Nah—you're just born a Christian. 🤦

Look, you have to be careful—you or I might just breeze through it and feel nothing, but if you pass it to someone elderly or sick, you could easily end up being their death sentence.🤷

honestly, I think it’s high time we burned Jesus at Mardi Gras—just to stir the pot a little bit 🤷

We’re getting closer to reality—just one more step ☕

That doesn't mean they should have been handed over to those same incompetent hacks—the ones who locked them up the second they got their hands on them just to flip the land for a profit.

Small-time greed over the interests of the public or the country—that was the hallmark of this whole "privatization" scheme.

ironpanther5 said:Look, I’m no Reagan fan myself, but blaming a man for the state of America twenty years after he’s gone is just plain ridiculous. It sounds like some old wives' tales from a corner bodega.
When Francek passed away, we were actually sitting pretty at the top of the pack among New Europe nations—not because of him, mind you, but simply because nobody had caught up to us yet. Fast forward twenty years and we’re lagging behind everyone. Reagan was exactly who he was: a nationalist and an economic communist rolled into one, a true man of his era. An autocrat, the whole privatization mess, and the fallout we're seeing today from those sales—I get all of it. But after twenty years of zero meaningful reform, suddenly he becomes the big bad boogeyman.

We pivoted toward a new direction on January 3, 2000, and now it’s January 5, 2020, and suddenly it's the "idiot" Reagan who's responsible for all our headaches.

Go ahead, go cast your votes for the Republican Party or the Democrats again, and then come crying about how Reagan ruined everything.

None of this would hold water if Reagan hadn't overseen that "privatization" mess—where the economy was basically gutted just to serve a few special interests. Bush's gifting of assets to ExxonMobil was really just the final nail in the coffin, but Reagan killed any chance of this country truly thriving right from the start.

The worst part is how they try to sweep it all under the rug so the Republican Party doesn't have to answer for it—and the others won't speak up either, since they could be held liable. That’s why we’re failing, and that’s why our independence will probably only last until the next global war.

Reagan was basically the biggest undertaker for this country—only Bush and his cronies managed to dig an even deeper hole afterward, followed by everyone else. If you can't see that, there's really no point in even discussing politics with you.

Thompson would head straight to a stadium in Mexico City tomorrow—for the right amount of cash—just to sit there and wail along to Ceca's biggest hits.

it seems to me that Paul Martinez73 is one of those "believers" who used to walk to church with their prayer books back in the USSR

Decorating a fir tree is deeply tied to Christianity; there’s just some speculation regarding the exact origins and how the tradition of decorating a fir tree for Christmas started. But if you look into it, you can trace it back to very early times, most often originating in Germany, where the connection is exclusively Christian—those are the strongest theories out there.

Do you decorate a fir tree on other days too? Why don't you celebrate by decorating a tree and getting drunk and overeating on other holidays or special occasions?

Here's a little bit of free education for you...
https://www.whychristmas.com/customs/trees.shtml

Also, giving gifts at Christmas is exclusively and solely linked to Christianity and how the Three Kings gave gifts to Jesus Christ.

So, my dear Redditors, whether you want to admit it or not, today you've found a piece of Faith and the Catholic Church within yourselves; you're participating in it, and through that, you've realized that Jesus was born today. With your joy, songs, drinking, and eating, you are celebrating His birthday.

That's my boy Anthony Jackson2, acting like you're raising your hand to say you aren't a Nazi, but that the Nazis just took it from the Romans... while basically admitting you're an idiot in the process.

Decorating a tree as such is just a continuation of the custom of bringing evergreen greenery—mainly branches—into northern homes. There are plenty of theories on who started it, but the goal was to drive evil spirits out during the dark period of the year when days are shortest or non-existent. It’s a pagan custom, plain and simple. Just because Germans later linked it to Christianity doesn't make the custom Christian; it's just one more thing Christianity stole—or "appropriated," if you prefer the polite term.

And that’s a bare-bones explanation. The topic is way deeper than that, so trying to "educate" someone with a link to a page that only scratches the surface is a total fail. Educate yourself before you try educating others.😉

Paul Martinez73 said:Matthew Young35, do you celebrate Christmas? Got a nice Christmas tree at home? A nativity scene? Heading out for Advent?
It’s actually fascinating how many "Atheists" and "I'm not Catholic" types still celebrate Christmas. So, I have to wonder... are you and Zinedine Zidane part of that little club?

From what I know—decorating a fir tree is just a pagan custom with zero connection to Christianity—so I have no idea why you'd bring it up here. 🤷

Patrick Martin said:Every religion needs its own infrastructure to actually function. To me, the Church is the backbone of faith—the vessel that carries it. Period. Some random incident involving some jerk priest in some tiny parish isn't the benchmark; that’s just an outlier. It’s a statistical anomaly at best. Given how massive the Church is and how much good it actually does, you guys have no idea. Even just having the freedom to go somewhere, pray, and confess... that matters. Nobody is forcing you to show up. There’s a reason things work this way. For instance, when people face death, there isn't a single soul on this planet who doesn't look for comfort from someone. (Unless, obviously, they get hit by a car and don't have time to turn to anyone 😬 )

Try looking at it this way. Certain customs and unwritten rules just have to exist; they're right there when you need them. Someone mentioned that the Church used to be stronger. Man, back then, the Church was *everything*. Without those foundations and that entire heritage, we’d all be in total chaos right now. I’m certain of it.

The real issue with the Catholic Church is this weird paradox: throughout history, it’s been the primary keeper of knowledge—knowledge that’s eventually going to cost it dearly. The wealthy elites who built their fortunes on that knowledge and technology are going to try to impose their own new standards of behavior. They'll try to manufacture their own politics, all driven by pure arrogance and boredom.

And this whole situation with immigrants? That's the real test. I’m dying to see all you "smart" people figure out how America is going to unify, pull itself together, and stand up against this challenge. I'm genuinely curious to see how it plays out.

Believers love to lean on that "preservation" argument—and sure, it's true they kept historical records alive—but let's be real: they also spent centuries suppressing any science or thought that didn't fit their specific dogma. It raises a valid question—just how much progress was lost in the process of them "protecting" it?

I was reading a debate on this recently, and someone posed the perfect closing question: if the Church were still calling all the shots, would we even have the internet to argue about it today?

Patrick Martin said:Yeah, look, it was a hell of a bumpy ride. There was so much damn pushback because people just didn't get what we were actually trying to do right out of the gate. Sometimes you've gotta stir up a little chaos to make way for a whole lot more good ☕

So, can we say Islam is currently walking that same difficult path?

Actually, I just remembered

before they divert water back into the Mississippi, they cool it down—so if things start heating up, they just run it through extra cooling systems.

If I recall correctly, there’s a regulation limiting how much the temperature can rise—maybe no more than 2 degrees. I spent some time working inside a nuclear plant back in the day, though it's been about ten years since they walked me through the specifics.

I don't exactly remember what the protocol is if they hit those overheating levels—though I doubt they’d actually shut down the reactors.🤔

Sure, because Trump is such a saint—he built everything entirely on his own, no illegal labor in his buildings, zero influence from lobbyists, and he definitely won't see a dime in direct profit from that wall he wants to build...

Saint. ☕

Ethanol—just another fuel source to debate while everything else falls apart. says:
She’s fallen into a downward spiral she likely won't ever escape—and since the kid is already dealing with autism, they basically had to go ahead and bleach her brain, too.

And now they’re using kids for propaganda too—Greta isn't the only one—because when you can't win on facts, you just lean into emotional manipulation.

Who’s actually pulling the strings behind Greta and the climate alarmists? It's worth looking into.

Ashley Bailey6 said:Climate change is a natural phenomenon that has existed as long as the planet itself.

I believe human influence is minimal right now, if it even exists at all.

No sane person wants to pollute nature or destroy the resources that sustain us, but I'm not worried about it.
Humans evolve just like everything else. Technology will follow suit, giving us more while causing less pollution.

If mass pollution ever actually happens, people will start dying off. The strongest and most capable will survive, the Earth will reset itself, and everything will start over.

Maybe—maybe not.

The fact is, the Country warms up naturally, then cools down—it’s just a cycle that's been spinning for billions of years. No one actually knows what happens if we kick that process into overdrive, or if excessive heating prevents the cooling phase from kicking in when it should. Those are the things worth worrying about long-term—maybe in ten or twenty generations.

Then again, you look at how many cities today are basically unlivable because of air pollution—I remember being in Ottawa where I couldn't even crack a window at night without the smog hitting me like a wall. These are the kinds of issues that are going to hit humanity—and pretty much everything else on this planet—way sooner than people realize.

As for the debates happening here—if I went looking for discussions about the US presidential election right now, I wouldn't be surprised to find the global warming deniers siding with Trump. That pretty much says everything you need to know about them. ☕
