1. You don't need to go overboard with the bold text. We get what you're saying if you just type normally.
2. Just toss it in the trash and stop buying junk online for pennies.

copperrider59 said:What kind of power does a US Marshal or a process server actually have when they show up at my front door to seize assets?

Here’s the deal: there’s already an enforcement order out there, which is why my bank account is frozen, but since there’s zero cash in there, the creditor hasn't been paid. I’m guessing the creditor asked to pivot the seizure to physical property, because now a marshal is showing up at my house. I wasn't home when they stopped by, so they just told my family they'd be back on a specific date.

I really need to know what their actual authority is—like, what can they legally grab and what's off-limits? Can they force their way into the house if I’m not there and my family tries to block them? Look, I’m just a student with basically nothing to my name, so there isn't any paper trail for "assets." It’s just clothes and basic everyday stuff. Are they allowed to seize my clothes, and how do they even decide what belongs to me versus what belongs to everyone else living here? It feels like it’s all up to their discretion, and they might just guess based on size or style that something is mine.

Basically, what's the smartest move here? Should I just stay out of the house when they show up, or should I be there and tell them, "Look, I don't own anything, this is my parents' place, and everything inside belongs to them"? Do they actually have the right to rummage through things and play judge and jury on what's mine and what belongs to my parents?

It honestly seems like in a country where we're supposed to have legal certainty and the rule of law, they shouldn't be able to touch anything. If they have this much unchecked discretion, it totally flies in the face of how the legal system is supposed to work.

What do you guys think is the best way to handle this? Should I be home or just lay low?

Just pay the debt or try to negotiate a payment plan with the creditor.
Running away and hiding is usually why debts pile up in the first place, and it doesn't fix the underlying issue.
Why is my Medicare card only in American? in Health ·
I don't really get these responses, 😕

If a law is broken, you fix it. Simple as that.
Just because American is an official language in the European Union doesn't mean anything once you actually show up at a doctor's office in the Czech Republic...

Is this some kind of national pride thing or what?
Why is my Medicare card only in American? in Health ·
Just picked up my Medicare card and the entire thing is printed in American.

It’s pretty obvious that any doctor who takes this thing in their hands is going to be staring at American text, and honestly, it would make sense if it was at least bilingual—if not full English—to actually be useful.

Is there some kind of logical explanation for this, or is it just another case of total incompetence from the bureaucrats and lawmakers?
Anyone got a decent link to the video?

Thanks

It’s basically going to be a total "cultural" takeover of Americans by the US Army Corps of Engineers—you know, forcing all that trashy pop, cheap reality TV with those pre-packaged scripts, and those low-rent regional talent shows and soap operas down our throats.
I mean, Pink Floyd already tried to make a move here once, but George W. Bush shut them down . Now, Joe Biden needs to pull the same kind of move. If people want to listen to that garbage in some dive bar or a local club, fine—let it stay on the fringes where it belongs. It shouldn't ever be elevated to a national level.

Oh my god😲.🤣.

High School Guide: Admissions, reviews, and advice in Students & Teens ·
Until grading standards are actually standardized across every school district, I’m all for bringing back entrance exams alongside GPA.

Take a high-pressure school like SS Kranjcevic in Chicago, for example. Kids there are practically bleeding for a B, sweating through Greek and Latin just to stay afloat.
Then you look at a school in a Small Town, USA—somewhere that mostly feeds into those big Chicago schools. The bar for a decent grade is miles lower there. You’ve got parents and teachers all being buddies, which is typical for smaller communities, and it ends up resulting in a mountain of straight A's by the end of the year.

So you end up with some kid from Small Town, USA getting into MIOC because they have a perfect transcript, while the kids from SS Kranjcevic get pushed toward some random alternative school just because they picked up a couple of B's—even though their actual knowledge is five times higher than the small-town kids.☕

P.S. These schools are just examples; I'm not trying to shade anyone specifically.

Who even are you talking about here?
Maybe give us a little more context... okay?

(Actually, don't bother. I mean, looking at your history, you're definitely one of those "divide and conquer" types, whether we're talking about cooking tips or the US Air Force. You never actually commit to an opinion, which I guess is fine since someone’s gotta play devil's advocate, I suppose. Peace.)

He’s probably talking about how people went all in on those massive loans, acting like money grows on trees, and now suddenly everyone's bringing up their kids and their future when they face foreclosure on those same apartments they're being kicked out of...
briskdrifter3 said:And then there are the other geniuses—the ones who think it’s perfectly fine to slaughter the chicken just to get one golden egg. They can act surprised when, after driving thousands of citizens—and even worse, thousands of businesses—straight into bankruptcy, the banks wonder why nobody wants to take out loans anymore or why business has completely dried up.

I’d love nothing more than to see the banks instantly revert the exchange rate back to what it was two or three years ago, just so everyone with a mortgage could see their monthly payments drop from, say, $6,000 down to $4,500.

Why do I get the feeling that would only help the 5% who actually can't pay their debts, while the other 95% would still be stuck in the exact same mess, unable to make their payments anyway?

In other words, it isn't the banks being greedy; it's the people who thought they could pull off owning a house, a car, luxury snacks, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and daily coffee runs on a total household income of $8,000$3.25 while debating whether they should upgrade to a new iPhone or a Nokia...☕

I feel for those who are losing sleep over everything happening right now, really, but I’m curious if they’d finally stop complaining if the banks just scrapped interest entirely and left them with only the principal. Or would it then be the government's fault for not providing free housing so they didn't have to buy it in the first place? Or maybe it's just bad luck because someone else got a house and they didn't?

rowdyowl said:Look, I’m not a cynical guy, but I won't deny that the Republican Party made things worse and steered us right into this corner.

But if the Democratic Party coalition doesn't know how to do anything except pile more mandates and taxes onto the backs of everyday citizens, you can't pin that on the Republicans anymore...

Really?

Why do you think they’re hiking up taxes and fees in the first place?
Do you honestly think they wouldn't be doing it if the Republican Party hadn't bled the country dry?

It's all to refill an empty treasury, pay out fraudulent veteran claims and disability checks, fund early retirements, and cover those bloated public sector salaries and fake government agencies...
Dennis Jackson16 said:Coming soon to a city near you. Get out there and join us in making some noise to show everyone that this supposedly "blue New York City"—and I use quotes because we all know it’s actually red—is still stuck with its little chicken coop mentality, even if it drags us all straight into a ditch.

Since nobody seems to have the anthem for the Democratic Party coalition, I figured I'd offer up "Kukuriku-cock-a-doodle-doo," courtesy of our buddy Dragan over in New York City. Check it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIpvRpalwNc

Oh, and I almost forgot the most important part: let's take a moment right here to list every single one of the Democratic Party coalition's massive achievements since they took power.

I'll start the list, I guess:

1. Skyrocketing electricity and gas prices
2. Tax hikes on everything
3. Stagnant or shrinking average wages
4. Shrinking GDP and sliding back into recession
5. Ballooning national debt
6. Inflation running wild
7. Unemployment climbing
8. Industrial production tanking
9. More bankruptcies everywhere
10. A surge in foreclosures and frozen bank accounts
...

To any "creatives" out there, maybe you should try writing your own anthem based on all these successes.
Maybe model it after bijesa1.

Just watch yourselves, though. Don't go copying it too closely unless you want a copyright lawsuit from Zampu.😁

Do you honestly think any of this would happen if the Republican Party hadn't gutted the United States to the core? ☕

This is what happens under Republican Party rule. It would have gone down this way even if Saint Peter was running the show.
Bank account frozen: What should I do? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Sandra Ross86 said:A question for the group... if my bank account gets frozen for the first time before a protected account is actually set up, am I allowed to withdraw my entire paycheck? Is there really no way to have at least a third of it released back to me? I just don't understand how anyone is expected to survive an entire month without any access to their living expenses..

Showgirls (1995) in Movies ·
I thought this was a great movie.

Honestly, it hit harder than most adult films you see these days. It’s the perfect erotic drama—it teeters right on the edge of being pornographic in certain scenes, but the actual plot is solid.

The cast was also spot on; they were a really smart choice for a flick like this.🙂
Why are some people always in such a rush? in Psychology ·
silverwalker27 said:?

I think there was a slight misunderstanding.

I handle whatever an investor requires—it’s just a "serious business" sort of thing. I know things get hectic, but if the rush is constant, it usually points to something else—either a personal choice (some people just thrive on chaos and hate sitting still) or simply a lack of clear priorities.

We all only have 24 hours in a day; pretending otherwise is pointless. Plans have to be realistic within those constraints—otherwise, they aren't really plans at all.

You can get a massive amount done in 24 hours, or you can decide to prioritize your own laziness. People hate admitting they're lazy, so they invent excuses about "shifting priorities" instead.

Do you have kids? Probably not, since they aren't a priority...☕

If you had two or three kids running around, your maneuvering room would shrink fast. Daily activities wouldn't be a matter of choosing priorities anymore; they'd just be a routine you're forced to follow, regardless of what you want.
Why are some people always in such a rush? in Psychology ·
The answer is pretty straightforward. It’s because my schedule tomorrow is already stacked, and the day after that is just as bad. If I push something off today, tomorrow becomes an absolute nightmare.

Blessed are those who actually manage to find free time these days. I have no clue how they pull it off—unless they aren't busy raising kids, I guess. If you don't have little ones constantly needing something, then sure, maybe it's possible.

I’m looking forward to my first real break in about twenty years once the kids finally grow up. Though, by then, relaxing will probably be impossible anyway. Old habits die hard.

Honestly, @amberscout6, I find it incredibly difficult to connect with anyone who can't keep up. 🤷
Online banking issues in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·

It honestly infuriates me how much Goldman Sachs charges for every single transaction I make. 🙂
And that’s not even the worst part—they’re also tacking on fees based on a percentage of the deposit... it's maddening.
As if there’s any difference to the computer processing the payment. Did I pay for my electricity $55 based on whether I used $555...
how many lights were on?
Is there any way out of this?
Does a bank actually exist that offers a flat monthly fee regardless of how many transactions I run or how much money I move?
Or are we all just sitting ducks for these banks?

Which bank is taking a percentage 😕
Right-wingers backing the Democratic Coalition in Close to Politics ·
It’s really not even about being a Democrat or a Republican anymore. There are just two paths here. One has already shown its hand and landed us right where we are, and the other hasn't quite proven itself yet—we can only hope they have better answers than the first one.

So, who are you actually voting for? ☕

What’s the point in backing someone just because they wear a certain color if they’re driving the country straight into a ditch and picking your pockets every single day? This isn't some deep debate about left vs. right politics. It's just basic common sense.

And honestly, whoever wins, their room to maneuver to prevent a total national collapse is going to be so tiny that there’s zero margin for error. We’re looking at layoffs, lower standards of living, and slashed wages for years to come.

Progressive rock. It’s a genre that lives in the tension between pure technical brilliance and sheer, unadulterated pretension. On one hand, you have musicians pushing the boundaries of what an instrument can actually do—complex time signatures, sweeping conceptual narratives, and arrangements that feel more like orchestral movements than simple songs. It's impressive, sure. But there's a flip side. It often veers into self-indulgence, where the song structure collapses under the weight of its own ambition. You end up with twenty-minute tracks that feel less like a musical journey and more like an endurance test. It’s the sonic equivalent of a high-concept architecture project that looks stunning in a blueprint but becomes a nightmare to actually live in. Some call it art; others just call it noise disguised as complexity. kaže:

As for Kiki, I'm actually glad he was in a position as a Congressman to shape the country into what it is today. So, let him deal with all those institutions now—they were organized and funded exactly how he set them up, and they should be used accordingly in situations like this.
