A few questions for the doctors here... in Health ·
thanks everyone...

all

so after her first surgery earlier this year (back in March, specifically), the specialist was super clear—told her absolutely no heavy lifting, nothing strenuous at all...

but
a) the medical board basically forced her back to work anyway
b) and her employer just straight-up ignored the doctor's orders
so then in September, she ends up right back in the OR for another surgery and
a) once again, the specialist writes the exact same thing
b) and once again, the board says "nope, get back to work"
c) and you won't believe what happens next

we're talking about a woman who’s already been through five surgeries in her life (and let's be real, none of those were just dental stuff), yet she's being shoved back into the same job over and over... and it just keeps going.

how long does this go on for?
until anesthesia or a blood clot takes her out? Or until her kidneys just completely give up?

God, America is something else, isn't it? 😢

who am I even supposed to talk to about this?
the doctor just points the finger at Medicare
Medicare blames the employer
and the employer? They just blame her...

seriously, how much longer can this go on?

Yeah, you're right, Joshua Chavez... but honestly, the whole medical board was basically being run by a general practitioner!

man, thanks so much for putting this together...

now I've got plenty of ammunition to throw back at them.

Hold up a second... the doctors on the commission (not Medicare, mind you) are the ones evaluating someone's health and their capacity to work... they base everything on past medical records, history, all that stuff...

I'm just wondering, among other things, how a regular GP is even supposed to judge how fit someone is to get back to work after a certain surgery, or how jumping back into the job might actually mess with their recovery...

Honestly, I don't think it makes any sense at all...

Look, I don't exactly have some medical encyclopedia sitting on my desk, nor am I a doctor myself...

I was just looking for the actual wording because I wanted to quote it—you know, use those big-shot doctors' own words against them—to ask when exactly they forgot what they actually 'swore' to uphold in the first place...

Richard Moore3, thanks for that... so, I guess it basically boils down to the idea that how long you're out on sick leave is decided by some damn piece of paper rather than how someone is actually feeling...
just freaking lovely 😢

1. So, what's the actual wording of the Hippocratic Oath?
2. How much does a regular GP really know—like, how much training and residency actually goes into it—when it comes to judging if someone is fit to work after something like a hernia repair or dealing with cystic kidneys?
3. Just out of curiosity, roughly how much does one abdominal hernia surgery end up costing the government when you factor in the procedure itself, the follow-up care, and 60 days of paid medical leave?

thanks
Can't sleep! in Health ·
hmm... I don't know, maybe something's just weighing on you...

or maybe your internal clock is just totally out of whack...

or honestly, maybe you just don't need as much sleep as everyone else...

In the beginning, I was seriously losing my mind, just tossing and turning, freaking out because I couldn't drift off...
Now, though? It's weirdly normal for me to crash at 4 AM and then roll out of bed by 8 or 9, sometimes even earlier... I guess it’s pretty obvious I just need way less shut-eye than the average person...

But then, whenever a rough patch hits, I'll end up sleeping for like 12 or 14 hours straight and I'm basically a total 🙂
again.
Nail extraction procedure in Health ·
Honestly, I didn't even feel the anesthesia kick in... but man, once it wore off, it was pure hell... they ended up cutting out a chunk of flesh right along with my nail...
I mean, I wasn't gonna say anything earlier because I didn't want to freak anyone out...

Kenneth Hernandez67 said:Nah, it's definitely not just about pulling at your nails.😉

It’s actually a minor surgical thing where they take out a little piece of the nail root on each side, so basically, the nail just stops growing there altogether.

They do it under local anesthesia and the wounds heal up pretty fast.

biip 🙂 is totally
wrong

So, uh, I’m speaking from experience here...

I had to go through this once when I was a kid, ended up in the hospital because of it... basically, they just sliced that part off—meat and all, including the mother nail... they didn't even really fix the underlying issue... and honestly, even now, my nails still grow in all crooked, no matter how much I try working with manicurists or whatever to get them straight...

You seriously have to stay on top of it yourself... like, use a basin, touch up your feet, and REGULARLY trim those sharp edges with thin, fine scissors, cleaning everything out before they can even grow enough to start digging into your skin...
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
so basically idk 🙂 thx

like, is it actually worth it? (reading through all these side effects for oral contraceptives) to just hammer away at them for three days straight? (btw my liver tests are kinda trashed too, so that doesn't really help the case)

feels like the cons are totally outweighing the pros right now 😁

since my liver hadn't really given me any trouble in, hm... years... I thought maybe something new had come out that could save my skin... so that's why I was asking...

like, for a hormonal IUD, for example, I haven't heard anything about it since Jacob Wilson5 mentioned it...

I'm basically looking for some kind of protection for just three days a month😁

It feels so stupid having to deal with pills just because of a two or three-day window... but honestly, Josh is even more of a pain when it comes to "dealing" with condoms and all that other junk—like lube and stuff—that just totally kills the vibe...

I mean... screw sex if you're stuck using a condom, and screw stopping everything just to take off the condom, then go at it, then have to put it back on again... all that spontaneous energy just goes straight down the drain... 😍

And taking a pill three days later😁 just doesn't make any sense... I mean, sure, maybe once in a while... but trying to use that as actual birth control is just plain dumb...

Oh yeah, and I can't exactly pick which three days of the month they happen anyway😁

So... help a girl out😎

Thinking about it deeply

Hey, Kate Sullivan22? 😁 😉
Heartbreak in Health ·
Stabbing pains....

It could just be some sinus arrhythmia, which I think a ton of people deal with, honestly...

Aside from those stabs—which can get pretty intense sometimes, I guess—there aren't really any other big consequences, and you can totally live a normal life with it...

She should probably just go get an EKG done...

Hey... things are looking up... I’m finally back to walking normally again without any issues🙂

Andrew Anderson6, how've you been doing?
Muscle strain? (Back left calf :) ) in Health ·
thanks 🙂

I don't know, maybe it's just because I'm totally wiped out or something...
Muscle strain? (Back left calf :) ) in Health ·
So... anyway...

Oh man, me too!!!!

So, get this... I woke up yesterday, like, super early in the morning, and man, I was just hit with this absolutely brutal pain in my calf. Just out of nowhere. It was intense, too.

So... honestly? I didn't see that kind of mess coming, Joshua Chavez. 😢

Man, I’ve just been stuck with my feet up all day... seriously, I didn't even manage to get them stretched out until super late tonight.

So, like, I can actually walk around today, which is a win, I guess... but man, I’m still shuffling along like a zombie, and honestly? Every time I get behind the wheel, I’m seeing stars. It's wild. 😢

So, I was just sitting here wondering... like, how does drinking a massive amount of soda actually cause those nasty stomach cramps? It’s such a weird thing to think about, right?

I’m definitely not an athlete or anything, but I guess I’ve actually been moving around quite a bit these last few days... like, maybe even a little too much? lol. Just feeling way more active than usual! 4.4 miles So, I was out doing my usual walking and dancing thing, right? But then Tuesday night happened... I basically forced myself to trudge around for like four straight hours. I don't know, maybe that's what did it? Maybe that's the reason?
Muscle strain? (Back left calf :) ) in Health ·
hey 🙂

so now I’m pretty sure one of my four muscles is totally trashed 😁 😉

does that actually mean I can't go out dancing? 😕

🙂 🙂 🙂
Muscle strain? (Back left calf :) ) in Health ·
Oops.... my right thigh 🙂

Sooo... it’s not really on the inner side, more like

it's on the front left part of my right thigh, sort of right in the middle 🙂

🙂
Muscle strain? (Back left calf :) ) in Health ·
thanks... it's just that front left part of my thigh, and honestly, it only acts up when I'm doing squats in the downward phase...
otherwise, there's no pain and I can walk and dance totally fine...
