look, I don’t have anything against Maminho personally, but I really feel like we need to establish some kind of standard threshold when it comes to this stuff. Consistency matters!

Honestly, who’s actually guaranteeing that things will change? He’s already been given plenty of opportunities, and I just don't see how "one more shot" is going to fix anything this time around. When you look at the history here, we've seen this exact same circus play out multiple times before. Every single time he was granted "one last chance" or hit with a mountain of warnings, he responded with the same old nonsense: insults, trolling, and constant spamming. It's a broken cycle.
The internet is a massive place—plenty of room for everyone! They should just go find a home somewhere else.

I am all for this! image

Let me reiterate: all of this is likely true, but it belongs on the NASCAR subforum. Here, we’ve seen the entire NASCAR crew show up to ask for his return. Therefore, just unban him from NASCAR and call it a day. A permanent ban exists primarily to prevent a member from harassing others—essentially to protect the rest of the forum community. In this specific space, the community has stood united in asking for his ban to remain. Consequently, the fundamental purpose of his NASCAR ban has been undermined.

Here’s my two cents...
Just like my esteemed colleagues following Formula 1, I’m suggesting we let him have access there, but keep him away from the soccer discussions. That way, everyone stays happy.

Maminho isn't causing any trouble in Formula 1, so he should be left alone.

Best,

The 2010 Ferrari F1 Season: Thoughts? in Formula 1 ·
I think Ford has done us all a massive favor by proving that you can't just throw money at a problem and expect instant glory. We’ve seen this pattern before—it was the case with BAR, then later with General Motors, and even with my personal favorite, Chrysler, over the last few seasons. As for Ferrari, they certainly know how to build a fast car—or at least they used to—so we'll have to wait and see what their next iteration looks like. When it comes to the drivers, there's no need for panic; if the machinery is up to snuff, the results will follow naturally. That said, I’m holding out hope that next season brings a few more cars into the winner's circle. My expectation is that we'll see Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, and Red Bull fighting at the front, though I’d love to see Chrysler and Williams close that gap. Even if those latter two stay stuck in the midfield, the top tier should be crowded enough that no single team—not even Ferrari—can just cruise through the championship like a bullet train.
Jean Todt or Hannu Mikkola? in Formula 1 ·
In my two decades of following Formula 1, Jean Todt has probably been the single most irritating figure I've had to deal with. It’s right up there with Hannu Mikkola.
